  2. Hi all,I haven't been checking LavaSoft's site so often, thus I might be a bit late with this, or you might already happen to know that Ad-Aware 6.0 is released. The official announcement is here for your reference:http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?act=ST&f=1&t=3222You can download it here:http://lavasoft.element5.com/support/download/This version is totally free and is fully featured, even if you can get your hands on extra features in the commercial version. Note, however, that the number of features in the freeware hasn't decreased since the previous release, but the other way around. My personal opinion remains as before: this is a very good program. Hello,I have a question about the Concorde. When you are inside the plane, and it passes through mach 1, can you still hear the engines? The reason why I am asking this is because in Physics we are studying about waves. I asked this question but it was somehow left unanswered. Here's what I think I know about this. :)All mechanical waves, including sound, must have a medium to travel through. When you are in the cabin, the only medium the waves could reach your ear through is the body of the aircraft. Then they would have to go in the air inside the cabin in order to get to your ear. That means that they face a boundary, metal to air, thus lowering the waves altogether. So…

HiDo any readers of this site know where I might find a record of British military peacetime accidents? In other words, a military version of the AAIB bulletin publication. Preferably this would need to go back to the beginning of the 1970s.Any help with links, magazines etc would be appreciated!RegardsJason

Here's an interesting, small article I ran across at The Independent. It concerns the logistics nightmare of building the Airbus A380 - the worlds largest and most advanced commercial passenger jet (as if you all didn't know :-)).Good read about this monster and what it takes to build it:http://news.independent.co.uk/business/new...sp?story=380093Take care,Elrond

By Narayanan MadhavanBANGALORE, India, Feb 6 (Reuters) - French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin pressed the Indian government on Thursday to speedily approve a $2.1-billion order of Airbus planes by Indian Airlines. The state-run carrier [iA.UL] recommended last March the purchase of 43 A319, A320 and A321 planes over five years as part of it's biggest ever fleet upgrade. But it needs the cabinet's nod to go ahead with the order."Indian Airlines has chosen to buy 43 Airbus planes," Raffarin said at an air show in the southern Indian city of Bangalore. "It's my strong wish the choice be finalised soon."No timeframe has been set for a decision but French Finance Minister…

Toady, my mother left KBWI headed for EGLL (she is over the Atlantic, off the coast of Maine at the time of this post) on a BA 763 (I posted that this would be the aircraft she would take in an eariler post not seeing any flight info prior to the post). The cool thing is, driving into the parking, we drove along the side of the Runway, and there I saw a Southwest 732 turning onto the runway and a 735 holding short. After that, we were waiting for my mom (who was driving) to get the stub for parking out of the machine, and I saw a Delta OC 752 climbing to flight level. I went spotting in the Observation area and had a fun time. My mom is arriving in EGLL at Terminal 4, wil…

Hey guys, I thought you might be interested in this. Today, Northwest Airlines flew our last revenue passenger flight for the beloved Boeing 727. Flight 560 departed Denver at 0630, and arrrived to much fanfare in MSP at 0927. A "going away" party was held at the gate and another one is planned for Wednesday evening at a local hotel here in the Twin Cities. for more info: http://www.nwa727.com It is a wonderful machine, I've personally logged time in each seat in the cockpit, and can think of very few bad things to say about the aircraft itself. I would hazard a guess, that each and everyone of us have ridden on one of these incredible machines sometime in our lives.....k…

Hi guys,I'm working on a project for my COMS380 class that requires a website, hence this is my intro graphic for said page.My project deals with the various concerns raised with computerization of fly-by-wire systems. If you have any suggestions of anything I can add to the graphic, or another graphic layer I should add, or even just general criticism, I would be most appreciative.

Hi there, I was wondering if there was an FAA restriction on the amount of nautical miles that a commercial aircraft (such as a Dash 8 or jet) can be flown en route manually, or is it based on pilot preference or company policy?Thanks,J.C. (MYNN)

As we all know, jet aircraft operate most efficiently at higher flight levels, and I believe must remain at 250 KIAS or below when flying under 11,000 feet. When commercial carriers operate short flights (i.e. 250 nm or less) the flight plans they file are obviously affected by many factors --- weather, traffic, assigned jetways, etc. With all this in mind, could someone please offer suggestions as to the desired flight levels for such operations? I expect that cruise levels of FL250 or above would not be uncommon, even though a descent would be required almost immediately after reaching cruise altitude.ThanksWayne Allen, CYYZ Toronto

Hi,I just got Wilco's Airport 2002 Vol. 1. I have to say that I am outraged. For all this money they make us pay they give us very little: some planes which are nice, but not better than anything that can be found as freeware on this or other sites, a cockpit which again is nice but nothing better than some freeware panels, a completely over-hyped little gimmick called FSNAT, and: TERRIBLE airports! I was really shocked at how bad they are. I bought the package because there is no other good rendering of Chicago O'Hare and Paris CDG. All the other airports are done already superbly by people like SimFlyers and GermanAirports, so already I thought "if they re-do these, the…

Ok, I am a diehard lover of the DF737-400, but on recommendations of others, have decided to give the PIC767 a try. My first question is how do I merge it with the POS (Project Open Sky) 767's? I heard that that is the best integration for this aircraft. I am hoping that others in this forum can give me some advice on enhancing this aircraft, and any input into what may be the best "Payplane" on the market. Rants allowed... lol
