I spent the 4th visiting the in-laws. My mother in-law works for Beoing and I always enjoy reading their company publication. They had a really good article on the proposed 7E7, their next major new new model and their current marketing postion. Here's a link to the article:http://www.boeing.com/news/frontiers/archi...une/cover1.htmlAs with any company, you know there is going to be some spin. But I think they were pretty forthcoming on their current position in the market and status of their fleet. As expected, the 737NG continues to carry the banner in the small-medium market. They all but admit the 717 was a major dissapointment. However, in fairness to Boeing,…

HiI'm doing a gauge and asked if somenone knew where I can find a FMC photo or bitmap. A friend told me that I can find what I'm looking for in a programa called EFIS98. After asking for the license and reviewing it seems that the entreprise no longer exists (at least couldn't found any current info). Is it legal to use the bitmaps? Does a copyright ceases to exist if the enterprise disapears?ThanksJos

Hi JP,I wanted to propose some (minor) design changes to the DCF forum format views.1) On the main view of for eg. the Hangar Chat Forum, the topics are presented with their replies, but the message ID number is not there. Can we introduce the message ID on the main page? For example, message ID 9001 'Confessions of an ex-game pirae' is not evident on the main page but is only seen when one clicks the topic itself. Makes it difficult if someone has referred a topic ID number and one tries to search for it.2) While doing a 'view all' of a topic, one can see all the messages first listed, and then further down all the actual messages are detailed. In the message list there …

Hi, I'm a "potential" student at ERAU and I was wondering if anyone knew anything about their Admissions program there. I just recieved my ACT scores and I was trying to figure out what the average acceptance of ACT scores was, and what the minimum accepted score was also. I recieved a 25 on my last ACT and I was wondering if that is acceptable to the admissions board. Thanx for any help guys!`Brent Burklo

On a local community level, is anybody in a flight simulation club? I'm thinking of starting one where I live. Surely, with the number of flight sim programs on store shelves, there must be lots of people in most areas for such an organization. Anybody have any insights? Thanks Greg in Asheville

Alright, since there are NUMEROUS threads and opinions on software ACTIVATION etc. I propose the following questions and hope DEVELOPERS and CUSTOMERS will take note:1. If software had NO COPY PROTECTION and offered you value would you purchase it?2. Have you purchased software after trying a pirated version?3. Have you been aggravated for purchasing software that turned out to be a total flop and then frustrated that there was no refund?4. Have you tried pirated software that was garbage and GLAD you didn't purchase it and discarded or stored it away?5. Do you REALLY believe that ANY copy protection helps companies sell software?I will be the first in line to answe…

  12. I took this photo at about 11:30 tonight from a major road about 5 miles to the north of where I live. To give you some sense of scale - that rock formation at the upper left is an entire 7000 ft mountain called Rattlesnake Peak. Those flames are easily 75-200ft high in places and we could see them moving very clearly. Where the two mountains meet in the middle there is Sabino Canyon, a popular recreation area that is gonna get utterly destroyed by this. The foliage sticking up on the right is in the foreground. This picture is completely unaltered except for the resizing and a sharpen filter. It looked even more impressive than this in person - you can't possibly grasp h…

Today, Saturday the 5th of July is the 150th anniversary of the first manned flight by a fixed wing, heavier than air machine. Yes you read that correctly, the 150th anniversary. You are probably thinking it was the Wright Brothers who made the first manned flight with a heavier that air machine but they had been beaten to it by over 50 years by Sir George Cayley whose flying machine took off from Brompton Dale, near Scarborough, UK, in 1853 and with his coachman acting as pilot, flew a distance of over 153 yards before crash landing. After that experience the coachman, John Appleby, handed in his notice unaware of course he had anticipated the Wright Brothers flight b…

SPECIAL REPORT!Starships Headed to SlaughterThe Beech Starship fleet is being destroyed at the behest of its manufacturer Raytheon, which owns 40 of the 50 production airplanes built between 1988 and 1995. In recent weeks Starships have been flown to Pinal Air Park in Marana, Ariz., near Tucson, and corralled at Evergreen Air Center's heavy maintenance facility, which at press time had destroyed six airplanes by sawing them up and burning the carbon-fiber sections in an incinerator. The goal is to complete the destruction of the airplanes under Raytheon control by year-end. Asked why, a company spokesman said, "The costs of supporting the fleet are prohibitive. There are …

  16. My favorite section of FLYING mag. is the Aftermath in which Peter Garrison selects some aircraft accident and takes it apart analyzing what happened and why.In the last (July) issue he talks about the Sabreliner biz jet which flew from Argentina to Maui (Hawaii) with a day stop-over in Tahiti. The final destination was the island of Molokai. After clearing customs in Maui they took off for the final 15-min island hop to Molokai. The night was clear, no clouds, 10 mile visibility and they flew into a mountain while on final to the airport (thinking that the mountain was a cloud !).Anyway, excellent reading and I can't think of a more embarassing fatal mistake a profession…

Hey everyone,This weeks Aviation Week has an article stating that there is a possibility that the Fiarchild Dornier 728 Regional Jet, which was near first flight when the company collapsed, may be started again. They do point out that it isn't guranteed, as the company looking to bring it to production is a Chinese Investment company, D'Long International Strategic Investments. They are looking to having it built by XAC (Xian Aircraft Corp.) to fulfill what they see as a 600 RJ potential market in China.I just bring this up because it really is a nice looking RJ.
