I figured I'd ask this here since this is like the pilot pub and most of you seem to have some kind of "pub lawyer" input on these kinds of things. I mean where else do pilots go to talk about fishing, boating, golf, fashion, and what ever else. So, I aquired a CD of a band that is an original demo CD from the recording studio. The band is now very succesful, and I figured what the heck, and I put the CD up for sale. The lawyer for the band is trying to get me to stop selling it. I don't think from the way he is going about it that he really has a leg to stand on. I have not aquired the CD illegally. I have not made copies of the CD. It is an original "one off" CD from the…

It's coming around to the birthday date again :), and wife is asking what I might want for a present.I'm currently in my final stages of sitting the instrument rating written, and just commencing the practical training. I've posted here before about IR training aids, and some of you have replied that FS is as good (and a lot cheaper) than some of the specialized apps out there (Elite, On Top, etc.). I'm speaking here only about the software component, not any hardware and not anything that I can expect to log. Just as an aid in training.Given that I have no big wishes on my birthday list :), I'm considering a request for one of these specialized applications. While FS…

Having only one line into my house, nothing is more annoying when I'm browsing here or downloading an aircraft, and a telemarketer calls. Unfortunately, I can't busy out the line using *70 as I always have to be alert for an emergency call from my mother, who is at that age now where I keep close tabs on her. Usually when call waiting kicks in, my carrier drops immediately. Needless to say, I get pretty PO'd when it's a telemarketer...Solution? Do-not-call list, right? I thought link this would be interesting--while not aviation related, it's related to those like me who use dial-up to browse sites like this one...http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/pending/callscam.aspTel…

Hey,Pardon the ignorance, My Gateway came with a Geforce 4 MX440 128mb, I suspect that it is plugged into a PCI port. Can someone help me confirm if this card is AGP or PCI and what port it is docked to??? Is it possible this is an AGP card connected to a PCI port? If so, if I connected it to the AGP slot I should get better performance right? My system:Gateway P4 2.531gig ddr ramGeforce 4 mx440 128mbIs there a way to check via the properties/settings or the desktop menue? Some of the info I have found:Bus: 4xAGPDirectX version: 8.1 (weird, I installed 9.0a with fs2004)Location: PCI bus 1, device 0, function 0 (this was found in device manager)This is why I am confused, …

My names Alex and I'm looking for any other teens with some real life time. I fly a Navajo, King Air 90 and 200, and Citation I and II with my mom and Many little planes and helicopters with my dad. I'm about to turn 15 and just broke 200 hours. I fly about 100 hours a year and was wondering if there are any other teens out there for me to talk to while I'm online.

Personanlly I think that the idea is good, but the outcome will be bad. These new jets will end up doing the same thing the V-tail bonanza's, P210, and Malibus did. People with a some money but not a lot of time will go out and buy one of these jets and end up killing them selfs. Think about the same thing happend with P210's. What I think will happen is that a lot 400 hour pilot with a M/E rating will go out and purchase these aircraft. Now below 10,000 feet speed is limited to 250 knots so these aircraft will be just as fast as Lears on a majoraty of the flying. Do you think a 400 hour pilot could fly a lear. You might be thinking yeah but what if this airplane is flown…

DC Forums+ 1.2 was struggling last week as everyone painfully saw. It was load related. As we climbed to and through 10,000 logins a day, the system bogged down to the point where it was almost useless. Matt came up with an idea that we implemented yesterday; that is, we moved the forum's web stuff over to another of our servers, and let our dual processor based machine do the SQL database. That seems to have worked for the weekend traffic and has resulted in what appears to be a much faster system. That is a temporary fix because the load on the other machine is now higher than we would like it. We are in contact with the author of DCF+ and we are hoping that we can get …

I just spoke to the medical institute in preparation for PPL training and I couldn't believe what I heared! My left eye has a refractive error of +5, and my righ eye is 100% OK. In the Netherlands we implement JAR-FCL 3.340 and I was told that I am disqualified because the difference between two eyes cannot exceed 3 dioptres!!! The +5 is no problem, but I need to have a bad right eye in order to qualify!!!Can someone please tell me this is joke, I've been working towards this all my life and now they practically tell me to sit and wait until I get old hoping my right eye turns bad so I can get a PPL?! :-hmmm Does anyone have any info on this? Can I punch myself to damage …

I am not to sure where to start. I used to post over at the flightsim.com forums, I got sick, tried, and fed up at the forum police and the members there. I hope to gain a lot more over here, and be able to enjoy conversations with out them getting deleted. Ever time I posted over "THERE" they deleted my posts. Nels and Lou hate me. So I hope to makes some great friends here. This site is so much better than fs.com. Faster downloads no login screens. I am 18 years old and have started flight training, so I guess this is my intro screen for everyone to see. I didn't know where to post it. Thanks,MichaelPS: They deleted my account beacuse I said Avsim was better. That is lu…

I would like to say that this is one of the most buggy flightsims to be released to date. Also, this is basicly a patch to fix the weather engine. Nothing else has seem to been improved.Mike

All you lawyer gurus out there, I am wondering two things:1) Since I own FS2004, is it safe to make an archive copy of this software(or any software, for that matter), in case the inevitable something happens?2) I highly dis-like the fact that M$ requires that I have my CD4 in the CD drive at all times in order for me to utilize FS2004. I am wondering when the inevitable 'no cd patch' becomes available, is this legal to use?I really do hate the legal climate that we live in, that I as a consumer of software in this US of A cannot know the answer to two really simple questions :(

I'm not trying to start any wars here, just expressing my opinion to enerate more opinions from the public. I just noticed the price for FS2004 and I was shocked. CA$80 + Tax. :-lol You've got to be kidding me. I don't know about you guys but all I see in FS2004 is FS2002 with a new sky color, some tweaked clouds which are still not volumetric, some more planes and a couple more tweaks/additions to the rest of the code. Now MS prices this at 80 bucks?? Come on! There is not really any competition left so they are taking advantage now. If it was a preice like all other games (CA$50) I would maybe buy it. Now instead of making the planes better quality and the flig…

We are painfully aware of the forum slowdown over the last couple of days. The issue is not bandwidth; we have plenty of that, and message traffic is NOT clogging the pipe. The issue is purely the number of folks accessing the forums since FS2004 became visible on the horizon. See the graph below. http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/26501.gif Log entries are basically the number of times the forums are "visited" in a given day. Though the messages haven't necessarily increased in number, the number of people accessing the forum has multiplied astromically! So hang in there folks. We hope the flurry of activity we are seeing here settles down to a low roar in the coming …

Hi all,I just read the entire interview with Tom linked from the front page.I have never read such an insight into Avsim, and of course Tom's opinion of the future of simming. He makes a lot of good points and if you have not read it. Go read it, the whole thing. You can read the article here:http://www.fsinflight.com/FSI4%20CONTENT/I...THINTERVIEW.htmSo with that. Thanks Tom, oh and one more suggestion. How about a west coast conference next year. :)Thanks to Avsim, and the entire Volunteer staff for giving us a community to further our love of simming. I appreciate it.Best Regards,Joe http://www.pbase.com/image/17687844.jpg.Politics - Give Me Liberty or Give Me Deathh…
