Scott was the captain of Colgan 9446, On 8-26-03 He lost his life along with his 1st officer Steven Dean. Scott was a great guy, Who was also an A&P Mechanic, So he gravitated towards "Us Grease Monkeys" He was the consumate employee, who would go out of his way to make his passengers comfortable! For example, On a hot day in KLGA, He would drag the filthy air conditioning hose from the jetway, and stick it in the cargo door to precool the A/C Because he cared. He could have said thats a ramprat's job, But that was the way Scott was! He was on a Indy Pit crew, And I was on a SCCA Pit crew, So we Bonded instantly, And spent long hours talking of racing ;) He would give…

I took this photo at Bournemouth airport yesterday, could you give your comments please - do you think it is okay for Airliners.net? Is it too grainy? I just don't want to annoy the screeners by uploading a bad photo! Thanks for any comments :)The photo is at http://galileo.spaceports.com/~andy29/pic1.jpgBTW it is quite large so it might take a while to download on a slow connection.

Hi all sorry to bother you...I am tired of getting kicked out of places that are close to my local airport...Cleveland Hopkins..#38 in movement. I wrote a letter to the Airport Commissioner and have not gotten a response back...it has been about a month since I wrote the letter...so I am combing the internet looking for people to back me and join together for our rights to photograph aircraft. I am not looking to get on airport property (but that would be ok to) There are a few areas surrounding the airport that would be ideal but I keep getting harrased and asked to leave which I do right away. I just want some answers here and no offical person seems to care...so if eno…

From CNN.com...."MOUNTAIN HOME, Idaho (AP) -- A jet in the Air Force's elite Thunderbirds flight unit crashed at an air show Sunday, but the pilot ejected with only minor injuries and no injuries on the ground were reported. About 85,000 spectators looked on as one of the six Lockheed Martin F-16C Fighting Falcons performing crashed during the "Gunfighter Skies 2003" air show at Mountain Home Air Force Base, about 50 miles southeast of Boise. Capt. Chris Stricklin ejected safely and was taken to a medical facility on base. Hi,If you're like me, you have many dust covered jewel cases next to your pc. You bought them compulsively- when they came out as flightsimming related addons, you simply had to have them! And you tried to hide the credit card bill, so your girlfriendspouse wouldn't see how much you spend each month on fsimming software. So here's my list of the best and worst of'em. Mmm, could I have a refund for some of them?Best:1. Wilco's PIC B767. My neighbour, a commercial pilot, saw the manuals and said- hide these, because if the police see them, they'll arrest you for planning a terrorist attack with a 767. That's realism!2.Proflight 2000. Would anyone care to comment on/explain why US Airways announced today that it was going to split its regional jet purchases equally between Embraer (85 ERJ-170s) and Bombardier (65 CRJ2s and 20 CRJ7s)? Normally I'd say they must know something I don't, but given the way the airlines are running themselves into the ground these days, I don't have that kind of confidence anymore. Just seems silly to me--go with one or the other (*cough* Bombardier *cough*) and save big bucks on pilot training, mechanic training, and so on. I know that sometimes there are good reasons to have a mixed fleet--certain Boeings v. certain Airbuses and so on--but the CRJ7 and the ERJ-170 have …

Hi fellow pilots!I've been researching some information from NASA about how aircraft actually fly, and it turns out that lift generated from pressure differentials between the underside of the wing and the upper wing only accounts for about 2 percent of the lift!! The rest of the lift is actually generated from the reaction caused (Newton's third law of motion dictates that every action is directly opposed by a reaction of equal magnitude) by "pushing" the air downwards. Many experiments have been performed on wings and it has been found that the overall shape of the cross-section of an efficient wing works extremely well at displacing air downwards, hence causing a lift …
