It's a .mov file, so you might have to download a player. It's a Dutch commercial.Little background: the Dutch are playing an important soccermatch this coming Saturday against Austria. The Austrian soccerteam has flown in yesterday in Amsterdam.I am not sure HOW they made this commercial, but it is GOODhttp://www.blognewsnetwork.com/members/000...ainSpeaking.movand yes moderators, there's a plane involved....

Anyone know what happened to Wilco van Deijl? If you remember, he was the creator of the nice utility Ground Proximity Warning System 98 V8.0.

Tomorrow the Dutch soccer team plays against the Austrian team in order to qualify for the European Championship.Heineken created a series of commercials to support the Dutch team and the pay-off of each commercial is 'Heel Holland Helpt'. This means something like 'everyone in Holland helps'.With this background info in mind, have a look at this commercial:http://www.tbm.tudelft.nl/webstud/9202359/landing.mpgTo be honest I doubt if it is real Heineken commercial, because the source is TU Delft (Dutch Technical University). Nevertheless, the movie is just great.Enjoy!!

was my post removed? It is decent that when an admin removes a valid post to at least via PM state why it was removed so that the users can take this into "account" the next time?Original post:==============Dear readers and Avsim staff,The inactivity policy, which is mentioned above the forum in red, has one huge flaw in it. Inactivity should not automaticly mean account deletion. Why? Simple... I've been away from this forum for more than 90 days and after that period, when I returned, I found out that it could have been anyone that could recreate my account and start impersonating me. Which means:- He/she could send or (even worse) receive PM's meant for me. -> Priva…

Hi,I've been working on a fuel system for a DC-9-41 sim. thanks to many who have helped answer many questions, but I have a few more about how the real system works.1) When the aux. transfer pump is triggered, while in "Auto" mode, will it keep transfering fuel at a maximum rate until it's empty or the center is full? ...or will it keep the center at an even 900 Kgs as long as it's capable of doing so?1b) what is the rate of transfer for the aux. pump?2) when the aux. transfer pump is set in the "Test" mode, is this a momentary switch or will it stay in the "On" position? does it actually transfer fuel or just illuuminate the annunciator light?3) What are some real life r…

Hi guysHope this is the correct forum as I am not sure where to post this inquiry.I have had a request from a friend who listens to his air-band receiver. He can hear a/c departing and arriving our local a/port( East Midlands UK). He has asked if I know of a pc programme (preferably freeware) that would enable him to observe the a/c on his pc monitor like an AT Controller.Any help would be appreciated.

This is a topic from "Can you land an aircart during an Emergency".With technology today, not only in the aircraft but high speed interconnect from the aircraft to ground, why, during an emergency, coundn't the aircraft be controlled by a ground based (simulator interface) with a pilot and get an aircraft potentially back to mother earth? We all know that AP is really sophisticated these days and we have seen that while on flights for years. In the 60's they had it and "autoland" was there plus other features. A pilotless flight has been a vision for a long time and the industry has worked on it. Is there some reason why this technology could not be used today for situatio…

As I was heading across the Desert a few monthes back, at the height of the Iraqi war, and wanting to cut through R2515 around Edwards Air Force Base, I had the following exchange with Joshua Approach... Joshua Approach, Musketeer 123 requesting transition through R2515. Joshua: Restricted area currently off limits, but let me talk to them at Edwards. (About 20 seconds of dead air and then Joshua came back to me.) Joshua: Musketeer 123, Proceed through the restricted area as requested, they need some practice on slow targets. -----------------------------------While flying through Colorado Springs Class C the other day, I heard the following exchange: United 1234: "Spring…

Has anyone attended or visited this school? I am 90% sure I will be attending this school for Aviation Maintenance Tech. training. I will be taking the Airframe and Powerplant course, which is 19 months long. When that is completed, I will immediately be taking the Avionics course, which is an additional 19 months. I just wanted to get anyone's opinion on the school if they know or heard anything. Thanks,Todd

For those of you who don't recognize the meaning of the subject line, here is a brief description: About two months after 9/11 an Airbus 300 (I think it was a 300) crashed after take-off in New York. The NTSB's primary focus was wake turbulence and Airbus's composite tail.I watched a discovery channel documentery about this. My question isn't about what exactly caused the crash though. My question has to do with procedures when encountering wake turbulence. So, I don't want to see negative posts about Airbus or AAL or the pilots of the plane. Create a seperate post if all you want to do is bash others. Thanks. So, what are the procedures that a pilot should go through when…

I just wanted to convey this to all the people that knew John Consterdine. His body was found August 7th in a farm field off M56, he had been missing since June 4th. http://216.239.37.104/search?q=cache:XKyLz...&hl=en&ie=UTF-8 John, AKA FSTipster, was a frequent visitor to the Simviation forums and led a major roll in the battle against FSPlanet. We at the SimV forums have just learned about this tragedy and have lost a good friend. Anyone that knew John knew how he loved flight simming. He did many round the world flightsim trips in the default Baron 58, leading the RTW adventures, the 2003 was to be his latest, but after late May, no one in the FS community hear…

I have my second interview at WestJet this Thursday for a CSA position at CYXX. I was wondering what the interview process was like? And what kinds of things they ask specifically? I'm sure it will be a lot of scenario stuff and what not to see how we interact and what our attitudes are like after the 2.5 hour interview. That's so long! Who'da thunk a CSA position would require a 2.5 hour interview :-eekSo if there are any WestJetters using this forum could you give me some advice?? Thanks a lot! And hopefully I'll be your co-worker soon.Local Air is Better Air- www.hawkair.ca

I've finally replaced my ancient, broken VCR (with a corded remote!) with a new VCR. At the same time, I picked up a DVD player as well. (And yes, I have my reasons for wanting separate units as opposed to a combination DVD/VCR.) I got the VCR hooked up last night and ran a tape. It works fine. But now I can't figure out how to hook up the DVD player to the same TV. :-zhelp The VCR instructions don't mention DVDs, and the instructions for the DVD specifically say not to hook it up to a VCR and then hook the VCR to the TV. There must be a way to do this.... any advice, guys? Please keep in mind I am NOT a gadget genius or technogeek. None of my electronic is top o…

I have a question about flying big passenger aircraft like the B747-400... Take a look at this picture..http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/31914.jpgI get the feeling that it isn't really comfortable for the passengers inside when the plane is flying in this high angle. I'm flying at 34000 feet at a speed that's even above the specified cruising speed. Autopilot engaged. Still the plane is angled upwards a little. I take it that planes don't actually fly like this in real life? So how do i trim the aircraft so it'll fly horizontally? This plane is the original boeing 747-400 in FS2003.Will be grateful for an answer./Erik

Yesterday my wife and I drove over to the aviation museum at the airport in Charlotte, NC. Their DC-3 is back from its trip to Oshkosh. What an airplane. It has to be one of the prettiest things you would ever want to see.If any of you get the chance to visit there, the trip will be well worth it.Here is a link to their web site: http://www.chacweb.com/

What is the deal with Thomas Cook, JMC, and Condor? Are they the same airline? Are they owned by one group? What about the paint schemes? I think this question can also go for TUI? Is TUI a conglomorate of a bunch of airlines too? Thanks for any clarification! -drew-
