looks like the 737 ng has grabbed another american customer, this time its another low fare airline which i myself have grown to love, yup thats right, airtran has made an order for 100 737-700's and -800's a 50/50 split with winglets i believe in order to expand their long range services. Airtran is currently leasing two a320's from ryan air to fly their atl to lax service and will be using the new 737's in this route and others, i have no clue when the first plane will roll out, but i cant wait to see a real one take off from atl hehe, for a pic of the plane or more news either vist www.airtran.com or www.boeing.com and check out the news releases. this is an exciting t…

I've been reading a fascinating account of the history of commercial aviation. Thought it would be fun to post some trivia?1. What did the initials TWA originally stand for? Why did the airline change its name?2. What was the first commercial airliner capable of routine service across the continent, going both ways?3. Name the stops on the first trans-pacific route flown by the Pan Am Clippers.4. True or false - a DC can take off out of Denver and fly over the continental divide on one engine?5. Name the airline that Boeing controlled until it became illegal to do so?6. What year did the first jetliner enter commercial service - and what was the route?Just a start…

Very sad news.Lieutenant Commander Bill Murton, 45, and Neil Rix, 29, were crewing the Fairey Firefly vintage naval aircraft when it came down near the Duxford airfield in Cambridgeshire, on the eastern side of the M11 at about 1430 BST today. Both guys lost their lives. http://mysite.freeserve.com/fly2theuk/firefly.gifSteve.http://mysite.freeserve.com/fly2theuk/aragon.jpg][/divTHERE'S A BIG WAVE COMING!Whats New!http://mysite.freeserve.com/fly2theuk/fly2theuk/whatsnew.htmMy United Kingdom Scenery.http://library.avsim.net/search.php?CatID=...&Go=Change+Viewhttp://mysite.freeserve.com/fly2theuk/avsim/bart.htm

Hi! What is a Line Pilot, and how are they different from other pilots? Along the same lines, what's a line technician or line guy? I think I'm missing a piece of terminology here, and I'd like clarification so I can sound like I know what I'm talking about. :-) Are FARs something you refer to as a reference, or do you read them from cover to cover? Thanks!*edit* Just realized my subject line looked stoopid. I was trying to say "About Line Pilots...", not On-Line pilots.

The latest threads regarding the piracy of FS2004, and the means some companies are being forced to protect their investments have led me to relate some of my life experiences, because they definitely apply.I am 37 years young. I have a wife, 3 kids, and work for a KVM switch manufacturer. We publish software for use with our switches, and some of them have licence fees. I also worked for 2 years as games tester for Microsoft. And 20 years ago, I was a huge Commodore 64 pirate. I estimated the street value of my software at the height of my piracy at over $20,000 dollars (1984 dollars). This piracy continued for roughly two years. My friends and I would often have "cop…

Hey all --There was a post today in the PMDG Support forum that reminded me a large problem in this hobby. A person said he got a time limited demo, and he didn't like it and wanted to uninstall it. He wanted to know how to go about uninstalling(the NG does not have an uninstall feature...don't ask me why, I just beta test the thing ;-))And before I go on, I am not accusing this person of having an illegal copy of anything, this post just happened to remind me of this said problem(which I will mention shortly ;-)) I find it incredible that people would download warez from there buddies, P2P networks, etc, let alone demand support from the very companies that they are s…

What liverys do you think fit a certain aircraft well? I think the old Northwest colors fit the CRJ the best. and the A320 in the old and new NWA colors fit the A320 the best. http://www.airliners.net/open.file/376571/L/

Hey Everyone,I'm currently paying $95/hour (rental AND instruction) in a C152. The cost without instruction is $69...I've been comparing these to other prices, and I've seen an average to about $55, and as low as $49. I take lessons at Monmouth Executive airport, right in the heart of New Jersey. The price seems high to me- what do you guys think? Eagles View Aviation, where I fly at, says it will take about $6500 to get a PPL, whilst other schools (not in the state/area) are saying $3500-$5000... Could it just be that I have the unfortune of all the NJ "we gotta be perfect" taxes and high prices gallore, or am I getting a bad deal? The school has a great reputation, and …

Hello All,Well, it's time for me to look for colleges. I am considering a few, and one of them is ofcourse Embry-Riddle. However, I would also like to know about other colleges that offer a degree in Aerospace Engineering that have a good reputation like Embry-Riddle. I know there is one in North Dakota or something like that but I don't know the name.So my question to you all:Can you give me any suggestions to schools that I should look into?BTW,I am going to apply to Cal-Tech and MIT but since these schools are long shots, I am not keeping my hopes up.Also, if you have any other suggestions as per majors, minors, and other things, please fell free to tell me.You can als…
