Turns out Air Canada will continue flying for the time being. Last night was almost the end. Could you imagine? Canada's only major international air carrier going down...that would have been a catastrophe! But it turns out, Jazz is changing to take over all short-haul and medium-haul domestic and trans-border routes with a smaller fleet of regional jets...read here:http://www.mytelus.com/news/article.do?pag...ticleID=1338690But see where it says 70-seat regional jets? Does anyone know if that will be CRJ700's or ERJ-170's?? Gotta be one or the other, right? You'd think the CRJ's at first to keep commonality b/w aircraft, but when purchasing ERJ's, Air Canada could get som…

Ok, get yer minds out of the gutter ;)Just found a neat little book in our local library:"Your Flight Questions Answered by a jetliner pilot" [sic].by John Cronin.Despite possibly the single worst illustration of a jet I've ever seen on the cover, the inside goes through some interesting stuff.Questions like,"My flight was cancelled due to poor visibility, but then the flight crew and airliner took off without me and the other passengers. Why?"and"What is that little red and white shack I see by the runway?"The questions/answers in the book are pretty general, and if you're really well-versed in commercial operations you can probably skip it, I dunno.Otherwise, cool.Andrew

Due to the recent cancellation of all British owned flights to Kenya (for the foreseeable future), my original plan for my honeymoon this coming August looks likely to be completely off :-(. So, I've been looking at other locations. High on the list are Thailand, Mexico, and some of the islands in the Indian Ocean (Seychelles, Maldives etc). However, from browsing the brouchures, it appears that August is actually quite wet in these locations :-(. Could anyone whose been to any of these locations in August give some feedback on what the climate is like there? Also, if any location seems like it might not be too bad, any suggestions of where to go and what to do would be we…

Hey gang,Could someone out there explain the concept behind the old interline services (and sorry if I date you, but it was before my 24-year-old time)? I'm guessing it was the predecessor to code-sharing. How exactly did the interline work? Thanks!

Hello folks,I am writing my final thesis for BBA program. I habe choosen my favourite Research about "How can European Airline survive in the Air Transport". This focus on Crisis Management and Airline Management. This also refers to many bankcruptcy of Airline in the US, in Europe and in Asia. However I will focus only in Europe. I would need past papers or maybe a source where I could find more info. IATA wants you to pay for info. Also great ideas are welcomed. I think that this is a really interesing research. We know or think that Airline have some sort of crisi plan but always fail to implement them. Also This is connected to the Sept. 11th attach, travel fear, SAR…

Hello All,Well as often happen in this life, I have been using a SunCom SFS throttle, (the one with two handles together), and one of the kids killed it. circuit board inside is destroyed and its dead meat.Does anyone know a establishment who is still selling those? I think, (not completely sure, but the website isn't there any longer), that they were bought out and stopped making fs stuff.Anyways, if some one has one of these which is like new they would like to sell, please contact me, or if you know of an establishment who still has one in inventory.Best to all,Clayton T. Hi all,Recently got back into flying PIC, and for some reason I cannot get the power below about 33% N1 in the air. So on touchdown I need to pull them back to idle before reverse thrust and speedbrakes can be used. It is fully calibrated, should I get the CH yoke software? I'm really confused as to what would cause this. Thanks,

Hey gang,I think this may have been asked before...but here goes:1) What would happen if I took my 231 V-6 out of my Buick (aah, what an engine) and put it in a Cessna? I guess what I'm driving at here is the differences between car and airplane engines. I would think that if an auto engine would have some application in airplanes that General Motors and Ford would be competing for some of the market.2) I don't think this one has been asked before...On my car, the water pump, alternator, compressor, and power steering pump are all mounted on the front of the engine (well, technically it's the left side since it's a FWD car...but I digress), and the output shaft goes into …

True story...happened last week...Two Concorde passengers are believed to have joined the mile high club only feet away from the airline's boss. The Spanish couple claim they had sex as they sat together covered by a blanket. A stewardess tipped off BA's chief executive Rod Eddington, 53, who was sitting three rows behind the lovers. But the Sun reports he smiled and said: "Let them enjoy themselves!" A fellow passenger said: "The couple tried to be discreet but the cabin crew soon knew what was going on. Concorde is quite small inside, so it was hard not to notice." A BA spokesman said: "We certainly want the last few months of Concorde to be a celebration - but this pai…

Memorial Day is much more than a three-day weekend that marks thebeginning of summer. To many people, especially the nation's thousandsof combat veterans, this day, which has a history stretching back allthe way to the Civil War, is an important reminder of those who diedin the service of their country. In remembrance of my Marine brothers who paid the Ultimate Priceduring the Vietnam War.Semper FiTom G, Sr.
