OK, I can't beleive I'm asking this, but here goes...I was looking at a picture of a 777 yesterday, and it had chocks under the nosegear to stop it rolling.Hang on! These things have parking brakes. Why the chocks? Is it because the brakes might fail???Another issue of concern is, what if the plane rolled forward three inches? The ground crew couldn't remove the chocks with the weight of a fully-laden 777 resting against them. What am I missing???CheersAllblack

But it left before I could get a picture :(I was driving by the Buffalo Niagara airport last night, and I caught a glimpse of it from far away. I drove around until I was able to get close enough to see it and it was this one:http://www.airliners.net/open.file?id=0047...atic=yes&size=LI didn't have my camera with me, so I waited until this morning and drove back there but it was already gone. I heard Fedex was evaluating them, but I was surprised to see it at Buffalo. The runway there is only 8104 feet I beleive. I'm sure it can operate empty, but not sure if it is a viable option from a smaller city.

    9. You are flying at 11,000 feet at 280 knots. ATC clears you to 8,000 and requests that you keep your speed up. According to FAR 91.117(a), you must:1.Comply with ATC's request.2.Slow to below 250 knots.3.Slow to below 200 knots.

I'm hoping someone can help me out 'cause I don't see a solution. My work computer (the one I'm using right now) is an off-the-shelf HP P4 1.8G running Windows XP home. I have Netscape v7.0 as my default browser. I keep getting a pop up note that Netscape has an update available (v7.02) and do I want to download and install it. Well, I click Okay to download the exe but for some reason the file gets a new extension ".dwt" -- and WindowsXP refuses to open it. When I try to save it on my harddrive, there is no option for saving it with an extension other than "dwt" -- which extension apparently is tacked on by Windows XP. So how do I get my update? I know some of you al…

Dear Flight Simulation Fans,I'm conducting research for a Salon.com feature article that I'm preparing to write about home computer flight simulation programs. If you're an active or retired commercial pilot who is also familiar with Microsoft Flight Simulator or Fly!, I'd enjoy hearing your thoughts about how the simulated versions of Boeing or Airbus jets compare to the real thing.Conversely, if you're a seasoned flight simmer who does not have a pilot's license but happens to have logged a little time in a professional simulator at a training facility just for kicks, I'd love to know how well the expertise you gleaned from PC flight sims prepared you to handle the big …

I guess by their polls, or whatever, Discovery Wings thinks all anyone wants to see during the "normal operating hours" ;) are shows about fighter jets, the Luftwaffe, Desert Storm, and the same tired 3-minute filler about landing an acrobatic trike or how crazy the SR-71 is.Almost every time I cue up I get grainy black-and-white footage of something including men in trenches...Come on! I know I can program my VCR, and I guess I'm gonna have to... But why oh why aren't there more shows on 737s, flight deck operation, ATC, and so forth? I know there are a few, but really.Ah, just ranting. Guess I'll try to find their site and a schedule. Hmph.Andrew

I don't know how many of you know this, but FSPlanet's head review is a 12 year old :-hmmm I (foolishly) ran across one of their reviews about an MD600 Helicopter and notice that 9/10 of the article is just copied word for word out of the readme or other site reviews, and manufacturer. Then at the end of the article we get a seven sentence, poorly grammar, pro's and cons about the wonderufl work of art. I just love how he states "this copter is goood in way many but are al so many bad thingd about it" and states how the author could have worked harder on it instead of being in a rish and releasing an incomplete package... I really wonder how Ferdy finds these people to re…

Heres the email, it says "The information is in the attached file." but there is no attached file.... I don't think its a prank or a virus because ive scanned the email for viruses and nothing shows up. I highly dought its anything pertaining to Fs in any way.... Why would they want to spend time a…

Hey gang,I just saw a news release from Boeing dated Friday the 16th stating that the company is accepting proposals from states for consideration as the location of the final assembly plant for the new 7E7. www.boeing.com/news/releases If you follow the links to the 7E7 page and then click on "What's New," you can even view the criteria the company is looking for in a location. All of this intrigues me. Boeing, betting the near future of its mid-range production on this new 7E7, decides to invest hundreds of millions of dollars on a new plant for this new plane. That part doesn't surprise me too much, I guess, as they might need more space. The first thing that popped in…

I am creating a plane in FSDS V2 and have been working on a virtual cockpit and it is not showing up on the external view, which means the windows are empty, yet when you get 'into' the virtual cockpit view mode inside, everything is there. Where did I go wrong? (This is a blast creating these planes)!Blue side up!!!Bill

Greetings forum! On Roy Chaffin's website at http://www.roychaffin.com/rcs-panels.html a statement is published regarding the position of RCS in the controversy with MAAM. I was especially happy to see that Roy has no objection at all to Bill Rambow publishing, here or anywhere else, whatever documents that could be considered a written agreement between MAAM and RCS.I'm looking forward to this agreement being made available to us by MAAM-SIM, so all speculations about its contents will die down, and peace and quiet will return in the flightsim community.Jaap Verduijn.

Hello Gentleman,I just returned from the Alaska State Aviation and Trade Show and have some pictures of it that I can post. However, Not sure where to post them. It was a real nice day here in Anchorage and the show was at the Fedex Hanger and Ted Stevens International Airport. I also stopped by the Alaska Heritage Museum and got some pics there too. Rich in history that is for sure. If an Avsim official could give me alittle guidence I will start the posting for your viewing enjoyment.Fly Safe AllDave
