Hello, Me and my friend are going from Newark, Liberty International Airport to Lisbon, Portugal on TAP Air Portugal Airline, and we were just wondering what the inflight movies/entertainment was? Also I've heard many non satisfying things about TAP Air Portugal, the most that stands out is the old looking planes. That's something that strikes me, because I don't like being in an old looking plane. If anybody has taken a TAP flight or anything, please give me some details. Thank you in advance. Reason we have to go on TAP is because of the short notice on the tickets. It is also a shame being Portuguese and having the Portuguese airline, look so bad. Again thank you.

I've been considering replacing my very old CH Products flight yoke with a more up to date USB version, but now I'm considering moving to a joystick. After looking around and giving it a little bit of notice, I'm seeing that many aircraft are now moving over to having joystick-type configurations instead of flight yokes. So, what I once considered making my flights more relistic may eventually take realism away. For instance, take a look at the flight decks of both the Cirrus SR-20 and SR-22 (http://cirrusdesign.com/aircraft/gallery/). Here's a general aviation aircraft which does not have a flight yoke. Also, for commercial aircraft, look at the Airbus A380 (http://ai…

Any of you see this NEW episode on Discovery Wings? It was a nice treat to watch from eleven to midnight last night. It spanned the whole history of the 777 and everything about it. The last half hour of it was the best part in my opinion. It was the last week of a AA777 Pilot before he had to retire (FAA Law at 60). Interesting story, getting to see actual footage of a 777 flight and all, everything that goes on. Since its discovery wings, it whould be showing 10 or so times today :-lol If you have an hour to spare, I suggest you watch it! :-jumpyJason :-wave

I went for a trial flight the other day and noticed that I get more blurries in real life than actually FS2002.I mean surely he would be able to purchase a better card than a TI-4200?Compare these two pictureshttp://www.nzdragons.com/laurence/airport.jpgandhttp://www.nzdragons.com/laurence/chch.jpgI think microsoft is making it to unrealistic, I can clearly see the runway in FS2002 yet try and find the grass runway in Gods one is a lot harder. And those blurries, God just doesn't have them right does he, I mean I should be able to see clearer a lot further than what I get in the airport.jpg - I'm asking God for my money back. This post is not aimed at any one person, and is…

Hi everyone, In a few weeks, I'll be heading on a United Airlines 733 and A320 down to Florida, and like every other aviation enthusiast, I would love to take pictures inside the plane and maybe videotape takeoff through my window. So in light of cell phone use prohibitions on airplanes, is there any chance that my camcorders or digital camera may be a problem for the aircraft's systems? Thank you very much for any replies in advance.Regards,Canadian Hawk.

Going DCT sometimes seems so much shorter, and also there sometimes are "holes" in the airway network that would need to be bridged by going DCT from one airway to another. Is that common in real life?

Today, 6/25/03, I posted in this thread, located in the FS Main Forum:[a href=http://forums.avsim.com/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=121&topic_id=118286&mesg_id=118286&page=]#### 737-XXXliverys[/a]In which I offered my viewpoint about ####'s repaint policy. I also said Peter Tishma was a crook. The moderator for the FS forum, JP, edited my post and told me to refrain from name calling. Now, lets step back and consider the facts. He(Mr. Peter Tishma of WAS, PT, ####, etc etc) went to court, and from what I understand was convicted of stealing works of other FS authors. Sounds like being a crook. Avsim itself said that Mr. Tishma stole things in this art…

while searching the Internet for performance data on an aircraft I came across http://www.altaimagem.com.br/flightsimulator/home.htmlFrom what I can understand of Portugese it appears to be an impressive collection but getting distribution release from all the freeware designers for such a project must simply be an enormous task.Anyone know anything more specific about the product and or the distributor?Cheers,-T

http://www.avsim.com/other/usaribbon.gifTodd IngallsMember of [link:www.grid.org/services/teams/team.htm?id=5E79C613-0A60-4A3B-BDC1-F9EE49F2D4FE]Join the AVSIM Team Fight Against Cancer!]
[/table.----BEGIN FS CODE BLOCK----G:EDNX(D…

http://www.wired.com/news/politics/0,1283,59305,00.htmlSenator Hatch, the idiot in the news recently for proposing that companies be permitted to destroy the computers of people who download copyright materials for the internet should be careful what he asks for.Turns out that the scripts he used to make the menus on his website are actually illegally using unlicensed software, making him a target of his "idea".Read the article, it's really interesting, considering that Continental Airlines is pulling the same scam. I used to use (a correctly registered version) of those menus, and I really hope that the author gets some compensation for it!

I've heard a certain talk-show host brag about having a private jet. That's made me wonder, how hard does a personal pilot for a celebrity work? I mean, does the pilot basically sit around all day doing nothing until the call comes in to fly somewhere? Anyone have any idea how compensation works - are they paid based on the number of trips in a given month?

On the A330, there are two gauges that I guess come as an option. They are located to the left of the PFD (captain seat), right of PFD (copilot seat). I tried to find out what they were, but Airliners.net doesn't have all too many photos of the flight deck. Here's what I'm talking about (right under the light to the left of the PFD). http://www.airliners.net/open.file/275916/L/The only picture with one of those gauges installed: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/066183/L/Anyone know what can be installed there?

Hi! I'm not a pilot, so when my wife told me she was getting me a plane ride for Farther's Day I was really excited. The she popped a question I didn't actually have the answer for.... I've got a one year old son. Can he go up with me? Does he need a special seat or something? Beyond the technical and FAA questions...has anyone else taken up a child this young? Did they actually enjoy it? Was it too loud? It's funny...it's always been my dream to get a license and fly my family out to see relatives and stuff but it never occurred to me that not everyone would be able to go with me..."Bye, little Timmy!!!!" :-lolTIA!
