" In 1934 the Berliner Illustrirte Zeitung ran an article about a miraculous new invention that allowed men to fly using their lung power as the sole source of propulsion. Users of the device simply blew into a box attached to their chest. This activated rotors that created a powerful suction effect that then lifted the user up into the air. Skis were worn as landing gear. Accompanying the article was a photograph of the device in action. The picture was picked up and widely distributed in the United States by International News Photo."I wonder if MSFS can model this in 2004?http://www.museumofhoaxes.com/top1004.htmlhttp://saltydogfly2.avsim.net/images/avsim_sig.jpg

http://www.suntimes.com/output/news/cst-nws-meigs08.htmlIn as little as a few weeks the runway will be finished being torn up, and Meigs will be nothing but a memory. Can't say that I'm surprised though, after all this is Illinois politics. It's really a shame we'll be losing a much needed 'revenue' booster for the area, and instead we'll be getting outdoor ping-pong tables! Forest Gump would be proud! Can see all the new convention business we get now! Whoooo!

Has anyone ever heard of these guys? They had a B707 land here today at PHNG. airliners.net only shows one B707 and it a -320. The one here has a different paint scheme as well and I believe it is only a -120. Airliners says they do tanking missions for the Air Force. Though the pics on airliners and the B707 here neither have the boom that KC-135's have. Didn't look at plane closely to see if it had another way of refueling. Have to say it is a very nice paint scheme. Was a very busy day here at PHNG(Kaneohe Bay). Along with the B707, we have F/A-18's, C-130's, C-40, Japanese P-3's(they are on their annual det here) as well a very rare visitor here a Hawaiian Air …

Ok kids, sit back and I will read you a story.A long time ago in a land far far away there were two kids. One was named Bill and the other one was name Steven. Bill set out one day to seek his fortune by buying the copyright to a disk operating system and licensing it to a big bad company named IBM. Although Bill didn't write the DOS himself he was smart enough to make IBM have to pay for it every time they made a personal computer to sell to someone. Wasn't Bill smart? Bill named his newly aquired operating system MS-DOS. Steven set out one day to seek his fortune too. He didn't want to buy a disk operating system and license it to anybody, Steven wanted to…

Looks like JetBlue is on the move...wonder if they are going to ditch their Airbus line??Embraer today announced an order from JetBlue Airways for 100 EMBRAER 190 airliners with deliveries starting in the third quarter of 2005. The airline also took options on 100 additional EMBRAER 190s. The total value of the firm contract at list price is US$ 3 billion, with a potential value of more than US$ 6 billion if all options are converted. Was brousing the Boeing site and came across a triva page for the B737 series aircraft. Quite a bit of neat info...Here are a few:-I thought this one was the biggest eye catcher, most would think that with all the new tech in the NG's they would have more wire in them, but when you think about it, it does make since...There are approximately 36.6 miles of wire on the Next-Generation 737-600/-700/-800/-900 models, four miles less than the 737-300/-400/-500 models. The 737 fleet has produced more than 124 million hours of revenue service for its operators -- equivalent to about 12,400 years of continuous service. On the average about 1,200 737s are in the air at all time…

After seeing the recent incident with Kari Virtanen and the issue that he may have "aquired" information to use in his own model I got to looking around. As most of you long time AVSIM members are aware this subject seems to come up on a regular cycle here on the forums. So I did some reserch and here is what I found. from what I can gather Kari has done absolutly nothing in error. The concept and ideas of the original programs or files, and also the method may be protected but the technicle calculations of doing it is not. here is one sentence in the copyright act of the USA that stands out."In no case does copyright protection for an original work of authorship extend to…

YES you heard me, Delta might end up like United soon if the government doesn't provide more funding for security on all US flights (in this case Delta Airlines). If this gets more on the news let's just hope for the best for Delta (and United right now). Although I heard about this just this morning on Channel 4 (MSNBC for Detroit, Michigan)just listening for my daily local news and this came up. For those who fly Delta a lot and will or want to fly Delta (like myself after flying Northwest all the time) I just hope that this almost terrible incident won't happen or get bad at all.Of all my favorite airlines in the world why Delta ?PS: You should REALLY be ashamed of you…

Thought this was kind of interesting- I found this ad over at EasyJet's website... Does European and American comedy differ that much? Even though I think they are referring to a "jack a$$" (donkey in the picture) , Isnt using the word "@$$" kind of...crude for an advertisment? (Referring to a donkey or not :-lol )What do you guys think of this? http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/14818.jpgJason :-lol :-wave

A couple of days ago I clocked out of work and began to enjoy the phenomenon known as a hard day's night. It was late, and I didn't want to cook at home. I felt the impulse to go for tex-mex. I went to the Taco Johns drive through (I eat in the parking lot- it's bad enough that their food is dirty, but I won't eat in a dirty restaurant). I'm sitting there, enjoying my number six, looking on to the intersection of University and Grand, and my eyes focus on what just pulled up to the light. A Caddy DeVille. Not just any DV. This one is barbie-freaking-pink. It's a Mary Kay Caddy. I was amused and amazed! The thing is, these things are a sort of cultural oddity, th…

Hi,I wanted to talk a little bit about my love for aviation and maybe give others a chance to do the same in replies if they wished to do so.How'd I get into aviation? Well it was 3 things that gave me the bug, actually. The first thing that got the ball rolling was back when I was about 8 or 9, my parents went on business trips occaisionally, and once in a blue moon they would take me along. Thats how I came across my first flight, which was aboard a Delta Airlines 7x7, probably a 737 but it could have been a 767. The sensation of roaring down the runway, seeing the tarmac with all the colorful lines and markings on the ground rip by, rotating, and lifting off into the s…

I have always been pretty much Pro-MS... like their products... I sometimes have some complaints... but in general I like them.I have been on XP Home Edition for about 8 months now. I have many small complaints... mostly related to how hard they make it to find things that I have been using for years... but in general it is a stable operating system.I live in Colorado... we have a law here that protects me from telephone solicitors... on top of that I pay an extra $7.00 a month to add an additional layer of that protection.Since I upgraded to this system and have been on XP I get an endless procession of unsolicited adds poping up on my screen... it is called Windows Mess…
