Hello All,You know, this is a hobby . . . an enjoyable one for most, but as in any sector or our world, there are some who relish in causing trouble, upsetting the apple cart and in general, causing others pain and misery.Someone, in our hobby, who frequents our forums has taken it upon himself to use my e mail to send out the latest virus, the worm SBig, whatever it is . . . Now, I know it was someone in OUR community because they made it clear, from the 'return mail, not delivered' I have recieved that it was pinpointed at the FS area.I do not use a e mail list, nor Microsoft outlook, I keep all my e mail contacts on a sheet of paper strictly so I DON'T have an list wh…

What do you think?I personally think it's a chance for a person to put some of their complaints in the spot light.... the article featured the words: wrong, hate, problems, bitter, etc. Ok, Benjamin Leece- most of use know this already (what you said in your article) ... Have you ever tried to build an aircraft with perfect dynamics? Looks? Feel? Maybe, but failed to do so PERFECTLY. I wonder who approves this stuff to put on the front page? I mean, he starts off with "numerous glitches in FS2002," "sparsity of decent freeware add-ons "zillions of technical issues with certain add-ons,"JEEZ! Comon! "I am VEEERY picky about control surfaces working properly"Well, then. Tel…

Sometimes there are things that happen in flying you can try to describe but....Today I spent all day flying Cap cadets at a local airport that is preparing for an open house/airshow tomorrow. After landing exhausted-I happened to be walking back all dudded up in my flight suit-and there was a little boy outside the fence (about 3) with a face like he had just seen the messiah walk by. His father explained that the boy was so geeked about the airshow/open house that starts tomorrow that he had to come out. I talked to the little boy for a while-and realized that I had made an impact on this young mind that will last a lifetime-what a responsibility and an honor! Then walkin…

Yes, there comes a time when we need to consider the overly stressed hobby of our and a recognition that we need to keep things in perspective. And what better way to do that than reviewing 2002's Darwin Awards! And here you go:"Yes, the one we've all been waiting for... the Darwin Award 2002. Thecandidates have finally been released! For those not familiar with theDarwin Award, It's an annual honor given to the person who provided theuniversal human gene pool the biggest service by getting KILLED in the mostextraordinarily stupid way. As always, competition this year has been keenagain. Some candidates appear to have trained their whole lives for thisevent!DARWIN AWARD C…

Our AV provider has informed us there is another expected breakout this evening of a variant of the SoBig virus. This will be a mutation of the one we had earlier this week. I have checked the AV provider's site and they have a test file ready and will have a new pattern file for us in a few hours (or less).Do yourselves a favor. Check your pattern file with your AV provider and make sure you have everything up to date.

There is no reason for your framerates to suffer because of a background AV program. You can disable it. If having it disabled but resident offends you get Custom Startup ($10) http://gboban.hypermart.net/ and define a profile that boots without ANY extraneous programs.

Hi!If you would start a new normal airline, based in Norway, what name would you chose? It would maybe be nice if it had anything to do with what you associate with Norway, and something that say that the airline is exclusive :-) Let me see some suggestions! :-)

As well as many other FS RELATED websites. All e-mails have a +/- 100KB attachment. See image. Note the senders and file sizes!http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/31965.jpgI know that AVSim is not purposely doing this, but what I do know is that someone is leaking out e-mail addresses or taking them somehow. 50% of all the e-mails I got this morning, (mind you my 6MB mailbox was full of them), are FS related. The others have the same big attachments just different senders.I'm really frustrated right now. The reason I bring it up here, well, FS Related, and have a look at the last sender. Keep in mind this is 1/3 of all the e-mails I got this morning. I just saved the ones t…

I've been using Proflight with FS2002- yes, it's possible!I was doing fine, enjoying the multi accent atc without a problem, compiling at least fifteen adventures. But the one evening, after selecting a flight, weather and plane and pressing compile (the process would start), I got this message- "your flight plan had errors in it and could not be completed, please contact..."I uninstalled and reinstalled PF, but the same problem occured.Any PF 2000 fans out there who can help?Eytan

Hey everyone, on my way back from vacation (on an AA F-100), after we had arrived, a passenger was having some trouble with an overhead compartment. An FA came to help her out, and said to her "thank god we're getting rid of these planes". Is there any truth to this?

My work computer seems to be infected. Drat! I know I can get a fix or patch for it through MicroTrend's Housecall antivirus program which is free. Unfortunately, my computer won't stay on long enough for me to even get to the website, much less download anything. Almost before the homepage loads up, the computer is shutting down. I'm wondering if I can download the "fix" on my other computer (the one running Win98SE), save it to disk and then install it on my work computer (which runs WinXP). Does anyone know, or should I just try it. Maybe the patch won't download unless it detects the worm on the system, in which case, I think I'm out of luck. Most likely I'll en…

Way to go Barry! I will probably solo on Wednesday in a C172SP if the winds aren't to high or crosswind. I am also 57+.What I want is some airconditioning since I am sweating bullets here in 90degree weather in Orlando, FL.No 'roos on the airport but a large eagle was soaring over the departure runway this morning during touch n goes.W. I have to ask this question because every time I see this word for some reason I nearly die laughing. When someone is explaining how he did something in MSFS which actually worked he usually describes it as "and, viola, it worked" only sometimes it's spelt "viola", other times "voila", "viloa" and even "vollia".One of my friend's daughters PLAYS the viola but, before I collapse altogether, can someone tell me what the origin, meaning and correct spelling of this word is.P
