Hi guys,I've been designated to write an article on the "Evolution of Powered Flight" for my school's science journal at the last minute...i.e. I need to have it done by tonight. It can't be too long, probably maximum of 1000words, and absolute dead maximum of 1500 words. I need some inspiration people! Actually, my brain is having an overload of information at the moment. There's too much to write about!!Can you guys please help me out by telling me what I should include? Should I focus on anything? What should I cover in particular? etcMy current idea is to do a timeline of significant aircrafts/flights in history, and these aircraft/flights have to be significant due to…

Hi,Has anyone else tried the Lock On: Modern Air Combat demo yet?I downloaded it yesterday, and even though I knew from previous experience of the Flanker sims that it would be good, nothing could have prepared me for just how fantastic it was!I love the moving shadows and heat-haze on the aircraft, and the long-time Flanker feature of *every* object in the sim being of high quality. The Mirage 2000 AI aircraft that you fly the MiG 29 against is more detailed than most player-flyable aircraft in most other sims! I've also never seen gauges move as smoothly as the ones in the A10 cockpit, fantastic!I'd love for LO:MAC to be a great success and then we might see the propose…

Go to opera.com and download version 7.20 or above and you will see that it saves the preferences of 'collapse topics' and allows you to log in and post at AVsim like I am doing right now. ;)

It was both happy and yet sad at that the same time in Toronto today. I was able to see the Concorde land at Pearson for what is the first and last time that I will ever see it. She made a beautiful approach and landing into Runway 23 and then taxied in to disembark.Tomorrow night at 18:00 local time she will depart for the last time from a Canadian airport and in three weeks time she will grace the skies no more. While never a commercial success everyone in aviation knows she was a huge technological one. I know in my heart she will be missed.Richard RoweVice President TrainingVirtual Air Canada

Do any airlines use these 330-340 a/c as freighters / cargo a/c, and/or does Airbus make such a variant?I know that freighters/cargo a/c are often older re-used models, but also note that the A-380 is planned to be manufactured in a freighter configuration.Thanks,Bruce.

Having flown sims for over 15 years, you often wonder if you would stand a chance in a real aircraft. Today was my day to find out. My real life experience consist of 40 glider flights 10 years ago, but I've never flown motorised aircraft. Today I had the opportunity to fly at the KLM flight academy, stationed at EHGG. Because all basic VFR training is done in the US, the smallest aircraft available is the Beechcraft Bonanza. Not what you would call a first lesson trainer. With its retractable gear, constant speed prop and 300 hp it's a perfect way to screw up your hopes of flying without the aid of an instructor. So what does a simmer do to prepare onself? The only option…

Hi,Boeing produced a lot of Boeing 767-300.But i am confused about the specific type numbers.I know, the trailing ER means Extended Range. The leading 767-3 means it is a member of the 767-300 family. But what do the X and Y mean in 767-3XY ?There are for example 767-332ER, 767-3G5ER and many others. Can anybody tell me how to "decode" the type number?Bodo

Here's the deal. I'm in the avsim library,(any where for that matter). But I click on the download button and I automaticly download the file to a temp folder, If I close the folder that pops-up after download it is gone and it will have to be redownloaded. The option of saving it somewhere doesn't exist. How in the world can I change it back to be able to be able to select the destination point for what I am downloading???While I'm off the subject, so to speak, The autocomplete function doesn't work, for screennames/passwords in such. The box is checked in Internet Explorer. If is checked to ask to save passwords. I get the window, click yes save password. But ne…

I was out and about, on the internet tonight, and came across this site... www.dreamwings.net This site tells the story of an South African Air Force Mirage pilot, who crashed in the line of duty. The gentleman is now a quadriplegic as a result of the accident. In any case he goal is to build a specially modifed Seawind Aircraft to be able to circumnavigate the world. They are taking donations to help with the costs. I'm no way invovled with this website, nor am I say donate. Just thought I'd pass it along as an insteresting story of aviation. :-outta http://www.flightsimnetwork.com/dcforum/User_files/3e72a43942b48d2b.jpg There is a fine line between "hobby" and…

I'm asking here, because I'm not in flight school and need more broad answers.I'm getting ready to go to nursing school and plan on staying in medicine, however, I'll be finished in about 2 years (ASN degree). I plan on getting the lessons after I graduate, obviously, since I'll have the money and time. I don't think money will be much of an issue since nursing pays extremely well. My question is, how likely is it that I'd be able to earn all the necessary rating to fly commuters, business jets, or even large airline jets when I'm already 31 years of age?I know the salary can be much less and some airline jobs are difficult to get, however, I know I want to fly and stil…

Those of you who fly for airlines, or are familiar with airline procedures, a question:What are typical RVR departure minimums? I would think it would be at least 2400ft since you otherwise would not be able to shoot the approach back into the departure airport with an immediate emergency. But someone told me that some airlines have departure RVR minimums as low as 1200ft.Any thoughts?Damon
