Since the main site seems to be down again, I've just put up the 0.11 version of the NASSP_COSTAM code at:http://mysite.freeserve.com/marui/NASSP_COSTAM0.11.zipAs mentioned, the main reason for releasing this was to add the REALISM and PRELAUNCHATC scenario options that were requested, but also it fixes one major bug and a few minor ones.Latest AGC documentation is still at:http://mysite.freeserve.com/marui/flyingsaturnv.html

Get your copy of the High Resolution Earth textures here on AVSIM.It's pretty detailed. Getting the largest map I could find on http://visibleearth.nasa.gov I made a high resolution level 8 of the Earths night lights and converted it for use in the newest version of Orbiter. You can litterally see small light specks on the ocean. Small islands.Heres a sample:It makes orbiting over the dark side of the Earth fun! :)- Jim

I am running Win 98, and Orbiter sometimes runs fine, while at other times, it fails to start. I've made several separate installs (clean ones) in order to make certain that I wasn't writing over anything, etc., but that hasn't made a difference. I start Orbiter, set the scenarios, etc., and then click on the "Orbiter" button, and then nothing happens. Once in a while, the program will run, however.Would anyone have any suggestions as to something I could do for this? Thanks,Buck

BigJim found this big, and basically if you get too close to the poles of Mars with the Level9 textures installed, Orbiter will crash.Recommendation: Stay away from the poles and Orbiter will not crash.Alternative: Load the Mars_tile.bin into the Tile manager that is included with the new build of Orbiter. Move your mouse over the polar tiles and delete the top and bottom rows and resave the tile-set, over write, or make a new one if you wish to save the old one.I'm sure Dr. Martins will make a patch to fix this, but this will solve the problem for now.If there is enough support on the Orbiter forum, I'll put a poll up to re-release this addon with the appropriate fix. We…

Tomorrow's the day.I'll be driving south to visit my parents and on the way, I'll be passing on the M25 motorway underneath the final approaches to runways 9L and 9R at Heathrow airport. She's scheduled to land at 4pm - so maybe, just maybe I'll see her in the air for the last ever time! I just hope it's an easterly wind. But here's a question that hasn't been raised in the forums. Shouldn't the last flight be made on December 17th to mark the 100th year of flight? It's only another couple of months away.

One of my favorite astronauts is Virgil I "Gus" Grissom. Was in the US Air Force (like me), one of the original Mercury 7, and flew Liberty Bell 7 in his historical sub orbital flight.Heres a tribute to this great astronaut, with the Air Force "Wild Blue Yonder" accompianing Gus to space.Liberty Bell 7 rides again!http://pevsa.moonport.org/grissom.ram

Hi all, just a question for frequent YBBN visitors :-) I recently did a realtime flight from Perth to Brisbane, arriving at some ungodly hour of the morning (5 ish, lol!) Qantas 738.Just wondering if anyone may be able to tell what runway we landed on. I have a video of the landing and departure, but all I can say is we came in over a river, and when we departed to YBHM we had to hold short, as there was incoming traffic from the left (also on video)Not much of a clue I guess as there could be a river at either end :-)I am going to upload the vids when I can get them down to a reasonable file size :-)Thanks for any help, as I am trying to recreate all 4 sectors of my flig…

If nothing else please at least let them know you are thinking of them. For anybody who has ever been in the NATO Air Forces you surly will know of the base at Goose Bay, Labrador, Canada. You will remember the exceptional people who lived there and the Inuit who depend on the base to stay alive. The government of Canada in their infenate wisdom is seeking to have the base shut down in the same way Daley removed Miegs. Through the back door in a midnight style raid. This airport is vital to people who do trans Atlantic flying. It is a life station to aircraft in distress. It played a role in helping commercial aircraft during 9/11. If the NATO countries continue to move o…

Hello,i'm having trouble keeping the eccentricity small enough to complete a steady orbit...is there any function built in the voyager to keep the Vvel and especially the Vacc very low, close to 0?i've been experimenting with getting into stable orbit...so far i've found out that it requires constant application of small thrust bursts to keep the Vvel and Vacc small enough to maintain altitude thus zero eccentricityThanks in advance(i'm not even thinking of flying the shuttle in space.. i'll take the red 'dart' till i'm comfy in space)Cheers

I saw reference to this when I downloaded a Saturn V For use in Orbiter. I guess you have to have it to use some addons. So, can someone please tell me what it is and where I can get it? Many newbie thanks!

We were watchin J.A.G. (Anyone know what it stands for?) and they said that in 1983, a C130 Herc sucessfully landed on an aircraft carrier. This was after the show ended and I think the show was about that incident. I think it is true. Anyone ever hear about it?JimCYWG

Hi all,I was bored tonight so I got myself a hot cup of Earl Grey and fired up Paint Shop Pro 8.. figured I'd do some sig pics, since it's been ages. Like the one below? Took me a while to get the letters looking just right, turns out it was "chroma-subsampling", whatever that is. I made the background using a custom gradient, black base, gold bars, a hint of blue.. very nice. The letters took a lot longer - if you look really closely, you'll see a very slight pattern, like they're made out of gold. You can't really see it with the compression unfortunately :-(
