After buying a Microsoft Force Feedback2 stick back in August I wasdisappointed in the poor performance. I contacted MS and even exchanged some e:mail with the FS9 team but got nowhere. Then I found out someone was writing a feedback program for all feedback sticks. I contacted Russ and he asked if I would like to beta test. I joined on to the beta team and from the very first beat it was obvious Russ had written a fantastic program. Very very few bugs.To get to my point here....even if you are fairly happy with your force feedback stick at least give FS Force a free trial! The first time you taxi or take off an aircraft and you feel the bumps on the taxiway or runways yo…

Years ago, back in June of '84, I was taking a flight on TWA to Europe from the West Coast.... I kept the in-flight entertainment going almost the whole time--it helped save my sanity on such a long haul....During that flight I heard a couple of songs that sounded quite nice... One was a pop vocal, and the other a pop instrumental... I've searched for years for both, even using ASCAP and BMI search engines.... No luck--looks like they were made especially for TWA...So my question--what happens to the in flight entertainment programs played on airliners? Is/was there a company responsible for producing them? Would such a company perhaps keep an archive or even offer t…

One of those who did not appear for the Christmas Eve flight apparently is a trained pilot'... Developing... Damn.

Two articles in the most recent (January) issue of FLYING magazine riveted my attention. In the article "a costly dinner" Peter Garrison analyzes one of the most talked about GA accident in recent history - a March 2001 crash of Gulfstream III on the approach to Aspen airport. All people aboard belonged to the rich-and-famous crowd and were heading for some expensive dinner/celebration. They all perished barely 1/2 mile from the edge of the runway. The aviation related facts of this accident are mind boggling. Highly recommended 3 pages of reading.Another article in the same issue describes Garmin 1000 cockpit - essentially a fully integrated glass cockpit by Garmin which …

Can't believe I haven't seen anything on this before. A little late in the holiday season, but still a good thing. Have you got a pile of frequent flyer miles, but no where to go??? Or not interested in buying any of the overpriced crap you could buy with the miles?? How about donating them to a good cause.... " Flyer points for troops Under U.S. military rules, soldiers serving in Afghanistan and Iraq are entitled to two weeks off and are flown free to Atlanta, Baltimore or Dallas, but then must pay their own way beyond that, a hardship for many.So Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger, D-Md., launched a Web site (heromiles.org) where Americans can donate airline frequent-flyer mile…

I talked today to some buddys of mine (mechanics at Cape Air) Who happened to be upstairs at my hanger at the C-AIR training offices reciving ATR training. They will be taking over Continental Micronesia routes at Guam. The a/c that will be at KHYA for training will be in Cape Air colors, (I will get photos!) Then they will be in CO livery on pacific routes. If they come into my market this summer (Colgan Air) I might have to roll my tool box across the ramp.:-( Thats all I know at this time, except that the a/c is in the paint shop, and is headed our way. Talk about full circle, I worked some of these aircraft in the early 90s when I was at BarHarbour- Continental Airli…

Hey all,If anybody's looking for an economical solution for internet access, the Earthlink with the accelerator is awesome! I'm swtiching from Comcast cable, so I do know what fast is. But it's more reliable, and teamed with Download Accelerator software, I am loving this! A great idea for anybody! Besides, it's only $21.95/month, down from $60.00 with Comcast. How awesome is that?Cheers,MarcMarc Gibson

I see many current posts about "censorship", pro and anti developer comments, support issues and general discussions about rights and responsibilities of developers.I cannot speak for other developers but I would like to set out my thoughts on these issues from our point of view:Having more or less completed an exercise in free distribution of an update to one of our aircraft, I've gained new insight into the attitudes of some of our customers and indeed users of our freeware offerings. The vast majority of our users and customers are civilised, patient and tolerant people who are not only happy to put up with the occasional, and very rare, delay or setback in our service …

Hello to all; I hope this is the right place to post this:I was asked by Don Moser to post this message in reference to Russ Campbell's illness. Russ got ill very suddenly and nobody knew what had happened to him,he is undergoing tests to determine what happened. At this time it appears that he may have had a major stroke according to the family. I have been a very close friend to Russ and his family for the last 5 years or so and this has come as a shock to me.He may never recover enough to be back online again, things are looking bad at this point. Russ is the owner of BBAS(Big Bear Air Service)virtual airlines for those of you who don't know. The family is keepin…

Hi.I'm reading an accident report on the SQ flight that had a tailstrike at NZAA earlier this year, and the reviewer makes the following comment:"The length of the delay (13mins) would have concerned the pilots somewhat because the time loss would not normally be able to be made up during the flight."My question is, why is it not "normally" possible to make up a 13min delay during a 9hour flight from Auckland to Singapore?Anyone have any reasonable answers to this? CheersAllblack
