Hey guys,I've recently been referred by the Florida Institute of Technology to the AOPA and they've gotten me a membership there.I was checking out the member benefits, and noticed they had a Cessna 177B Cardinal for download by Flight1 Software for FSX. This is all for the "Catch-A-Cardinal" sweepstakes the AOPA is running. I haven't gotten the chance to download it, and wanted to know if anyone has tried it out yet and if it would be worth downloading.

I am sure some of you have heard about the Sri Lankan Airlines wing tip incident:http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/article...sing/article.dohttp://www.walthamforestguardian.co.uk/epp...light_drama.php"Sri Lankan Airlines has said there was no danger in flying without a wing tip.The article quotes an airline spokesman as saying: "They are purely for aerodynamics and to keep fuel costs to a minimum. There is no impact on safety at all. Safety is our absolute priority."---Here's my question, wouldn't this damaged wingtip cause inefficiency? That was a long flight they were doing (London --> Colombo, Sri Lanka). Wouldn't they potentially use a lot more fuel?RhettAMD 3700+…

Well, it looks like I won't be soloing after all, not due to any lack of pilot skill, but simply because I am so disgusted at this point I can't even look at an aircraft.Today I wanted to call and get an idea of what insurance would run. Drumroll.....$6000 a year UNLESS I purchase a certified aircraft. Problem is, most Sport Pilot class certified aircraft are coming in around the $70,000-$100,000 price range, way out of my league. Basically, insurance would run more than fuel, maintenance, tie down, etc.... It's a laugh that some brand new driver can come along, buy an SUV, and cause a chain reaction crash that takes out a dozen cars and snuffs out the lives of people…

Somewhat disturbing to say the least. Not the survey, but NASA's decision not to publish. In aviation, sunshine is the best and only medicine.MHO,bthttp://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071022/ap_on_..._safety_secretsMOFFETT FIELD, Calif. - Anxious to avoid upsetting air travelers, NASA is withholding results from an unprecedented national survey of pilots that found safety problems like near collisions and runway interference occur far more frequently than the government previously recognized. ...Just last week, NASA ordered the contractor that conducted the survey to purge all related data from its computers.

Today's London Tiimes reports further delay of 6 months to the 787 programme. It says that the first flight will not now take place until May 2008 and that the first deliveries to All Nippon Airline will be delayed November/December 2008. Yhe report suggests that the certification period is very tight with no slack for any unforeseen events. The Times previously reported that the 787 shown at the roll-out was not assembled to full-flight standards because of time presure It now says "Rumours in the aerospace inmdustry suggest that Boeing may simply scrap the botched first plane and apply the lessons learnt to the second, hopefully completing assembly much faster,".

Surely worthy of a front page news item.XH558, Avroe Vulcan bomber had her test flight today at Bruntingthorpe, UK after 15 years of restoration.http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediaselector/check/p...1&bbwm=1&nbwm=1What a glorious slight and sound, I hope there is enough sponsership money to keep her flying for the projected 10 - 15 years, shame it isn't more.

Well, I can't think of anywhere else to post this since this would only be exciting to pilots/simmers...As some of you know from reading my posts about my flight training, I am getting divorced- my ex had an affair on me. She never wanted to go flying or anything, so that always bugged me. However, rather than do some crazy vindictive stuff- I took the high road... I let it be and moved on, and just became the bigger person. I started reconnecting with my friends and family, and taking time to help others. Well, I believe in karma now. After giving up my barstool to a couple- they hooked me up with their friend, which led to another chance encounter with another woman. Ba…
