So, is this like a violation using the words " Hanger Chat " in this story? Copyright or something. I fired up FS and fired up the jet. Doesn't matter which one. Not for this story. Left CYWG for CYTH.Well, here we go again. It was the same thing. Starting to get boared (spelling). Needed a change again. Done this before. Went from a jet to Dreamfleet C310. Moved to Alsaka. Fired it up and headed for the next town shown north of Fairbanka, Alaska on FSNav. Tried others but always come back to FSNav. Installed a C310 air file and SIM1.dll. This made a difference last time so may as well try it again. Throttles down and here we go. Made the trees, now what. M…

A new overlay depicts ALL aircraft, live, worldwide. Each icon contains Dep/arrival points, alt and speed. You can choose between, civilian, mil or rotors. I cross referanced it with Flightaware.com and they matched it perfectly. A must have.http://www.svens.dds.nl/kml/index.htmlCHOOSE "Realtime"Dave F.

If you're more into honing IFR skills in a GA aircraft that you also actually fly, do you plan practice flights from start-to-finish, or spend more time shooting approaches, holds, etc.? If you use an entire flight scenario, do you fly in your own "back-yard" most of the time (practice for those Saturday morning $200+ hamburgers), or try routes that you most likely will never try in real flight (other side of the country/world, etc.).For me, I like practicing a mock check-ride in different areas of my "back-yard" (northern Denver area). Thanks, Bruce.

The most recent news info I just saw seemed to say that one reverse thruster was not available because of a maintenance issue. That might account for why the plane swerved into an airport building. Or, the pilot did that deliberately to seek to avoid civilian casualties in the housing area off the end of the runway. However, if true about the rev-thruster, it was a criminal decision to land at that airport in heavy rain. This may be one of the most frightening stories I've ever heard. My wife works with Dr. Petit and says he is one of her favorite doctors. An utter, unthinkable tragedy. I know it's of no consequence at this point, but I hope both of those suspects burn to death in their cells.http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/07/24/home.invasion.ap/index.htmlMy wife said she almost wished he had died from his injuries, rather than wake up to find out what had happened.

The great unwashed and climate change protesters, have promised disruption at Heathrow and an attempted blocking of the new third runway construction.Time to cancel your flight departure from there and go from somewhere else?

Bored at work so I thought I'd brush up on my NAT/oceanic navigation knowledge.I brought up the KJFK departures (*flightaware.com) going to Europe and looked at their flight plans then compared them to the valid DINS NOTAMS and NAR's.Now I know the east coast gets pretty busy and they can re-route you on the fly, but I couldn't find one FP that coincided with the correct NAR and NAT.Anyone else wanna take a stab at it and see if maybe I'm forgetting something? I'm pretty sure the departure times were also in sink with the valid times.Nothin like a little mid day brain drain huh?

A while back (2004?), there was a discussion about how we all use FS 9, and one of the methods mentioned was to use an airline's schedule and fly the real-world flight (thus replicating the aircraft, time, date, flight number, etc).I've found a great web site that contains an archive of timetables of airlines around the world; it covers 317 airlines and contains 2248 different timetables, according to the author. The archive comprises mostly PDFs, although some of the schedules are in HTML format.Although the archive doesn't cover every airline, it's pretty extensive. I've found it to be very useful.Cheers!Joel

I just got the new Flight Vidoe Productions Columbia 400 video, and upon learning it was a piston engine aircraft, was surprised to see it is certified to I think, 25000 ft. I am only a sim pilot, and thought piston engines were only good in the lower altitudes, with higher altitudes requiring turbine engines. Could somebody please clarify? Thanks. Tom

Well, this is a much needed update- with everything going on in my personal life, I haven't had much time to post since these updates take awhile, but it doesn't mean I haven't been flying.Last Wednesday, I booked an 8:00 flight for me and the instructor to Stewart/Newburgh Intl. which is southwest of Poughkeepsie, NY. It was a bit hazy and VERY warm- still in the high 80's on the ground when we took off. I stuck to my headings, and got flight following on the way there. Since it's just over 50 miles it would be hard to get lost, but the controller had a light load and was giving us vectors- nicest NY controller I've seen yet. The only concern was the engine running r…

This made waves at Sun 'n Fun and was featured in Sport Pilot magazine. Who is going to make a sound set for this? Just kidding, but interesting. The bad news is the builder is asking $17-21K for the whole package--that's a bit up there for something limited to part 103.Here's a link:http://www.electraflyer.com/index.html

On a "National Geographic" TV show entitled "Crash Investigation" a crash was depicted in which the pilots had mistakenly closed down the wrong engine.Passengers could see flames that were impossible for the pilots to see.Can aircraft be designed to incoporate cameras that would supplement the cockpit instruments and allow the pilots to visually scan their engines?Cliff
