Hi all, a question for people who really know how to fly heavies...I understand that after calculating V speeds for take-off, pilots aim to fly the aircraft a V2+10 or V2+15 immediately after take-off until reaching acceleration altitude. I mainly use the LDS767, Wilco A320 (new version) and PMDG737 and I regard myself as an experienced user with these aircraft. I am also half way through my PPL at the moment.I find it difficult to maintain V2+15. I rotate the aircraft to the desired pitch when Vr is called, usually 15 degrees, or sometimes use the FD as the guide to the initial pitch. I find, by the time I get a positive rate I'm usually well over V2+15 and have to pitch…

I checked that this wasn't a repost and didn't see anything.. But I found this absolutely fascinating and bought the book which I am looking forward to reading.. But the talk here is very interesting.. and it is quite recent it seems. The talk discusses both companies, their mistakes and some of the financial arguements that are going on between them.. Also talks a little about the A380, A350 and the dreamliner.. http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=...earch&plindex=1Seems that Boeing are on top!CheersCraig

As you might have guessed, I've been sitting here at work bored for 2 days, remembering back to that video I bought a while back about the Pilatus PC-12 (KBOI-KSUN). Been thinking, you know, for me that's just about the perfect aircraft to have...LOL. It looks like it might feel good on the flight deck for us 5'7" guys. Nice avionics, plenty - o - eye candy, etc., and fairly easy to fly (so it seems anyways). So I set out searching the net for all the PC-12's I can find and their different variants and options...The I saw : www.uasc.com/products/index.asp?contentid=prod_flatpanel&rightmenuid=113 WOW! right? man they have some really cool stuff. How about that supe…

When I started training for my pilot license last year I thought starting in my mid-40's made me rather old for a student. I soon learned that wasn't the case--met many students older than I was. Gave me a "surge of youth" knowing I could learn new skills so easily. But sometimes things can throw that surge of youth asunder. I was with my daughter yesterday (FATHER'S DAY, MIND YOU) checking out at the market. I was kidding and teasing her the way we usually do. After a moment, the cashier said "Is she your granddaughter?"Urgggghhhhhhhh. Just when I was feeling good about myself. Maybe if I dye my hair, get rid of all the gray I will look like a daddy again?:)-John

Now that grid.org stopped its activities ("Help us fight cancer! Join the AVSIM Cancer Team!" [Link on the AVSIM frontpage] ), are there any intentions or is it possible at all that we combine efforts again in this respect ? (I lost the link to an alternative organization that seemed to continue the work).Siggy

To cut a long story short, I'm 19, been in love with aviation since i can remember, obviously have played MSFS for as long as i can remember, and have 20 hours clocked for my PPL. I fly a PA28 with Cabair for my PPL, and have never had any problems with any sort of fear of flying. However, I recently had the opportunity to fly out to the Philippines and I did, we flew with Qatar Airlines A330's for the whole journey. During every flight I was gripping onto my seat and sweating quite a lot during take-off, landing and during turbulence. I suddenly had a very slight fear of flying. I don't know if it's because I know a lot more about what can go wrong, or whether if it was m…

i dont know how many have experienced this but i have observed that in fs2004 if i attempt to land a fully loaded fully fuelled 747 or a 777 the autopilot takes me on a very unstable decent with wild nose pitch up and downs worsening as i get closer to the runway, ending up in a crash on it. this does not happen in the case of 737 which maintains a constant pitch and decent rate. is there any physics behind this or is it a flaw in fs2004?does this happen in the real world too?

Hi!If you crash into another Boeing 737 or 727 in the air, can you hear the screams of the people frightened? And can you see the fragments of everything in the plane fly everywhere? Can you see the pilot from the crushed cockpit (LOL?) Then, can you see the plane plummeting down, and the loud, shocking sound of everything being ripped apart when it hits the ground? Funny!ATTENTION!! MESSAGE TO THE MODERATORS!IF YOU FIND THIS IS IN THE WRONG FORUM, PLEASE MOVE IT TO THE FUNNY OR OFF-TOPIC CHAT!! Thank you.

hi all!i read on the net about the working of an ils, but nowhere could i find in detail the explaination of what makes CAT I, CAT II, CAT IIIA, CAT IIIB and CAT IIIC different other than the operatable runway visibility. can someone please explain what exactly is the advancement in each of these. does the cat iiic make the plane have a nice flare too, and apply reversers automatically without involvement of pilot? will be a really cool thing if it does so

Anyone else see the latest version of Google Earth? Starting to look like Flight sim to me :-cool http://earth.google.com/ You can even create your own 3D buildings using their software called SketchUp. If only Google would purchase Flight Sim from Microsoft...or incorporate Live Earth into Flight Sim. Just something cool I thought I would share if you hadn't seen it yet.Eric

Hello everyone :)Please could you all give me some advice on improving the quality of my sig pic?The rules as we all know are:1.) Only one (1) image is allowed2.) That image shall not be larger than 400 x 60 pixels in size3.) The image file shall not be larger than 10 Kbytes in size4.) The image can be animated, but shall not exceed the 10 Kbytes sizeTo satisfy this rule I did a *lot* of cropping and then using IrfanView I saved it to a small .jpg. But the result is that horrible compression artifacts are showing as you can see.Im asking because I see that other peoples sigs on here satisfy all the rules - but do not show any compression issues. How do you do it!? :) Could…

Does anyone else read this UK-published mag? I've been a reader now for about 2 years. If you look through the March/April 2007 issue, you'll see they review 10 products, and EIGHT (yes, 8!) were given a "PC Pilot Classic Product" award! Among the recipients were the Just Flight Airbus F-Lite (aka the CLS A340-500/600) and Just Flight's Flying Club X.Hmmmm.... how can they give such a high score to an Airbus sim that doesn't feature and FMGC, no FBW, and no systems modelling? What about a set of GA aircraft with panels that feature default gauges? In fact, if you look through the back issues, you'll see any product published by Just Flight gets a very favourable review...…

A safe ending, but I can just imagine the passenger chaos at Dulles right now. UA 897 is the non-stop Dulles to Beijing.May 25, 2007 - 2:32pmWASHINGTON - A passenger jet on its way to Beijing returned to Dulles Airport after reports of flames coming out of an engine at takeoff. United Airlines flight 897 had an engine flame-out, soon after it took off at 12:55 p.m. The 747 has four engines, and can fly safely with three, but the decision was made to bring the plane back, rather than send it across the ocean. The plane dumped fuel before it landed safely. United says flight 897 had 330 passengers and 19 crew onboard. The airline's working with passengers at Dulles to help …

Just got this via email... Think it's worth participating in, or for the most part, even true?Don't pump gas on May 15th.in April 1997, there was a "gas out" conductednationwide in protest of gas prices. Gasoline prices dropped30 cents a gallon overnight. On May 15th 2007, all internet users are to not go to a gas station in protest of high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00a gallon in most places. There are 73,000,000+ American members currently on theinternet network, and the average car takes about 30 to 50dollars to fill up.If all users did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take$2,292,000,000.00 (that's almost 3 BILLION) out of the oil company's pockets for just o…
