Hello all :)With everything on my computer highly optimized/customized (not to mention FS9) I dread to think of the painful reinstallation of all my programs should something silly happen...like a hard-drive failure.I have only just come around to the idea of software that can take an "image" of the entire drive and save it to an external drive or DVDs.Im unsure which program to go for and thought I would ask you all on here since I like hearing from real users. Googling brings up Acronis True Image, Norton Ghost & Paragon most of the time - these any good? But what disk-imaging program do you use? Is it well-designed (reliable) & was it easy to restore files from …

I have just aquired the complete nose section (cargo hatch forward) of a Fedex B727 and we are going to convert it into a Static Simulator. What I need to know is which FS2004 727 model would be the best for the job? I've got the CS 727 and like it very much, is there another model out there that would be better?Martin McleanCWH Museum

I've got the BFG GF8800 GTX OC 764 video card, I was having problems with the view pane when I try to select aircraft in FS2004. It would always show as a black box. This went on for quite a while untill I disconected my second monitor. Then the view came back! So If anyone else is having the "Black Box" problem, and you are using more than one monitor, try it out! It doesn't solve the problem, when I reconnected the monitor, the box was back! Here's a different topic that someone might educate me on. I flew Korea Air Lines round trip from Seoul to Ulsan and back last week. On my way down it was economy and on return, business class. A/C were brand new 737-800's. Beautiful aircraft and easy to ride within (except KAL really does cram economy class. :)Anway, I was given seat number 37A on the way down (or there abouts), and I thought, oh man, back of the bus. Nope. The number system on the KAL flight in economy started with something like row 48 at the front of the aircraft behind business and working its way toward the lower numbers as you went further back in the aircraft. Just the opposite from any other airl…

I've never really posted much here but I lurk around an awful lot and enjoy reading all the interesting opinons. But today I'm to excited not to tell someone who can appreciate my news.I just recieved a call today after an interview with FlightSafety International They offered me a job as a Design Engineer I at their simulation headquarters in Broken Arrow, OK. I would be working with the aircraft systems group writing software to simulate all the different systems on any given aircraft they might be developing a full motion FAA certified sim for. I got to climb in on of the sims in development. Unfortunately none of them were in the final stages so it was not very functi…

Today's Times reports that an anonymous Middle Eastern head of state has ordered an A380 as his private transport. The report say that it will be equipped with a front office, a dining room, double bedroom, single bedroom, master lounge and a hoit-tub. It also reports that the hot tub will have a rapid drainage system to a tank in the cargo hold to meet FAA regulations - apparently the interior is being designed by a New York-based designer. The cost is said to be

A question regarding ATC using holds and recommended fuel reserves. For instance say i had 30 minutes reserve fuel on arrival at my destination and then was put into a hold, would this be classed as an unseen delay, or should a flight have enough fuel on top of the 30 minutes in order to compensate for the hold up or would the fuel on board include extra for holds etc?I am thinking of the fact Avianca flight 52 was put into a holding pattern for over an hour at JFK (1990) before fallng from the sky on approach. I recognise the pilot should have alerted ATC of his plight but an hour seems an awfully long time.

HeyAfter notchng up about 70 hours in the pmdg 737 I realised that I had probably become to relient on the autopilot. So i organised a fun filled day of circuits around Gatwick: Takoff runway 8R, climb to 5000ft and level of and mantain a speed of 240kias then perform a left hand pattern intercept ILS, land, turn around and do it again. It all sounded easy but on my forst attempt i had trouble keeping altitude to withing +/- 100ft of target, my speed was everywhere but on a positve note i managed to keep my heading steady :-hah I gradualy improved by the 4th circuit could:Keep airspeed withing 10kts of targetKeep atitude +/- 70ft of targetmake a flawless takeoff!Landings …

Hi,Usually I am not terribly vocal in general forums out here on the Internet, but I would like to make a post about Vista. What is happening here at Flight1 (and I am sure it is occuring with other companies also), is that we are getting daily support request for the inability for users to get someting to work on Vista, even though the software is Vista compatible. We have created a fairly detailed Vista page at http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=vista. It attemts to guide users who have Vista in a direction where they can install most software. If I can spread the word a bit, and the message, that "Please be aware of the fact that when you get Vista a new understanding o…

EU transport ministers unanimously supported an open-skies deal with the US for trans-atlantic flights. This should increase competition on these flights. At present, BA, Virgin, American Airlines and United Airlines dominate transatlantic flights from Heathrow.
