So I see that it will be in the 90's in Phoenix tomorrow, and a high of 94 by Friday. Being from Las Vegas ours is much the same, but for some reason I feel that March is much to early for these high temps. I seem to remember the end of April and the beginning of May as when we'd get into the 90's and in some cases even the 100's. Anyone else from these areas feel the same way? Also, here in Oklahoma (not my home town) they had a snow storm in November. While I feel that global warming may jsut be a bunch of poop, I have noticed that it seems as though Winter starts earlier every year and Spring begins a bit early.Jeff

Have you guys checked out that site? What did you think? Did you join? I think it's a good idea- I've always wondered who is around me. I didn't join yet- I want to see how it works out.

I've flown in a number of aircraft that have ground adjustable props. Often the owner will adjust the prop for cruise vs. climb and this has two effects--faster cruise but also notably lower top end rpm during flight. My question--most engines have a redline rpm (let's say 5800 for the Rotax). But if the rpm isn't exceeding the rpm for max continuous power due to the prop adjustment, can the engine be run full throttle for an extended period? Seems to me the engine is working just as hard, simply at a lower rpm.Anyone who can help (or understand what I am asking), I would really appreciate it.Regards,John

I must first say that, before you start taking lessons in real life- you have skewed goals. When I first took lessons back in '99, I remember telling my ground school instructor that I just wanted to finish my PPL and get on with instruments. I thought VFR would be boring, and IFR is where all the fun is at. He didn't necessarily scoff at me, but he did recommend I spend some time enjoying myself as a new pilot before I do that. I thought it would be, for lack of a better phrase, "wham bam thank you maam'" and on to the IFR rating. It seemed each lesson would simply be something I would cross off on a private pilot checklist and be done with it. I still hear people…

I have to say I'm very impressed by AVSIM's introduction (re-introduction?) of the international forums and the speed with which they were set up.

Okay, this maybe a little bit off topic but I am wondering if there is any list or something similar of aircrafts (except for the Janet 737) which have ever been spotted at the famous Groom Lake/Area 51.I know that aircraft like the U-2, F-177-, SR-71 have been tested there but have there ever been spotted transport aircraft like C-141, C-5, C-17 ?Just wanna know because I wanna add some more traffic to this place.

British Mediterranean Airways operates a flight between Cardiff and London Heathrow airports and return six days a week. The flights carry no passengers and are operated simply to retain the airline's landing rights (slot) at Heathrow. Apparently, a couple of years ago Quantas paid

The proposed 747-8 is going to a magnificent aircraft. It's going to be a gigantic type of Dreamliner with beautiful new interior, lights, seats, etc. I see LUFTHANSA ordered a large number with options but I am dismayed that nobody else has done so for the pax version. Why is this? Why has Boeing had such limited success with an aircraft that is the best jumbo jet the world has ever seen and that is enormously popular with so many ?Perhaps when the A380 program crashes and burns more fully (not that it is really cause for celebration--I actually almost feel sorry for the company and especially its beleagured workers), folks will return to the venerable 747 and give i…

Hi guys,Well tomorrow looks like it will finally be the day I get to do my first cross-country solo- The weather is supposed to be sunny with little wind. My flight will take me from New Haven to Poughkeepsie and back. I am busy reading up on ATC and other stuff today to see if there are any last minute questions I might have. Can some of you guys check this thread later tonight and answer any questions I come up with? I only have a few now, but there will definately be more. I would ask my instructor tomorrow, but I'm actually doing the pre-solo check with another instructor, whom I don't know very well.My instructor said filing a VFR flight plan is optional, but I …

Watch>the nationalism kick in here...this is going to be a very>interesting test of European unity...German and French unions>in an all-out catfight for the scraps.I think Airbus has been doing bad moves lately, and I don't like at all the A380 and its concept. Market problems are the obvious aftermath. That said, I find really sad this sort of pro-american/anti-european stance. Competition is always a good thing, and while I can "support" one company or the other, I really woul…

Gawd.... I hate talking ads, like to smack the person who came up with the idea. Almost as annoying as TV commercials where the volume is intentionally elevated, for your enjoyment of course.

Hi,I found this to be rather interesting.http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/6418891.stmOnly the new 777's are allowed. I flew PIA a few times into Karachi, but a long time ago.. on 747 200's.It's funny.. i remember a long time ago ( late 1980's ) a cheap way from London to the Sub-Continent was with Ariana Afghan, but they were banned from Eurpean airspace... closest they could get to was Prague - people used to come up to my desk at Heathrow and ask for Ariana.. and I used to tell them that they weren't safe enough to enter western European airspace so they had better go to Prague and ask there!! I was young and reckless then! Anyone ever used the "far queue, sir" trick?I…

Microsoft's Ballmer Blames Pirates For Slow Sales Of VistaAaron McKennaFebruary 19, 2007 11:50Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer (note how I don't make a single chair throwing, soft-spoken joke) blames software pirates in developing markets such as China, India, Brazil and Russia for the poor sales of Windows Vista. He says that Microsoft plans on tightening the screws on Windows Genuine Advantage, Microsoft's DRM solution from ####; thus ensuring that it will be Joe Consumer who suffers for the poor sales of Vista which obviously have nothing to do with the fact that Vista is bug ridden and not the Second Coming we had been potentially promised.----------------------------------…

Hello everyone...I have a few real world questions I am interested in.CAT IIIc allows for zero visability landings.... no DH, 0/0. Does anyone know if there are any airports certified yet? Also are any airlines/aircraft certifed as well? Are airports/airlines moving towards this capability?About certifications. I know the majority of the people here are from the USA. Obviously the certifying authority is the FAA. They govern US carriers and US airports/airspace. I know the CAA are the UK body. I assume all counties have a governing body. The rules are going to vary. If I am flying from Chile to Australia with a Chilean carrier... then the rules governing everything to do …
