hey everyone,I tried registering to feelthere's website for some support, but I can't get the activation email from 2 email addies that I used... so I cant ask my question there, and since there is no feeltehre subforum here, I figured this is the best place to post... well here is my question...1st... my overhead panel picture is distorted, it seems like some image is being strechted to fit instead of the overhead pic that is supposed to be used, i've reinstalled several times (after uninstalling) and not using any liveries, but still nogo...2nd :)When i'm level at my CRZ alt. the speed option on AP will not work... i set it to .71 mach and it just keeps climbing, i set …

Well, I have kind of been in flight training limbo for a little while now:As you all know, the official FAA standards require that I do a certain number/type of things before I can take a checkride. On the simple end, I need 40 hours. I forget the exact numbers, but I need a certain number dual, solo, x-country, etc. I think I need 3 instrument, 4 night, etc....After I soloed, I needed to work on my solo time- so I have been doing a lot of flying around, pattern work, hopping to the few local airports I am signed off for. I have gotten much, much better at the workload- which is definately the hardest part. By workload I mean: maintaining situational awareness such…

There is general consensus that FSX needs some repairs. Setting aside the past history of why they exist, it seems time for Microsoft to make a policy statement on the repairs that will be made and any new functions to be added. As of today there is no list of items that are addressed and no target date for release. Reading the dribbles of info from the employees at Microsoft, one would think that by now things would be nailed down. Seems like an "open-ended" schedule. Some live in fear of not fully respecting the people who create these products. If this was freeware I would accord them saint-hood. However, they are paid handsomely, and Microsoft makes big money on this "…

Hi all:I notice that some uploaders claim no editing. Those who are editing what exactly are you editing in the pics and what program do you use? I would also like to know what kind of screenshots are the favourite. I enjoy mostly all of them but the ones showing AI traffic and airport scenery are the best. I have had some interesting scenarios that I think would have made a good screenshot but I don't know what people like to see.Regards Rick I also notice some people are posting in the sceenshot forums without a screenshot...which is against the rules, please read them before your next post I'll get this one moved to the proper forum for you

This plane was getting ready to depart as I was waiting to have my plane pulled out of the hangar the other day. The pilot was hanging out inside and I asked if it was a corporate plane. He said it was- a fractional share. He then said the name, but I didn't really hear him.It was really, really nice looking. Very different. The cockpit was about eye level which is strange for a plane this size- it was squat.I actually put my camera in movie mode and recorded the turbine start up- I think those are too big to post however.I love all airplanes, but after seeing something like this, the warrior doesn't feel so cool :)http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/167572.jpg

I was reading the local paper today and there was a great article in the Real Estate section about Rosamond Skypark, "a tidy little subdivision on the edge of the Mojave Desert where single-family homes are adjacent to hangers, and airplane noise isn't considered a nuisance". It seems this California Skypark offers a great way to live for the many Corporate chiefs and professionals and "empty nesters" who like to commute by air to L.A. The article talks about John Travolta, who lives with his Gulfstream II and Boeing 707 at an exclusive airpark in Florida that includes a country club and inn and the nation's longest private residential runway at 7550 feet.I would love to …

I'm 41 and I've been designing roof trusses for the past 10 yrs of my life and I really don't like it that much, its ok, but its not something i really look forward to doing. It would be nice to wake up some day and actually look forward to go to work. I love aviation but don't know what type of work I could get into and make fairly descent money...I know that the following are OUT:pilot, dispatcher, ATC controller, baggage, etc what appeals to me is scheduling type of thing. I would love to work for a charter company scheduling clients etc, what other type of work is there? I'm good with a computer.thanksciao!Brian S

Recently, I have been strongly considered becoming an ATP. Im in high school right now and Im definately going to college after, so I'm still a good 7 years away at least. When I get to college, I was thinking that a mechanical/engineering degree would be great for a resume and useful in the business, but I'm concerned that if I were to ever want to move up to the corporate level or another industry my options would be limited? Should I study business instead? Or would my experience as a pilot be enough to help me get up into the corporate level? Also, I know seniority plays a big role in scheduling, but would the airlines allow me to take certain days off for religous…

Hi,I just got my new AOPA AFD, and I can't figure out what one symbol means on the airport diagram-What does it indicate if there are 'dashes' down the runway centerline? The vast majority of airports show the runways as solid black, but some of them have dases (more like dots actually) down the runway centerline.Bradley Intl has them, and so does Madison.Does anyone know?

When Ford released its latest Mondeo with new features I asked my local dealer if, as an existing Mondeo owner, I could have a free upgrade. To my surprise he refused saying, that the new features were available to new purchasers only! Don't you agree with me that is a disgraceful way to treat loyal customers and that Ford just doesn't care less about its existing customers.

For those of you who enjoy a good airplane magazine ( don't we all ), MAAM's star B-25 made the cover of "Air Classics" March 2007 issue, volume 43 number 3.On a side note, there are 18 B-25s flying in from all over the country to appear at the Yankee Air Museum's "Thunder Over Michigan" airshow. West coast B-25s may even have seats to and from the show!

After playing one of the FSX missions, it got me thinking, what would really happen if you were in a light aircraft with an engine failure in the vicinity of an aircraft carrier? As far as I know this has never happened in real life, but its possible.Would you ditch or try to land on the carrier, and what ... if any real life procedures are in place for such an unlikely event? This is assuming you had declared an emergency before attempting the carrier landing.

OK, don't laugh at this question. I should know this by now.I've noticed on sectional charts some numbers--a large number always followed by a smaller one. I've looked at online resources on sectionals and looked at the sectional legends, but still I am uncertain what these numbers mean. I have attached an example with the numbers circled in red:-John

Take this MHTG (Toncontin) chart for reference:http://www.costaricaaviation.com/charts/mh...RDME_RWY_01.PDFI have a question about this specific approach, but first, let me ask this:I have seen the definition of a circling approach as any approach with a circle put into the pattern.Yet elsewhere I have seen it defined as any approach where you set up for one runway, and then once you are down to decision height and have a visual of the field, you are to circle and land, maintaining visual with the field the whole time, on a different runway.Which definition is correct?RhettAMD 3700+ (@2310 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XM…

  25. Here's a link to an accident that happened in New England on Friday night. The attorney, Peter Karoly, and his wife, Lauren, along with a young pilot were killed trying to land in bad weather in New Bedford, MA. He was a friend, a client of mine, and we talked about flying a great deal. We live in the Allentown, Pa area. Peter had 3 airplanes and several businesses. He enjoyed flying his own plane to his other businesses. I'll miss him a great deal.Seems runway lights, covered by vegetation, were not lit, and it was going to be taken care of, but as of Friday, it wasn't.Here's the link from a Boston newspaper.http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles/...al_plane_crash/
