Hi,After having watched several DVDs from World Air Routes, it has come to my attention that the cockpit procedures vary very much from airline to airline. Some airlines have a frequent procedure communication between the captain and co-pilot, while on some airlines the communication is more or less zero. One clear example is the Cebu Pacific DVD. Those DC9 pilots hardly reads the checklists,...and procedure communication beween pilots is second to none. In other words,...the cockpit atmnosphere is almost completely quiet.My question is,..isn

If you have TIVO.. Look for the program "Air Emergency" on National Geographic TV and record it.Its amazing. I just saw an accident where the aircraft cleaning person had put a sticky on the air Static port of the 757 and forgot to remove it. This is something even a Cessna 172 Pilot is taught to check during pre flight.And this caused the 757 to go berserk and since they were flying at dark night over the ocean they had no visual reference and they crashed. They had no reference to air speed and no reference to altitude. They had the over speed warning and the stall warning stick shaker go on at the same time. They didn't know if they were climbing or descending.I can't…

Hi,just heard the news on TV! the A380 (don't know which company) will be landing at CYUL on Nov 12 runway 24R.The very same day, I land in the morning at CYUL on my trip back from Avsim FanCon! I wanted to get back home, but I may stay at the airport all day after all LOLCan't wait to see it landing!!

All,I was driving the access road between Ft Dix and McGuire AFB yesterday and a C-17 rumbled over my car on final for Rwy 24.It had a tail stripe I had never seen before. I've seen the Blue MGuire and the multi-colored stripes from other bases.This one was black and white. I could not read the writing but I swear the graphic on it looked like the driving school logo from the movie "Coneheads."Is anyone familiar with a tail stripe similar to my description?Regards,Jim DonlinNew JerseyPS: just recalling alot of TFR's this week for President traveling.

I have NO IDEA where to post this comment. I do NOT like this "NEW" Format compared to the "OLD" Format..I see absolutely NO Reason for the change but I'm sure the "Staff" at AVSIM will offer some "rationalization" why something that worked WELL for years needed to be changed. .......I'm at a loss for further words. I don't want to "OFFEND" the person who... thought there was a need for a NEW Format, as I am sure they put in a lot of time doing it."If it ain't broke..don't fix it". Looking to see if a Japan airlines flight from Chicago to Tokyo goes over Manitoba, Canada? Wife is going on a flight from there and I might see her flight fly over Manitoba. It says it's a direct flight. I do see some flights here comming from the south east and going to the north west but don't know anything about them. They would be flying on a 747.JimCYWG

Hi all.Have a question regarding the term "option" for purchasing aircraft.For example...."the airline has firm orders for ten Q400s, plus options on ten more...."Do these "options" give an airline preferential treatment for future purchases? What obligations does the airline have if it enters an "option"?I'm really not sure what "option" means....I mean any airline has an option to buy more aircraft...so how is this term unique?Thanks all.AB

It was a beautiful day for flying, hazy but nice and smooth, I was about to fly on a progress check and we ran up the airplane fine, but I noticed the engine was idling a little rough, so I ran it up again, and waddaya know, the engine ran very rough on the left mag, so we let it run somewhat lean for 1 minute, ran it up and the same thing, then we let it run for 2 minutes and we were able to run it up after that with no problem. I told the instructor I would feel better if we took another airplane that day, do you think I made the right decision, or do you think that we most likely unfouled the plugs and the airplane was ok after the last runup being successful? Anyway…

Could some kind soul tell me what I'm doing wrong all the sudden...LOL.For some reason, I either forgot or have an actual problem when trying to playback after recording. My AI traffic doesn't show up.I believe I still have all the correct options checked, but maybe someone can double check me on the process.Thanks.
