I had an old van for years, heavily modified, but reliable. I had the engine balanced and blueprinted, a towing kit installed, popup top for camping, stove refridge, air conditioning, towbar, surround sound and sat TV... it was awesome. It took me a few years and tears to get it the way I wanted, but it was worth all the time, money, and at times, aggravation. I flew, errr rode, that thing everywhere. Then I saw a new model and decided it was time to upgrade, since its performance was better, and its packaging much better! I drove the RTM model home and the problems started. It hesitated, choked, got about 1/2 the advertized milage, had problems with the engine, transmissi…

I have a question. A few years ago I bought a bunch of old airplane manuals (DC-6, DC-8, L-1049 and the like) on CD from a US company called eflightmanuals ( www.eflightmanuals ). They have send them to Germany and the pdfs were protected and had to be activated via EMail. Now I have changed my PC and wanted to activate them again. The answer I received from eflightmanuals was : "Sorry, we don't support our former activation system anymore, your CDs can't be activated again. You need to buy them again"And when complaining about it, they told me, it is normal, software has a limited lifetime.I am puzzled to put it mildly. I buy a bunch of CDs and have to throw them in the g…

When they pull up to the gate the fan blades come to a stop, but how does the engine keep running? I always thought the compressor blades were linked right to the shaft, so I don't see how they can stop while the engine remains active...Thanks

Is 650mph an unusual ground speed for this kind of aircraft? I had a flight to Syracuse NY which was a bit behind, and the pilot said he hasn't had a ground speed that fast since the Reagan Administration. lol

To my big surprise, today I saw some of my repaints and other works for download on another competing site. How could this happen? I have only uploaded my work to AVSIM, and will allways do so now and in all future.

Just wondering...does anyone know why the Warrior has two altimeters? I've never flown the real one, but I would imagine the JF FlyingClub X Warrior I have in FS 2004 has the same instruments as the real aircraft..My quess is that one of them is set at zero-elevation for training purposes when practising landings. In the '50s when I learned to fly in a two-place, side-by-side Taylorcraft the altimeter was set at zero. This was in Nedrow (Syracuse) NY where the field elavation was around 420-ft.--Roger

Again, this is completely last minute and it's a weekday still- but I was supposed to give two of my friends a ride out to Long Island today and pick them up Sunday, but Sunday is not looking good for flying- so we are going to bag it. However, I still have a plane so I'd like to fly somewhere- it's beautiful out today- maybe out to B.I. for lunch or something... if by any chance anybody is available today two zero three six seven five two five four five....

Geof:A friend of mine lost his life in a plane crash that he was piloting about 2 years ago, along with two others. He was instrument rated and had 700 hours of flying time.He filed a flight plan in SD for an instrument flight to Anderson, Indiana, after a hunting trip, in a small Beech Bonanza without weather radar. About seven minutes before the crash, and over Missouri, he contacted a controller and reported his altitude. Unbeknownst to him a weather front was right in front of him and three weather advisories were in effect at the time. One advisory was for very severe tubulence including possible tornadoes. He died trying to pull out of a spin coming out of the bott…

I want to simulate an air taxi/charter FAR 135 ops and I want to work the San Juan island airports and Victoria and Vancouver CA areas (using of course the Victoria+ and Vancouver+ scenery for FSX) my question is I like to do this as real as possiblemy question is if I fly out of CYYJ and then fly into say KFHR or KORS, or any other little island there in the USA - do I have to fly into a major airport first? like KSEA? or how does this work? It was my understanding that you have to fly into an AoE first then to your destination.thanksciao!Brian S

This is last minute, but my brother and I are going to fly out of New Haven at noon, and go somewhere for lunch- probably Newport or Block Island. I'm trying to build cross-country hours toward my instrument rating which I plan on doing next summer. If anybody local wants to hop in we'd love the company. Only catch is we're big guys- both about 195, so we'll probably be flying at the tabs which means you can't be 400 lbs- sorry, not a personal thing- but I am a stickler for those MGTWs... It will be cold, so performance should be good, but I'm not taking any chances if the W&B is out of whack...Call my cell at two zero tree, six seven five, two five four five if you m…

Hi,Have you ever wondered whether your sanity is being compromised by your addiction to flight simulation?Wonder no more, for here is the definitive test to put your mind at ease....or not, as the case may be ;)"THE BATHTUB TEST" It doesn't hurt to take a hard look at yourself from time to time, and this should help get you started. During a visit to the mental asylum, a visitor asked the Director what the criterion was which defined whether or not a patient should be institutionalized. "Well," said the Director, "we fill up a bathtub, then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket to the patient and ask him or her to empty the bathtub." "Oh, I understand,"…

Can anybody shed some light on this story for me?One day in 1945 cries of distress were heard over the radio above the Chine Sea. "My engine is hit, I'm losing collant - what'll I do?" Savvy P-38 pilots in the air at the time tried to advise the obviously green fellow in distress. "Calm down and feather it." Then came the dejected reply, "Feather, ####. I'm flying a P-51!"

In fsx I tried to see if I could use reversers instead of a pushback, the aircraft didnt move back an inch. Does this happen in the real life aswell? If reveresrs can stop a rolling aircraft, why arent they able to move a static airplane in reverse?I have heard that it is quite dangerous too to apply reversers if the plane is static, can anyone tell why?
