I don't post in the forums as much as I used to, I do a lot of looking and finding answers. It seems as of around the release of FSX (time frame) people have really been quick to be nasty in here. Is it because of a younger age group or what, but it's really disappointing. I just read a thread where a developer wrote a comment about HIS product to the OP of the thread and he got attacked by an individual who had nothing more to say then just to post a mean comment. I guess I can't blame developers for not posting, helping or anything for that matter when they are attacked like this. And then people wounder why PSS and some other companies have closed shop. I started simm…

So I've had my PPL for a couple months now, and have been flying quite regularly- with my credit card on fire after flight training, it's been less than I would like, but enough to stay sharp- maybe on average a couple hours every week and a half.So Sunday I decided to take this girl I've been dating up to Newport for dinner. It's only about a 40 minute flight, so about an hour on the Hobbs from startup to shutdown. I checked the weather, got a briefing, and consulted some of the instructors who had been flying that day. They all said it would be a good day to go. When we got in, she had never been in a small plane so was a little nervous and asking questions. She pointed…

I was doing some "Digg"ing this evening and came across a post relating to the old "Computer Chronicles" TV show. Browsing through the classic selections, I noticed THIS episode...http://www.archive.org/details/flightsimulaIf you have some time to spare (1/2 hour), take a look - it's worth it! I know many of us have lived through this history with the simulators of the early 1990s, but it's always fun to watch things like this...(Crossposted to my two daily reader flightsim forums...)

HiApparently during the cold war, the English Electric Lightings used to sit ready to go in a corrugated shelter near the runway. I've been asked to model one up but don't know what they are called so can't start searching for info.I was wondering if anyone knew of the official name or better still had some pics.

I am going to be in Sydney and Canberra later this month and wonder if any simmer's would like to get together? There is a very small chance that I may make it to Melbourne, but that is unlikely. I arrive in Sydney on the 26th of January and leave for Canberra on the following Saturday, the 2nd of February. I will have a pretty full schedule, but may be able to get an evening free here or there. Are there any sim enthusiasts who might be interested in getting togetther if my schedule allows?

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/20...s-plane-st.htmlI love the quote "The plane, because it was taxiing and heading to park, was not under the control of air traffic controllers at that point."I didn't really know that air traffic controllers ultimately are in control the plane-especially when parking- :lolhttp://www.mediafire.com/imgbnc.php/1b5baf...b9f427f694g.jpgMy blog:http://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/

I refer to the announcement of 'Live for Speed' on the home page. This program is free to download and use and it also has a great multiplayer facility too, even for free but you can only udse the one track until you register.Scawen Roberts, the guy that designed this racing simulator was commisioned to replicate the new BMW F2 racing car which appears now in the full 'S2' licence program together with many track and cars. There will be a league championship held via multiplayer and the person that wins it will get a real drive in that car and inclusion in the team.If your young enough and fast enough, this is your chance to become famous and earn mega bucks just like Lewi…

There is some integration between the Dreamliner's flight control systems and its in-flight entertainment systems.Apparrently the FAA has expressed concern that someone using the in-flight entertainment systems with a PC might be able to hack into the flight control systems and has told Boeing to make some changes.

If you answered, yes, then read this article............."With commercial aviation as rich as it is with mysteries and misconceptions, it's perhaps no surprise that plane-related topics are among the show's most frequent. Most recently, hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman attempted to find out if people with no flight training, namely themselves, could safely land an airliner. Their answer turned out to be yes, probably.""The correct answer, of course, is no, absolutely not. But who am I to quibble?"http://www.salon.com/tech/col/smith/2007/1...askthepilot258/Although, if you can manage a CATIII Autoland in FS world you might stand a better chance than most. AA flight ORD-FRA returned to gate tonight because of "problem discovered in our equipment checks" after leaving the gate and on the way to the runway. "If we had discovered this problem in the air, we would have had to divert, as we cannot cross the Atlantic without this equipment."We were also 45 minutes late leaving the gate as we waited for connecting passengers.-- Any thoughts on what the equipment was?-- Especially with the extra time at the gate spent waiting, what checks would be done after leaving the gate?I have wondered in the past why all checks aren't done while waiting, as the problem could have been addressed earlier instead of compounding the wait with a '…

many times on the net I have read that cat-1 ils can serve till the runway visbility remains atleast 550m. at my local airport, operators close the cat-1 runway for landing when visibility drops below 1600m, saying that they wont use it before RVR instrument is installed for the runway. the adjacent cat-111b runway has RVR instrument installed on it. should not the visibility info from it be sufficient to continue operations on the cat-1 runway?is an RVR machine exclusively required to operate in low visibility for a particular runway?

Dec 27th...Mission Control announces that all system checks are nominal and that the Space Shuttle Mission 2007 is scheduled for liftoff this weekend- weather permitting.Lot's of great screenshots. I've been waiting for this for quite awhile. Based upon the screenies and the DVD trailer done by JaggyRoad, my confidence level is high for this release. Perhaps I'll give FSX a rest and become a Rocket Man! :-)http://www.space-shuttle-mission.com/index.htmlAnd here is a link to the "VIP" lounge, where you can see the activity at the launch site, and watch the countdown clock march towards liftoff.http://www.space-shuttle-mission.com/purchasing.htmlCheers,bt
