It says on the front page of Avsim that Tower Simulator has been released, but on Wilco's website the release date is still unknown. Does anyone know if this program can be downloaded now? Thanks

  2. Fascinating Fact or Frenzied Fiction; no matter what your opinion this was a day in aviation historybthttp://www.wired.com/science/discoveries/n.../dayintech_06241947: Pilot Kenneth Arnold sights a series of unidentified flying objects near Washington's Mt. Rainier. It's the first widely reported UFO sighting in the United States, and, thanks to Arnold's description of what he saw, leads the press to coin the term flying saucer.

I assume since this is a flight simulator forum and not a real- pilot forum that the lion's share of posters are virtual ones. Flying as a hobby or pastime is expensive, very expensive, but if you had suddenly come into a large sum of money (Lotto, inheritance, etc) would you take flying lessons and get at leaast your Private ticket?--Roger

Hi All.I wonder if anyone in here might be able to help me with something.I am running Win XP Pro with SP3, and all MS Up-Dates etc.But last week I noticed that I could not start nHancer, I also found that I could not start up Vroute and when I went to try and install Windows Media Player 11 again, the install failed.I have removed and re-installed Vroute and nHancer, but this made no difference at all.I should point out that I have not installed or removed anything else as such, except for the new Digital Aviation Fokker.Everything else is running just fine etc, and I have not had any errors from any programs. When I try and start any of these apps, I get the standard Win…

Hi folks,Just a little rant here if I may ...Saw the notice on the front page of AVSIM about the server outage. And the reference to EDT !Please, please, please - when is a major player in the virtual aviation world like AVSIM going to learn to use standard time (UTC/ZULU/GMT)so that the many, many readers and visitors from around the world know exactly what time something is going to happen? This business of quoting everything in EDT or EST (which I know is east coast US time and five hours behind UK time and 6 hours behind mainland Europe time and 12 hours behind Hong Kong time and ..... ) is rather archaic when we are all about aviation - which uses and fully understan…

I was reading about a non-stop Continental flight from New York to Beijing. I was wondering, what's the route that these flights take? It looks so far away.Is there a webpage that can show me a map of these kinds of routes, or does anyone know the path they take? Thanks very much.

Someone asked me for this information ...If you want to get pilots license in UK, say other ratings like IFR, ME as well beyond the basic PPL is it possible under JAA rules to learn all the theory on your own with no formal ground training? We know that under FAA you can do it, the only requirement is that you must pass relevant written exams, but the question is how it works in Europe.Michael J.http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/9320/apollo17vf7.jpg

  13. The B-2 crash at Guam earlier this year was determined to be due to moisture in an (I'm guessing) air data computer sensor, which caused the aircraft to rotate early (apparently all this is under computer control) and subsequently to pitch up to approx 35 degrees, resulting in a stall and crash. Both pilots ejected safely. Video is here (just released):http://www.break.com/index/b2-stealth-bomber-crashes.htmlscott s..

Hi there,I'm starting to fly more frequently to places far far away and although my employer lets me go, they are rather stingy. I do get to go, but only on Coach. Most of my trips are overseas, I'm in the U.S. and my destinations are mostly Europe and Asia. On top of that most of these trips I have to hurry out of the destination airport and hurry to give a presentation......so being rested is very important to me.I've been thinking of paying for upgrades to business or 1st class myself but was wondering what other simmers do to do this "cheaply"? I do get miles with several carriers but I'm always short to upgrade. I've been on several flights were 1st class wasn't even…

  18. Hitta.se, a swedish equivalent to Google Earth and other online map providers recently launched an experimental 3D map service. Now all we need is TileProxy support ;)From what I can tell, it works by combing several aerial photos taken at low altitude with a very high resolution elevation mesh. This mesh is so detailed that every tree and building is represented. When it works, it looks pretty good. Buildings and trees really stick out, unlike the flat 2D textured buildings and trees that you get with normal photographic maps. They claim the process is fully automatic, but looking at the result, it looks like the process needs to be refined a little, or some manual corre…

Hi all, I regulary fly Heathrow to LA...However a question burning in my mind for some time now that I never got around to asking is:-Why, when flying do you fly over up over Scotland, over Iceland, down over Greenland and Canada..Why not just fly west coast of Ireland and straight over Atlantic into eastern US?

Do us a favor and tell us how it is when you do ;)I think we all know Feelthere can be hit or miss, it is supported by Wilco, it has limited screenshots including none inside the tower, no docs and no demo.Despite all of this I am still intrigued LOL.
