Hi everyoneI was wondering if anyone would know the rough altitude the B747-400Ds would cruise at, since they only fly domestically (or do they? Has anyone seen one of these non-winglet -400's away from Japan, maybe filling in for a -400 under maintenance, etc). Seems to me a packed 747 (and apparently they fly pretty full of people) would take a while to climb to any great height. Is there much of a difference in quoted range between the -400 and -400D?Thanks in advance, SLuggy

I think this stuff is neat, and I think you being FS folks will too, so I'll share with the rest of you:I was at Rocky Mtn Metro Airport (KBJC) near Denver last week, and spotted this baby:http://www.airliners.net/search/photo.sear...inct_entry=trueCheck out the interior photos...Then, I found the aircraft's history: Braathens SAFE, 1980's to mid 1990's (Braathens is in Norway)sold to Saudi Arabia, mid 1990's -- converted to luxury corporate jet (see airliners.net interior photos)By 2005, sold to Basic Capital Management, Inc./Majestic Corp. out of Dallas, Texas.Look how many flights that jet has done in the last week! (Addison is near Dallas Texas) Notice the last e…

http://www.cnn.com/2008/TECH/space/04/19/s...oyuz/index.htmlhttp://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080419/ap_on_.../russia_space_6Do astronauts train for this? Has anyone in the forums experienced such G-Forces in any type of aircraft? We think of the atmosphere as fluid, but imagine it having the force to slow a spacecraft with such high G's.Regards,John

Here's a little joke from a Hovercontrol member I thought was funny:A helicopter was flying around above Seattle when an electrical malfunction disabled all of the aircraft's electronic navigation and communications equipment.Due to the clouds and haze, the pilot could not determine the helicopter's position. The pilot saw a tall building, flew toward it, circled, and held up a handwritten sign that said "WHERE AM I?" in large letters. People in the tall building quickly responded to the aircraft, drew a large sign, and held it in a building window. Their sign said "YOU ARE IN A HELICOPTER."The pilot smiled, waved, looked at his map, determined the course to steer to SEAT…

I was looking to upgrade my Logitech Wingman Extreme 3D with something from Saitech. Their yoke is nice, but I like to fly choppers to. So I decided it would be the X52 system and their pro pedals.I was lamenting the fact I would have to save so much more when I clicked on "reconditioned items". I got the Pro Pedals for 80 bucks!!! The joystick wasn't quite as good a deal, it was only marked down to 109 from 169; but I was so happy about the pedals I went for it. Both, with shipping cost 200 bucks...UPS, Fleet don't fail me now!!!Best Regards, Donald T. :-waveFLYing? It's cool. Trillions of birds and insects can't be wrong.

Hello everyone,My final year dissertation is looking into ways how we can teach second year students the fundamentals of flight dynamics and performance, but also on the fidelity of the simulator. If anyone has any real world flight experience and a few minutes, could you possibly please help me out with the following three questions. They don't need to be any more then a few sentences per answer.Question 3 is a question that is seen all the time, and always receives a wide variation of responses. If you would also like me to acknowledge you in my report, then please post your name as well.Regards,JPQuestions:(1) Briefly, how would you describe the overall accuracy of Micro…

For online GA airplane buy-sell I like to check controller.com and trade-a-plane. I have already been watching both sites for many months (almost a year) as a hypothetical buyer of a Lancair homebuilt. I am primarily interested in a vanilla, fixed gear, 4-seater Lancair so my primary focus was Lancair ES. Unable to really find anything in this category I noticed that really the only Lancairs that are represented in any good numbers on those sites are very high-end airplanes, either turbine powered or pressurized (or both!!) so propjets, Lancairs IV or IV-P dominate, all fairly new, very well equipped and often marked "professionally built". I found a nice ES but it was ..…

Hi friendsI have not been around here much recently owing to pressure of work and other things; and am sorry to come here tonight for a reason I didn't expect, and to convey sad news. Many of you in the flightsim and real aviation world know Tim Westnutt. Tim passed away, this week, at 54 from a heart attack at his home in Holland. Tim was very much a part of our development testing at MAAM-SIM, and flew over for the MAAM show on occasions, which is how I knew him; but he was also close to Rob and friends at RealAir and many others in the FS community. I believe that his Dad was a Spit pilot, and he certainly put some time in on the RealAir product, I know! An accompl…

...between a real and an fs shot, it really shows us how far our hobby has come.I was browsing the headlines when I came across this article: http://www.hln.be/hln/nl/1901/reisnieuws/a...chappijen.dhtmlNever mind if you can't read the content, it's about the second photograph of the Garuda 737. If my eyes don't deceive me, that's clearly a screenshot from FS9.
