The weather here in Duluth was great today. Smooth skies, blue skies and perfect for "birds."http://www.airnav.com/airport/KDLHSince I work in the tower I thought I'd give Cirrus a ring and see if I could get a flight today. Well it worked out and my first impression was - wow these things are larger than they appear from the tower haha. And secondly, it was a lot harder to find my way around the airport from the ground! Jeeese, now I can see how some unfamiliar pilot would need progressive taxi. There's slopes and slants and elevation changes on the taxiways. It's just weird. First time I ever was on the ground in an airplane at DLH.The PIC was one of our awesome test pi…

While surfing another FS site, I came upon a thread where someone posted the following:"Well, if FS11 is more graphics intensive than FSX, I won't have enough proccesor power... Too bad..."But what really made me cringe was Phil Taylor's response to his post:"two things should help with that:1) the fact that FS11 is still a ways off gives folk a chance to get fundage ready for upgrades2) we are doing a lot of performance oriented work in the engine"I can understand point #2, but point #1 simply baffled me. I just hope I can build up some equity on my mortgage, which will allow me to refinance and "upgrade" my PC so I can run FS11 at half settings.

Can someone recommend a good virtual airline, with some structure, but with not too many rules, etc... as I have a pretty demanding job, but would like a bit more structure than Westwind... I posted something in the Virtual site also about my probs with Air France, but thought that I'd get more feedback here.Tks

Hi there everybody,This is my first post on the Avsim forums. First of all I must say what a great community we have here. No end of times I've found answers to issues I've had with various things to do with FS.Anyhow, onto the question in hand.My lady is off to London for the weekend on a Hen weekend (woohoo!!!) Therefore I have time on my hands without being nagged about trivial issues like, "clean the decking", "wash the cars", "decorate here, decorate there", "we've got a leak!"....yes a full weekend on FS awaits!I've just had a new machine and now am able to fly with all my sliders up to 100% with some great add on scenery and aircraft at a good frame rate.I'm lookin…

Hi all, just downloaded and installed this latest offering from feelthere. But on trying it, I cannot get past the DirectX check window. It says I do not have the minimum version installed and to press OK to install version5.0. This I cannot do as the mouse disappears behind the window and the only option left is to close the application from the status bar.On checking DXDIAG, I not only have version 5.03 but also version9.0 and no problems shown. Anybody got this running on XP? or any ideas as to what is going on?Regards JohnT

HelloAs a flight sim fan,but a person of limited real world aviation knowledge i was wondering why some airports that are capable of taking passenger aircraft(not talking tiddlers here)don't have an ILS landing system?(certainly the case in fs9)as it seems to me to be the best and safest way of landing aircraft.(again i am talking sim here.)I always get a bit of a cold sweat up when i am told to expect vectors visual as my ILS landings are (usually)pretty good, but my visual approaches still leave a lot to be desired :-) (although i am improving) did a good visual landing at YVCG (COOLANGATTA Australia) last night as there was no ILS at this airport.Andy

Hi, just curious to know why pilots do not use the Fokker F-100 rear brake on landing as much as the Fokker F-28, and F-70s. I searched airliners.net and found 1 or 2 photos of American F-100 using with airbrakes. Not too many for USAirways either. Just courious to know why. Thanks,Bill

This is a question for the real pilots out there. I was flying the 737-800 in FSX on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles. I noticed that from my fuel consumption, I was not going to make it to Los Angeles with the fuel I had remaining.I know that American Airlines flies the 737-800 on the Miami-Los Angeles route so it does have the range to make the flight. My plane was fully loaded and I was flying at FL320. My question is can a fully loaded 737-800 make it from MIA to LAX or is AA flying the plane with less than a full load? Or are they flying at a higher flight level which is more fuel efficient or do I just have lousy flying skills?
