On a change of pace and for a lighter topic...I guess it was inevitable I would end up flying trikes one day, as I had a fascination with kites when I was a boy and well into my teen years. Before I became aware of the stresses pilots deal with, I'd quite often fly my kites on the end of a 2000 foot line or longer. For some reason, some thirty years after I last flew a kite, the whim struck me to fly again. I bought an eight foot box delta kite (from a great online firm called g-kites). After flying it a couple of times, I realized it was quite capable of lifting a small digital camera. So I rigged my camera to it, and the rest you can see in the thread below:http://…

I just bought Acronis True Image Home and have been cloning my FS9 drive, which is smaller and is the primary (C:) drive, to a second 750gb HD (F:). I would like to keep more than one version of the image as backup, and also image the primary's on my other computers, but I just remembered that XP won't let me repartion a primary partition, which the cloning process has now marked the 750 gig drive. (Duh.) So I now have a 700 gb drive that is only holding 85 gigs of data.Is there any (cheaper/free) way that I can create more new partitions on my F: drive without paying That Faceless Giant Norton 70 bucks for Partition Magic? As always thanks in advance to the group.

I found these on the Boeing website!Boeing 747: * A 747-400 has six million parts, half of which are fasteners. * A 747-400 has 171 miles (274 km) of wiring and 5 miles (8 km) of tubing. * A 747-400 consists of 147,000 pounds (66,150 kg) of high-strength aluminum. * The 747-400 has 16 main landing gear tires and two nose landing gear tires. * The 747-400 tail height is 63 feet 8 inches (19.4 m), equivalent to a six-story building. * The 747-400 wing weighs 95,000 pounds (43,090 kg), more than 30 times the weight of the first Boeing airplane, the 1916 B&W. * The 747-400 wing measures 5,600 square feet (524.9 m 2 ), an area large enough to hold 45 m…

Well, now that Windows XP SP3 is out and freely available, is it really necessary for anything? I just did a complete reinstall of SP2 with all the security and various software updates right up this past week and all, so I'm thinking I don't need to install it, don't want to screw up my current installation of SP2. It appears on Windows update without being labeled as a "priority." I wonder if further security updates can be done over SP2 or one has to have SP3 layered in there?Randy Jura, KPDX

I watched an interesting show on National Geographic Channel the other night. It was about how they went about scrapping a 747. Kind of sad but fascinating. You guys might want to check it out if you have cable and are interested. The show is called 'Man Made-Deconstructing a 747'. A lot goes into tearing apart something that big and heavy and saving as much as possible for reuse.Kim

Hi all,I have discovered a link to a NOAA weather channel that lists the world wide airport reported weather in decoded text. It sure helps to know what the weather is at the destination ahead of time. It should be fairly close if you are using the FS Real Weather.http://weather.noaa.gov/pub/data/observations/metar/decoded/Try and enjoy.Richie1935

The day before Yesterday I bought the download version of the airbus collection2 for FSX at wilco's homepage (http://www.wilcopub.com/).There was nowhere to start the download, and when i finally ( After carefully researching!) found a download page there was no Airbus download, but just download for two products i bought at wilcos ages ago.I wrote to wilco instantly, but without any reply. Today is the third day in a row I am trying to get in contact with Wilco without any succes and I am getting wery impatient now. I have tried to get acces to their support forum-can't be done! I am worried. Have they closed their operations down or is it normal for this company to igno…

This was probably expected sooner or later. Having huge 10 inch PFD's with just brown/blue stuff and so much real estate virtually unused left many of us with the impression that 'something' was missing. The pictures below show some of the capabilities of the new system. Highway-In-The Sky is there too as can be seen on the 2-nd shot. But I think it is going to be expensive, with the extra $10,000 for these new features you are looking at around $90,000 for these toys.Michael J.

I found the below article very informative - it compares two airplanes - Cessna Mustang and Embraer's Phenom 100. Both are small personal jets of very similar parameters, Phenom 100 is only slightly more expensive but apparently offers more spacious interior in the cabin but clearly was not designed for a traveling skier. The article was written by a fellow who already put a down payment for the Mustang. Phenom 100 is still work in progress.http://docs.google.com/View?docid=dc6v3z97_13ccxt8vhfMichael J.http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/9320/apollo17vf7.jpg

  23. Well except for the masterfully programmed FSX, most PC games today are CRAP!The last 3 I have bought DO NOT WORK...Rainbow6 Vegas 2- A patch was released on... release day.I bought it for $50 and it will not run.I get a "video card not supported".My computer meets and exceeds all its specs and it even has a prog that show you sso.The forums are bloated with people having problems and Ubisoft offers ZERO support, Nada, none. Some want yo to roll back drivers which causes problems with other games. Some want reg edits. Settings so specific that you can BET its going to interfere with others. So today I buy Gears of War.Another $50 buts its been out a while and has great review…

  25. Not having been to an air show since I was kid, looks like I am finally going to see this coming Saturday, what Patty Wagstaff and stunt flying is all about. Obviously I'm very familiar with the name, which has been associated with the MS FlightSim series for many years. Looking forward to a day with the entire family indulging my interest for a change ;) Actually, I know my family will enjoy it as well.http://www.charlestonairexpo.com/index.html
