Hangar Chat
This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar. Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here. Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, climate change, COVID etc. Topics that elicit or are deemed by staff likely to elicit heated argument, contention, or otherwise objectionable banter will be removed from view. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=aAsiLaNqGYc&NR=1This video, I keep returning to view again and again. It's the best ever F-16 video I have ever seen. It's the Dutch Display pilot at a previous RIAT Fairford Tattoo. The negative 'G' climb outs show what strain is inflicted on the pilot during these manouvers. No wonder it's young men that get these jobs ;)I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I do?

There is a cool article in the latest issue of Popular Mechanics magazine that describes [a href=http://www.popularmechanics.com/marketing/covers/?fullSize=http%3A%2F%2Fmedia%2Epopularmechanics%2Ecom%2Fimages%2Fcovers%2F200808%2Ejpg&caption=August%2C%202008]Mojave as being the new Area 51[/a]. I posted this last night over at Hanger Chat, but it looks like not many have seen it. I don't usually double post like this, but this issue has potentially very serious ramifications for this community and possibly the future of flightsim itself that I wanted to make sure everyone has seen it. Please make all comments though over at the posted thread, so there's not 2 separate conversations.http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...36318&mode=full

I am a big LDS 767 fan. Before I saw this, I had never given emergency situations much thought. My thoughts were just to learn to take the airplane from place to place. However, after watching this video, I am not inspired to want to learn and practice, practice, practice such situations. It shows an emergency situation where a Thomson Fly 757-200 pilot has to shut down an engine and make an emergency landing after a bird strike just after take off at Manchester International Airport. The first part of the video shows good detail of the bird going in the right engine. Then, you see the fire and smoke and hear the pulsating sound from the damaged turbofan as the plane …

I just found this posted over at train-sim.com about a court decision involving digital models of real world objects, such as the aircraft created fr flight sim and other simulations. It has ruled that unadorned models of real world objects are not copyrightable, as they don't meet the creativity threshold, since their design is based on the real world object. Only original creative aspects, such as shading or lighting is protected. This essentially means the model repaint skin is protected, as far as individial touches such as lighting, shading etc... (Under this ruling the livery itself would probably not be protected, since it is and meant to be a replica of the real t…

From yahoo news probably wrong forum I leave it for others to commentPolitically correct? JohnLONDON (AFP) - A small British airport advertised for an air traffic controller -- and offered those interested an application pack in braille, media reported Friday.(Advertisement)According to the website for Saint Mary's Airport on the Isles of Scilly, off the southwest tip of England, controllers need to be able to keep a close eye on the changeable weather as their work "is not over-dependent upon very costly and sophisticated electronic equipment".But applicants for the job could still ask for an application pack in large type, braille or audio format, newspaper…

My VA uses the Project Opensky 737-800.I am flying it right now and the darn thing couldn't intercept or track a VOR radial if it's life depended on it.I am using the default panel in FS9.Does anyone know a good fix for this? Thanks in advance for any help.P.S. - I refuse to post for help on the POSKY forums because I don't like the attitude you get for asking for help about something they created. Thanks,CMC

Hello all.Just a post to ask if anyone out there knows much about current airline security issues.I just returned to Scotland from a pleasant holiday in Lanzerote. On the flight back in a B757, I was surprised/amazed/concerned to see the first officer standing in the forward galley just in front of the flight deck, and in front of the toilet which I was going to use.I presume that the flight deck door was locked, but although the cabin crew had drawn a curtain to hide this from view, he obviously had to exit then re-enter the flight deck.I don't think he was even using the toilet, and the flight only lasted 4 hrs.Does anyone have any similar experience?I would have thought…

Anyone who may have been following my reviews of Tower Simulator will note that I have, so far, been unsuccessful in achieving a refund from Wilco Publishing. However, I have contacted EU Trading Standards and their feedback has been very promising wrt the legality of Wilco's standpoint of "we do not refund downloads". I am awaiting confirmation that EU Trading Standards are willing to let me publish/release their communications to a wider audience, but the thrust of their messages so far is there is consumer protection available. That said, I am hesitant to release full details as unscrupulous customers may use this to ask for a refund for EVERYTHING - a point that I'm no…

They still need better lights inside and a second coat of paint. They did turn out OK.I bought the light components off someone on eBay. The rest is electical stuff from Lowe's. I'd love to bury one of those green LED rope lights in the walkway but the association might get mad... ;)Jimhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/190414.jpg

Hi I have been using Yahoo mail classic for a couple of years and it had all had all the things I wanted and nothing which was a time waster thing that I did not want...............now according to Yahoo, they have modified it due to customer demand.............frankly I am somewhat sceptical about that - that this change was customer driven. But either way until recently it was possible to create multiple copies of a document in drafts and save them, now you can't create multiple copies of a document in drafts and the one copy you do have of the document in drafts disappears when you send it.Is there any free to use e-mail out there that has the ability to save drafts in…
