Hangar Chat
This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar. Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here. Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, climate change, COVID etc. Topics that elicit or are deemed by staff likely to elicit heated argument, contention, or otherwise objectionable banter will be removed from view. We allow some latitude, but please remember that, first and foremost, this is a flight-simulator oriented site frequented by people from all walks of life.

I have just launched a design group called Xypher Simulation. I need as many volunteers as I can get to join the team. Here is the site, you can find more info there. http://www.freewebs.com/polarsoft/Look under the contact section of the site, and email that you want to become part of the team. Once again, we need as many people as we can get. We are always accepting people to the team! Enjoy!!!

I did it again :( I landed my Lago Beech Staggerwing D-11S with the gear up. This old-timer in the real world can sell for as high as half a million dollars!Anybody there in sim land care to share (confess?) to similar mishaps?--Roger

I've noticed that there are a lot of GA pilots out there flying in FSX. I fly the F1 PC-12 myself. Excellent plane and easily a favorite for me. When i take her out sometimes i'll check out flight aware (flightaware.com) and pick an interesting PC-12 flight or i might even go to flyingmag.com and try an interesting GA flight they might have an article on.I was curious though how everyone else chooses what to do with their aircraft and where to fly them. You can even let me know what you did for your last GA flight and why you picked it.Looking forward to hear from fellow virtual pilots.Jekyll

With sims marching on I decided to build a new machine to run FSX. With 8gb memory performance in mind I chose Vista 64 bit for the OS. Passing quickly over the difficulties of installing Vista 64 bit with more than 2gb of ram installed the system is now very stable and fast albeit with only 4gb of ram so far.Running FSX + UK VFR real scenery + UK airports SW + Radar Contact + FDC live cockpit with the FSX 737/800 frame rates of 65/85 are normal. The entire performance is very smooth. The first piece of bad news is that Radar contact has to be run as administrator. Not a hardship but no clear instruction to this effect. However I have just found the second piece of ba…

Hello everybody,First of all, I didn't know if this would fit in the FS2004 or FSX forum, so I'll post it here in the hangar instead.I was just browsing this week's files in the library when it stroke my mind. After about two years from its release was FSX a success compared to previous versions? And by that I mean regarding the amount of add-ons, freeware, shareware or commercial, released for it in the same period of time, that is within two years from its release.I don't know if AVSIM has an official way to tell how many files exactly were uploaded in a period of time for each FS version, but from what I see, FSX is way behind when compared to the amount of add-ons r…

Right now there is a Windows XP Pro license on auction at tradera (Swedish part of eBay). This license is for Dell computer but it's claimed it can be installed on any computer since it's a full version. Do you see any problems or risks getting a Windows this way?

Some high end GA aircraft are equipped with dual transponders. Why? Simply redundancy?

FolksFor anyone interested, Wilco have now released the latest patch to their genetically flawed Tower Simulator. Patch 1.2 claims to have tackled the Dash-8 profile at TNCM - now making it STOL - and also adjusted other aircraft speed while in the air. I'm sure most other customers will roll their eyes and wonder why Wilco/FeelThere have bothered with such inconsequential detail, while the sim suffers - no dies - from so many more fundamental issues.Watching the 71mb download last night I was excited to see a bunch of sound files apparently being updated, but as soon as the first a/c called for taxi at Munich, it was clear nothing had been done with the AWFUL voice. Alth…

Hello Everyone. My name is Stephen, and some of you may know me from some screenshots that I have posted in the past on this website. However, other than that, many of you don't know much about me. I am a recent college grad and newly commissioned Air Force 2nd Lieutenant. I was lucky enough to snag a pilot slot and I am currently at Laughlin AFB in Del Rio, TX and will soon begin pilot training this Wednesday, Oct 1. So, to document this milestone in my life, I've decided to blog a journal on the day to day activities that I will be involved with while going through pilot training. There are many reasons to why I am doing this, but I thought that maybe for those out …

Interesting article about the pilots losing a key landmark for that approach. How often do you see approach charts in NY Times articles?Colin WarePortland

A Swiss man has become the first person to fly solo across the English Channel using a single jet-propelled wing. Yves Rossy landed safely after the 22-mile (35.4 km) flight from Calais to Dover, which had been twice postponed this week because of bad weather. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/7637327.stmbt
