Hangar Chat

This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar.  Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here.  Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, climate change, COVID etc.  Topics that elicit or are deemed by staff likely to elicit heated argument, contention, or otherwise objectionable banter will be removed from view.  We allow some latitude, but please remember that, first and foremost, this is a flight-simulator oriented site frequented by people from all walks of life.

I've just moved house in the UK. Is there a website that shows what, if any flight paths i'm under?Found this just round the corner to my new house. I wonder how many of these little 'strips' are dotted around the countryside. Looks like this field even has a crop too.

Thought that was neat. The article said that given the right conditions, a 747_200 could sustain level flight on 1 engine. That was all they said.the article was about a 747_200 that ran into volcano ash and had 4 engines shut down. One was started about FL 140 and that is where the article said that. With one engine they were able to sustain a 300 ft/min drop. So level flight is a possibility. Reminded me of the 747 that lost an engine after TO in California and flew to Europe with 1 fuel stop I think. I wondered if another engine was lost over the middle of the ocean, how far could they go. Looks like quite a ways.JimCYWG

Hey everyone, just thought I get some views on what types of payware aircraft would you like to see in 2009? Honestly Corporate jets are sorely lacking, what do you think? I am not part of any development team but I would its quite obvious we have quite a few commercial jetliners. what type of corporate jets would you like to see? I say maybe the Dassault falcon 2000 or Hawker 800XPP.S - we all know we won't see any Gulfstream aircrafts so try to avoid that topic...

Hello allI don't do this lightly and I know I am not meant to post regarding disputes but I must post a warning of my experiences over nearly 2 years with the purchase of a 3 axis motion base from Cockpit in Motion of the Netherlands, run by Mr Kay Hunze. As you can imagine this cost quite a lot of money and I don't want others to loose thousands or Euros, Dollars or Pounds as I have. The product was very, very late in arriving and then would not work. I was returned to Hunze/CIM to be rebuilt and they have had it for nearly 5 months with only lame excuses. Once they received my money their communication was dreadful...they refuse to talk on the phone and only email after …

Has anyone heard any new information on Alphasim's C-17? Ever since they shut down their forums, it is impossible to get any updates on the C-17 or any other product of AS. The last time I checked before Alphasim shut down the forums, there had been about 60 pages on one thread on the C-17. The model they showed looked incredible, but whatever happened to it?

From the front page news;"It can truly be said that the release of the PMDG Simulations McDonnell Douglas MD-11 for Flight Simulator 9 has been the most anticipated release of this year."Still trying to digest the implications. Or the starkness of the statement. For 2009, nothing to be released will have the anticipation of the PMDG MD-11, so should any further product announcements be cancelled? Or given the release date of January 6th, does the release of the PMDG MD-11 overshadow those products that might have been released between January 1 and January 5, 2009?And if it can "truly be said", by whom?Too much for me to ponder. Happy New Year! :(

Can somebody tell how to define/determine the values for MP (Manifold Pressure), RPM (Rotation per minute), Config. (Flaps+gear), KIAS (Knots IAS) for any aircraft (mainly GA aircrafts) in the following situations:Cruise ClimbHigh Speed CruiseCruise DescentLow Speed CruiseApproach LevelApproach DescentDoes rules exist for defining these values for instance based on the different velocities of the aircraft (Vs, Vs0, Vx, Vy, Vno, .. etc) as defined in the POM (pilot's op. manual)?Best RegardsLars

Recent Shuttle Fleet, update 4.01, STS126 expansion pack for 4.00, etc contain scenarios that will not load and crash with error logs pertaining to ISS model configurations soyus, etc.Any suggestions? I suspect these "all inclusive" installs do not have certain ISS elements in the archive with no doc hints what might be missing.-Pv-

I am looking for the files needed for the Historical STS Missions. All 3.2 version Shuttles and the ISS files required. Or, perhaps, a set of scenerios for one of the newer fleets (3.8 or 3.9). My goal is to have all STS flights.

If you go into your control panel and go down to your AVATAR setting, and look at those that are on the system, they are pretty sad. So, what we are asking is that if you have a creative streak, we need you to create a flight simulation / aviation AVATAR.Guidelines:AVATAR must be aviation / flight simulation related. No adverts for your sister-in-law, please!!!AVATAR can only be 100 x 100 pixels. NO LESS, NO MORE!AVATAR can be of a real A/C image or an FS image. No animations.Size matters; remember, each AVATAR has the potential to be loaded thousands of time a day. Keep it's size as small as possible.Post your AVATAR here and we'll add the winners to the AVSIM Forum AVATA…

When reading the various causes of airliner crashes I have seldom noted that pilot error in not following ATC instructions is a factor. With so many ATC instructions being given to multiple aircraft how do "real life" commercial pilots concentrate on flying as well as listening to, and picking out, instructions specifically for their own aircraft? Some of you may or may not know that we actually have two hardware discussion forums. One under the FS category, and one in the Miscellaneous category. Personally, I find that to be "untidy". If you go back in history, the FS hardware forum was created for the simple reason that some folks were too durned lazy to scroll down the forum list to get the larger and more encompassing other hardware forum. Now I ask, why should we not reunify these two forums by integrating the FS Hardware forum into the Master Hardware forum? So tell me, what are your objections to doing this? And yes... We can bring the two together without loosing a single message. In fact, I am willing to cre…
