Hello.I 've been listening to O'Hare int Chicago tower via LiveATC.com while I fly FSX lately,I live on the approach for runway 28[the old 27L] I notice the pilots on approach call out ie"O'Hare tower, United 321 Heavy at Wilt" when they get approximately 7miles outside the airport. The tower usually says something of wind direction and gusts before giving the o.k. to land.My question is What is?......"Wilt" for runway 28?"Taft" for runway 27L?[i believe this could be Taft H.S.which is on approach to 27L]"Sibley"for the new runway 27R?"Ridge"for runway 22?[not sure L/R]Any info regarding this would be great!Thank You Captains/Patrick/

Hello All,Well, the first part of my journey is over. I went in for surgery on Friday 2/13. The surgery supposedly went better than planned and two complete muscles were removed from my right thigh. The Rectus Femoris and Tensor Fasciae Latae. I had to have emergency surgery once again on saturday 2/14 to remove a baseball sized blood clot that had formed in my leg. I was released from the hospital on Thursday 2/19 only to be readmitted to the hospital with severe pain on Saturday 2/21. A JP drain was placed in my leg (to remove fluid build up) during the original surgery and to me appeared to pushing on a nerve somewhere in my leg. After two days of me telling the d…

I have a Toshiba Laptop that I occasionally use on trips, if my desktop is on the blink, when I need something portable etc. It came with the abundance of Toshiba addon junk that is a pain in the XXXX at times if you know what I mean. Of course, all I have with it is the Manufacturer's OEM instalation CD which includes all of the stuff I am not interested in at all. I have intended to get another XP package for some time and replace the Operating System, which I did. I installed it, and then from the Toshiba CD installed only the drivers I needed to run the associated hardware. My purchase included the following:XP Pro Full InstallationSecond disk with SP2Price: $54.99Ship…

Hi,Does anyone know where I can get a matrix of flight times between worldwide airports? You know, like the type you get in road atlases where you run your finger along and read off the mileage for your chosen cities ...Alternatively, is there any way I can get this info out of FSX?Thanks in advance for any help.PPanPan

Has anyone here had any experience with Tech Manual Depot? www.techmanualdepot.com Have had their 747-400 AOM & CBT for about a year. Just switched laptops a couple weeks ago and moved their software into the new laptop. They require a new approval file when you do a reinstall (which they claim are free for as long as you own the software), so I sent the required files to the address the program generates. After two weeks and many follow up emails to both sales and support there has been zero response. Wondered if anyone else has had a similar issue with these people? Thanks.

I have been using ActiveSky 6.5 as my weather engine in FS2004 for sometime now. I have noticed that the hourly METARS lag behind 1 or 2 hours. I have verified that the time conversion factor for my current location is correct. I always use accurate UTC time in FS2004 yet I have lagging time differences. I have also noticed that although the METAR in ActiveSky 6.5 is correct that sometimes the weather is still wrong. I have been very happy with this weather engine as it is very close to the real world weather. I am just wondering if there is a better weather engine available. Any suggestions?

From X-Plane.com= = = Microsoft has laid off it's entire Flight Simulator development team, and many people are not sure what to do next. Many tens of thousands of people have been switching over from Microsoft Flight Simulator to X-Plane for quite a few years, and the current situation at Microsoft would seem to indicate that this trend will continue at an accelerating rate.We at Laminar Research are ready for the influx of new customers that is coming in now, and will be facilitating the move from Microsoft Flight Simulator to X-Plane to make the transition as easy as possible for everyone, and continuing to make X-Plane the most powerful, accurate, flexible, and fun fli…

i dont know if any of you has been but Is it just me or is Aviation law enforcement for this area extremly laxed. I went skiing the other day on a hill that was far less than 500 feet high and the airplane was clearly well below it, even though aircraft around this area and later that day were higher. it was not close enough to any airport that they could be on a final and they continued at this height for a while. It was really neat though for me to see such a low pass.

On 22nd Jan I bought the PIC 737 (both for FS9 and FSX) from Wilco. Installation went ok but when I came to run it the 737 software crashed FSX. I tried it in FS9 and it crashed in exactly the same place. I don't want to go into the technical side too much, suffice it to say that I can get as far as starting the APU but when I come to connect the APU onto the bus FSX (and FS9) crashes back to the desktop. There seems to be no provision for external power so I cannot start the engines at all. This happens if I try to start the flight with the engines already running

With all the rumours flying around right now about the future of MSFS, and in particular the one about a possible console version in the future, there have been several discussions here about consoles. I've seen a lot of hostility towards consoles in these discussions. In fact I read one thread this morning with a member here who was very scathing towards consoles. I've also seen this on other PC related forums.I'm just curious, where does this hostility come from? Why are so many PC users scathing towards consoles? Is there a certain "elitism" among PC gamers? How many of us here own a console? How many people here have actually *used* a console? My thoughts on the matter…

Sort of curious. Seems like everyone is cutting back these days. Are you finding yourself down-sizing your payware purchases too? Or maybe just the opposite... spending more time and money on the hobby rather than splurging and going out for leasure activities?

  20. Regarding the Avsim article on the future of MSFS. All I can say is, I've had it! I will continue to fly FSX as long as MS supports it and allows future activations. That's fine with me, and if they ever pull the plug on that then I'll revert to FS9. However, having said that, no way no how am I gonna buy an XBox to fly any future incarnation of FS, nor will I be forced to pay for every extra plane or scenery area! In my opinion Microsoft has gone way too far here! I suppose that thier thinking is that they could make more money that way, but in reality, again in my opinion, the money made from this move will not be for Microsoft, but rather for Austin Meyer the crea…

There are often complaints posted about the support offered by add-on developers. I sometimes wonder just how realistic the expectations are?Add-ons typically cost around US$50. For that For this unlimited personalised support on a one-to-one basis seems to be expected That is,an e-mail is sent, it's dealt with by an individual and a personal reply is returned. In the USA, current average hourly earnings are US$22.21 for people engaged in professional and business services.http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.t16.htmAllowing a factor of 2 to cover costs of employment (accommodation, computers, holidays, social security, etc) the equates to a cost of US$44/hr.
