This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar. Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here. Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, climate change, COVID etc. Topics that elicit or are deemed by staff likely to elicit heated argument, contention, or otherwise objectionable banter will be removed from view. The Just Flight C-130 Hercules, does any body have it? Yeas and nays. PC Aviator has a 10 pc-off sale going on, plus my discount for being a Computer Pilot magazine subscriber has me wanting to spend a little for the "economy." Also, the Abacus' Cessna 162 SkyCatcher which I can legally fly in real time under the LSA regs ( and if I hit the Lotto) has my interest, too.Remark?Happy Holidays.Roger

The demise of the MS ACES Studio in January caused a shiver to run through the flight simulation hobby. Opinions of that event have ranged from very negative to very positive. So, what is the state of our hobby today? What does the future hold? How do you feel about the health and well-being of Flight Simulator? AVSIM has launched a 17 question survey to find out - The State of the Hobby Survey. Please take the State of Hobby Survey and let us know about you, your participation in Flight Simming, and how you feel about the future. You can take the survey here.

We are pleased to announce that AVSIM has today brought online our new Links System database. As part of the AVSIM Forums, it allows much more intuitive use, a tremendous search capability, and security that the old DCLinks system could not provide. Unfortunately, we were not able to migrate the over 1600 links from the old database to the new system. Therefore, if you have a site gear toward your flight simulating interests, are a publisher or reseller, or any of the many other simulator genre's, we encourage you to put your site in the Links System today! You can access the Link System by clicking on the link at the top menu bar, or by going here:The New AVSIM Links Syst…

I read about this in Aviation News the other day and it really made me laugh, so I thought it was worth relating:An Iranian defence radar picked up an unidentified aircraft which the controller thought was in Iranian airspace and so they called it up on 121.5Mhz, and this is the conversation which ensued...Iranian defence radar controller: 'Unknown aircraft at (location), you are in Iranian airspace. Identify yourself.'Aircraft: 'This is a United States aircraft. I am in Iraqi airspace.'Iranian defence radar controller: 'You are in Iranian airspace. If you do not depart our airspace, we will launch interceptor aircraft!'Aircraft: 'This is a United States Marine Corps F/A-…

I went to Hooton Air Park, a WW1 air force base across the river from Liverpool, back in November, to make a promo video for the site (which is falling into major disrepair, unfortunately), and found this gem in Hangar 2 - the only hangar structurely sound enough to go in without a hard hat.Apparently it had been dug out of the ground by the river, or something similar. I simply can't put a name to the face though!I was wondering if anyone knew the aircraft this came from. After long debate with a friend, we've established it is not an A10, DeHavilland Vampire or P38. We can't think of anything else. ( http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i223/jon...rs/IMG_7970.jpg )What do …

your in an airbus a320 aproaching runway 33r of torontos pearson international. your to close too low and too slow to power up and go around. a fueling truck pulls onto the runway. what do you doi jammed full rudder back then the other way to land on an unused taxiway, then running close to the end of the taxi way i put full speed break and turned the plane out of the way of oncoming buildings with the rudder again when it was slow enough.I was wondering if there is a better procedure for this senario or if what i did was right?

BA has arranged to sell 11 of its B757s which will be converted into freight aircraft when they are sold between 2010 and 2012. Four will still be operated by BA's OpenSkies subsidiary. The 757s will be replaced by new Airbus A320s.

Here is an excerpt from a PCPilot review:""The depth of detail is simply staggering... The finest 2D cockpit ever made for an airliner simulation... The whole 2D panel and pop-ups are simply a work of art... The attention to visual detail is stunning... the finest rendition of this aircraft we have seen within desktop simulation... one of the finest airliner expansions ever made... Nothing short of a tour-de-force"The reason I ask about their reputation is because I leave you to guess to which product they refer in the abovementioned snippet. However, knowing what I know of the product I am wondering the following:1) They got a totally different product than I got.2) The…

A passenger was not allowed to board an aircraft in Austria because he had tennis racquets in hand baggage. Tennis racquets are prohibited articles under an unpublished Annex to EU Regulation 622/2003. This Regulation deals with the implementation of common standards on aviation securityThe European Court ruled that this Annex this had no binding force because the Annex had not been published. It said that the principle of legal certainty enabled those concerned know precisely the extent of the obligations imposed on them.

A victory for passengers. In the EU air passengers are entitled to claim compensation from airlines in the event of delayed boarding, and of cancellation or long delays of flights. Until now airlines have avoided paying out under an exception claiming that delays were caused by extraordinary cirumstances which could not have been avoided even if all reasonable precautions had been undertaken.Alitalia cancelled a flight because of a turbine failure discovered the day before. It refused to pay compensation on the grounds that this was "extraordinary". Passengers toook Alitalia to court and won at the highest level in Europe. The European Court (Court of Justice of the Europ…

Interesting and sobering read...bthttp://spaceflightnow.com/shuttle/sts119/090327sts27/The exhaustive attention NASA now devotes to making sure shuttle heat shields are damage-free and safe for re-entry is a direct result of the 2003 Columbia disaster. But a blacked-out military flight 21 years ago still stands out as a warning to astronauts, engineers and managers, a frightening "close call" that had the potential to bring the shuttle program to an early end. It was that close.
