Hangar Chat

This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar.  Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here.  Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, climate change, COVID etc.  Topics that elicit or are deemed by staff likely to elicit heated argument, contention, or otherwise objectionable banter will be removed from view.  We allow some latitude, but please remember that, first and foremost, this is a flight-simulator oriented site frequented by people from all walks of life.

I've noticed that since a couple of weeks, the FSDreamTeam website has been offline quite a lot.Anyone any idea what's going on?Would hate it if they would go belly up, cause they make fantastic scenery addons for both FS9 and FSX (bought every single one of them).Regards,Frank

I can't help but notice all the posts by David "OPA" Marshall. They are a great source of technical help. So just for grins, someone who is experienced with airport ought to build David an airport. Could call it David Marshall Field or Marshall Field, Airport code could be KOPA. This code isnt used for any other airport, I checked. I think the OPA kinda got me started on this. Anyway just a thought. Add a little humor to the forum.Don't ask me to do it, I can't draw a line with pencil and paper let alone the computer.John

I heard that Microsoft was not supporting Flight Simulator anymore and there would be no new releases. I can't get any more info on this anywhere. Can anyone confirm this. I love FSX, but it woun'ty sustain us for the next 10 years.

  10. I may feel that what I am posting is directly related to FS9, (not any other forum), and would like the common courtesy to have someone respond directly to anything that I post first, rather then have something moved where it might not be effective and might not be to the point. Wadda ya think?Mark

Just heard on the radio that yet another RAF air experience Grob Tutor has been involved in a mid collision, on this occasion with a single seat glider. The glider pilot apparently parachuted to safety:http://uk.news.yahoo.com/21/20090614/tuk-t...on-6323e80.htmlThose of you in the UK will know that not long ago, a pair of RAF Grob Tutors collided with one another, also whilst conducting air experience flights, and with similarly tragic consequences:http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/UK-News/T...200902315225445This is bound to call into question the practices of these flights in the UK, which do seem terribly inept, especially given that the Tutors wear RAF markings, but are…

  12. The pilot really screwed the pooch on this one. Not sure if he was trying to give the camera guy a show or what, but he obviously didn't have enough speed to be rotating. He should've keep going on down the lake along the fence line. Funny. Someone said he's a surgeon too! LOL

At the Paris Air Show Scott Carson, president and chief executive of Boeing's commercial aircraft division said this:"If you were expecting the 787 to fly during the air show you will be disappointed, If it had happened during the air show it would have been great, but It was never our intention." "The airplane will fly when it is completely ready." (emphasis added)I guess the "we'll release the plane when it's ready" phrase is not only a flight simulator developers' mantra! He, he.Gianluca

$8.00 in titleJust watched CNN report on Gulfstream Air whose aircraft crashed in Buffalo. While pilot error seems to be the cause the wage scales of these people are shocking.A co-pilot with this airline receives base pay of $8.00 per hourA captain starts at $20.00 per hourNew pilot applicants at Gulfstream must have the usual ratings and 250 filght hours. They receive 3 months of Gulfstream training for which THEY pay $30,000Either CNN is wayy off base,or I can't hear and see on-screen graphics. This outfit does the regional flights for Continental with repainted aircraft. I would not ever board an aircraft driven by people qualifed and payed in this manner. No wonder t…

  23. This story was in the local news today (definitely no hoax):A couple from Northern Italy luckily missed flight AF 447 in Rio and were rebooked to another flight connection to their final destination Munich. On the way from Munich Airport back to their home in Northern Italy they had an accident with their private car, obviously do to speeding. Both were taken to a hospital here in Innsbruck, were the wife died today! Her husband is still under critical physical conditions in intensive care. What a twist of fate.Wolfgang

Hi guys, glad to see AVSIM is recovering fast. As I am working on a little software project I require some information on slots. Is it possible to get a slot removed shortly before departure while sitting at the gate, whats happening if you miss a slot, how long and why (traffic?, weather?)might a slot be delayed backwards or could you even be offered an earlier slot? Many questions to ask, as you see. So, if someone has a bit of knowledge on this, please let me know!Greets, Benny
