Hi, Just wondering what people thought of the interview of Mathijs Kok (Aerosoft) via pdocast at FSBreak? I heard some interesting and surprising things from one of the big payware development houses about the state of commercial flight simulation. In particular, the mention of the development of a new stand alone sim engine to replace MS's and in my view, the reasons that are driving this.regards,Macs :)

I flew from CYWG to CYHZ recently. A real flight. We flew through those real puffy clouds and I can see now why it brings my Core2Duo E8400 to 10 FPS with a 2d view in one monitor and a full spot view in the other.JimCYWG

I read recently read somewhere that a United Airlines pilot had said a civillian member of the public could get a license or certificate from the FAA to be approved permission to the cockpit on a commercial flight. The writing said you would need captains permission before hand and that there are billions of forms needed.I only travel Non-rev and an immediate member of my family is an airline employee with full security check and airside pass.I thought this sounds interesting but I do not believe that the FAA would allow this oppotunity to a member of the public however I thought I would ask over here just to double check.ThanksRichy

Just curious if anyone whipped out the credit card and bought this thing. I know it can't be modeled accurately as far as systems go (no offense to these guys). But is it at least believable? I'm looking for a decent DC-Nine-o-saurus as I've been infatuated with them since I saw one first in Northwest colors at CLT when I was a kid--small child for the seniors in here. :( If not, are there any suggestions for a pretty DC-9 with a decent VC and systems. Not MD's offerings.

I haven't seen another thread posted of this, so forgive me if I overlooked one that may already exist. The 787 underwent it's first self-powered taxi tests yesterday. We have a video on the Boeing intranet that's beautiful. The sound of the engines is like music to the ears. :) I looked around to see if that same video has been released to the public, but sadly, it's not. Here's one similar to it with no sound: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVOgXezZPW8...feature=relatedAnd here's one taken from spotters outside of Paine Field: I can't wait for first flight! Hopefully the issues that were discovered in gauntlet will be resolved sooner than later so we can see this bea…

Flight Video Productions had some great downloadable flight videos on the Meridian, PC12, King Air, and Columbia 400. There website also showed previews of some other aircraft they were planning on doing. The last one on the Columbia was excellent quality. I asked them when the next video was being released and they kept saying in the near future. Now the website does not mention the future planes anymore, just the available ones. Their support link does not work anymore, nor does the info link. Does anyone know if they ceased operations? If so, too bad. Regards, Tom

Can anyone please help. In the 1980s/90s I purchased a Flight Sim programme from a British company, Digital Aviation, the prgramme was called Light Aircraft Simulator 5. The ground graphics were pretty (or very) basic indeed, not that I cared. I would love to lay my hands on a version 5 or even 6 if one exists, or be pointed in the direction of someone who can supply me. Alternatively is there another programme on the market that displays clearly a good flight deck, including aviaonics then please forward details. [email protected]

I'm responding to the post by ClaudeParis in the now-locked library thread. (At least I'm not asking when the library will be back online. :)xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxOn the eve of the USA's celebration of the War for Independence, I will remind ClaudeParis that the French Revolution was inspired by the American Revolution, and that our first president, George Washington, was greatly admired in post-revolutionary France. At the sametime I must acknowledge the very great contributions made by France to the American Revolution, including by the French General Lafayette, who is a hero here in the USA.
