Am I the only one who still prefers FS2004 over FSX? Will FS 2004 remain the sim of choice for some time to come for most simmers? or will X-plane displace MSFS eventually as the sim of choice for the majority?Macs

I'm a flightsimmer using FS9 and I find it easy to take off in a C172 and fly a pattern and land the plane in one piece. I prefer the F1 C172. I'm curious about what would likely happen in if I would enter a real C172 at the end of the runway with engines running and try flying a pattern in real life doing as best as I can? In FS9 I immidiately apply full throttle. Would that kill the engine? From FS9 I would expect the plane to tend to turn to left and I would try to correct with some right rudder pedal. Is thast likely to keep mr on the runway? What would I experience in real life and how bad would this go? Would I be able to takeoff? I would look at the speed and push …

I trust this section is the same as Letters to the Editor in the newspapers. I don't know where else to post this observation.I was checking out the Just Flight discount with the intention of purchasing some addons. Looking at their products however, I found them to be grossly overpriced. eg: FS9 - $45, FSX deluxe $60. FS9 is available locally for $30 and FSX Deluxe is priced at $40. What other items are they overcharging on? That 15% discount doesn't seem to mean much.CaptLou

I can't believe it. It seems like it has been at least a week since I have seen any complaints about forum performance; no grumbling, no name calling, no aspersions cast on us, no challenges to the legitimacy of our fathers.... What gives? We were getting used to all that. Now I feel like I am going through withdrawal. :( Given the peace and quiet, I think it is time for me to start experimenting with some kewl add-ons to the forum software. Yeehaw!

  12. Captain held responsible for unauthorized actions which resulted in crash says F.A.A. NTSB report on Flight 1549US Airways violated Federal migratory bird regulations by hunting geese with an A320 Airbus jetliner, claim anonymous government sources. The pilot of flight 1549, Air Force veteran and avid hunter Chesley B. Sullenberger, tried combining both of his interests by bagging a brace of geese over the wetlands near New York's LaGuardia airport after takeoff, on his way to Charlotte, North Carolina. The imported European $77 million A320 airliner is not certified for either waterfowl or upland bird hunting, so it was not surprising that the aircraft malfunctioned. Hypothetically thinking, here...With the suggestion that MS may have been considering leaning more toward "gaming", there's some thought that FSXI, should it ever see the light of day, may end up on 360.Hard drive capacity is easily enough; I don't have the technical knowledge to know whether the hardware can "keep up", butThe ifs:IF FSXI were released on XBOX 360 or the next iteration,IF all navaids and airports were included,IF a joystick/yoke/pedals became available,IF the graphics ran fluidly on an HD TV,Would you buy a setup?Personally, I have an XBOX now; however, I'd say that the experience of running FS fluidly on a widescreen TV seems pretty gripping to me, enoug…

Almost all modern jets offer autolanding capabilities right to touchdown and autobraking using wheel brakes. But apart from everything being auto the reversers are still deployed by the pilot even on the newer planes. why dont any aircraft offer an option for something like autoreversers?

This animation is absolutely mind boggling! It's hard to imagine so many aircraft in the air during the day over the U.S. Watch the progression start from east to west in the morning. If you have Quicktime on your computer, click on 'watch animation' under the top picture for watching the clearest views in the first link.http://www.aaronkoblin.com/work/flightpatterns/Here's the youtube version, but it's not as clear as the one in Aaron Koblin's site.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCEM-ZcB14AKim

I don't know if many of you have seen this animated recreation of the US Airways Hudson River ditching, but it's interesting to watch. They've overlaid the radio transmissions to correspond with the flight positions of the aircraft and show the vectors the pilot took during flight. One damn good pilot!
