After much grief, I finally realised that the reason that I could not see the Comercial part of the Gallery was that I was not logged in. Forget posting a pic or comment, you can not even see the Comercial Gallery at all unless you are logged in. Is there a reason for this, or is it just a glitch?Either way, thanx for your efforts Avsim and the new forums...Donald T.

Twas the night before Christmas, and out on the ramp,Not an airplane was stirring, not even a Champ. The aircraft were fastened to tie downs with care,In hopes that come morning, they all would be there. The fuel trucks were nestled, all snug in their spots,With gusts from two-forty at 39 knots.I slumped at the fuel desk, now finally caught up,And settled down comfortably, resting my butt. When the radio lit up with noise and with chatter,I turned up the scanner to see what was the matter.A voice clearly heard over static and snow,Called for clearance to land at the airport below. He barked his transmission so lively and quick,I

I came across a .RAR file, and I realized that in my last hard drive purge I must have deleted my freeware archive utility. Trouble is, I can't remember which one I was using at the time. I'm fairly sure it was not 7Zip, although that's what I plan to use to handle this .RAR file. I am wondering is there is a freeware (not payware with a free trial) archive application that is better than 7Zip? 7Zip is fine, it will do what I need it to, I am just wondering if anyone can point me to the other app I was using. Jeff ShylukAssistant Managing EditorSenior Staff ReviewerAVSIMEDIT -- Never mind! I found my old app: TUGZip. Found it like two minutes after I posted this…

At approximately 2:00 P.M. EST today we cracked a record, I think. We had 277 users in the forums or reading the forums at that point. When we picked this software, we were looking for ROBUST! I think we found it. BTW... I broke it three times so far today and no one even noticed! :( If it this busy today, I shudder to think what we can look forward to tomorrow when the holiday break really gets started!

I just wanted to take a moment to wish everyone here at AVSIM a Merry Christmas, Happy Hannakah, or whatever holiday you are celebrating. I just returned from my routes this week to find that my house has been robbed and just about everything I had of value is now gone. I will be without a computer, no flight yoke, no rudder pedals, no t.v., not even a microwave, but the one thing they could not take away from me is the ability to come here and chat with my fellow simmers who mean a lot more to me than any possessions. I hope that, despite some of the bickering that we go through in the forums, that everyone here will be grateful for each other and what AVSIM has given us…

On Dec. 17, 1903, Orville and Wilbur Wright made the first powered aircraft flight, for a timespan of 12 seconds. The flight was shorter than today's economy section of a Boeing 747. Nevertheless, it was a huge step forward. Incredible when you look at how airplanes evolved from the Wright Flyer to the Boeing 787/Airbus A350/beyond!Happy 105th Anniversary of Flight everyone! Not only that, but have a very Merry Christmas/Hanukkah/your festival and a happy new year! Thanks to everyone at the AVSIM Staff for all your dedicated service.

I can't remember when it was I was first introduced to a Spirograph. Had to be around 1965 or 1966, and I could not draw anything with the darn contraption--my pen kept skipping out of the little hole on the little wheel. I think it was my first attempt at "art" and I failed miserably. When I started work on a MSFS project early last year, I thought that a Spirograph would be a great way to generate a logo for a fictitious livery. But the thought of using one of those contraptions, scanning it, etc, was too much. Brought back those painful memories (just kidding folks) of my attempts at mastering the mighty Spirograph.Anyway to shorten the boring story, I set out to ap…

I just saw my friend's itinerary for a flight from KPHL to KSFO in a few weeks. The flight leaves at 6:10 am, and the flight time is listed as 6 hours, 27 minutes!! This got me looking at other flights from Philadelphia to San Fran as well as KLAX. They are all around 6 hours plus. I seem to remember when westbound flights took from 5 to 5 and a half hours. Is this because pilots are slowing down to save fuel? Thanks. Tom

We haven't yet been able to sort out the bad grammar problem yet, but spelling we have taken care of in the forums. When you compose a message, you now can spell check your posting BEFORE you send it. It is simple to operate. If you do not have the proper browser add-on to make it work you will be prompted to download it. Do so! It is simple, fast and will make my mother proud of you! Remember... spell checking is like using condoms... you won't be embarrassed later! :(

http://www.imaginesim.com/Thought I would pass on excellant Customer Service by the above Scenery developers.I purchased scenery from them a month ago. Sadly, I was having an off day and purchased scenery for FS2004 which I don't use.I emailed them on Friday and asked if there was any chance of exchanging the scenery to something which I could use in FSX. They replied within 24 hours asking me to choose between the range of scenery available. I did and within minutes was provided with a download link for Charlotte Douglas Airport. My last post was criticising Wilco/Feel there for their lack of customer service. How nice it is to heap praise on Imagine Sim.The scenery i…

I am wanting to put together some hops around the Pacific for the flying club I belong to. We are wanting to get in some old WW2 war birds and do some island hopping and I was wondering if anyone out there has done this and has any routes they liked? Any ideas would be helpful and appreciated. If you know of any good scenery to go along with it, that would be fantastic. ThanksRandy

If anyone's interested: this is a pretty cool, free sailing game.Pick a name, paint your boat, hoist the right sails, set a course and off you go (check the weather forecasts!)... Check back in a few hours to see if the wind has changed and make the necessary adjustments.http://regate-virtuelle.france3.fr/It's in French, but I'm pretty sure it's self-explanatory for those who don't know the language. Register by clicking the big blue "Jouer/Inscription" button, fill in a bogus adress (but a real e-mail adress) and make sure to uncheck the boxes asking permission to send you newsletters at the bottom. Go to your e-mail account and click the big, black "J'Active mon Compte"…

If you look at the left side of your display while in the forums and looking at threads and messages, you will see "PIPS", those little gray'ish graphic thingys that visually represent where you stand in the hierarchy of membership. Newbies have one, and in the current system, the highest has three. In addition, you will also see the ranking called out as a phrase; newbie, members, advanced member, etc. These two values, the number of PIPS and the user ranking are both determined by messages posted. The more messages you have posted, the higher in rank you achieve. Here are the questions; Do we want to modify this ranking system to something related to aviation? Or, someth…
