I'm curious if anyone here knows what the restricted airspace in Horseshoe Beach, Florida is for. It extends from ground level up to 15,000 feet. It doesn't affect my flight plans, but I just happened to notice it on my new Jacksonville sectional and was wondering what it is restricted for. It is only about 3 nm wide.

Can anyone tell me the take off distance required for a Jetstream 41 with a 50% fuel load (and no passengers or cargo)? I'm not interested in safety margins here, by the way. I want to know the calculated distance required for the plane to become airborne, without worrying about flight safety regulations or other real world factors.

I have no real-life flight experience but I am thinking of beginning an airliner pilot training. I am based in the UK and have got good A-level and GCSE results. From the research I have already done it seems that the only UK-based airline to offer sponsored training is easyjet. I'm not sure if this is the best place to ask for advice on this matter but I guess it is a good place to start. So if anyone can advice me on the best route to become an airliner pilot it will be much appreciated. Thanks

There is a nice selection of UK airport diagrams at the www.ais.org.uk website. However, this is far from being a complete catalogue, so I was wondering if anyone here knows where I could get airport diagrams for the rest of the UK airports (including military)?

Ok, I know this is not aviation related, however avsim is really the only place I post for things since I go here daily. I need a new affordable TV for my master bedroom around $200- $300 price range. I don't know much about LCD, however will this work with my digital cable?I'm looking for a 22in flat panel TV, nothing really fancy. I found this one, but it looks like a monitor, will it still function as a regular TV? I has RCA and a cable connection on the back.http://www.legendmicro.com/store/6377_View...32W.lmsp?RID=23Thanks,Bill

Why do I even bother trying to flight sim when the #### phone rings at least 1/3 the time on final! God it's so irritating. Now I don't get that many calls at all, but the ones I do get I feel I need to answer. I swear I can go through an entire flight, but as soon as I need to "fly" the plane, I get an interruption.

I earlier used this forum to ask a question about weather related issues and the FAA. Several people answered with detailed answers. As a follow-up, I want to report that I just learned today from an ultra relieable source that the government settled with a "very substantial payment" to the three widows. The widows contended that the FAA mistakenly vectored my friend into categorized "weather". The government contended that weather is the ultimately the pilot's responsibility. If I remember correctly, I think they were seeking around 6 million dollars each. One was an attorney, the other a doctor, and the third was the Director of Indiana Drug Enforcement. I could of, b…

I am a big Penn State football fan and try to get to as many games as I can get tix for. (Usually next to impossible!) I like to drive by KUNV the University Park Airport on the way to the game to check out what charter the opposing team comes in on and what type of plane. Usually its either a 737 or DC9. Last weekend PSU played Oregon State, and since I couldn't go to the game, I checked out the team flight on FlightAware. Nothing seemed to be coming in from Calif to KUNV, so I decided to check out KMDT in Harrisburg. (PSU used to use KMDT for their team charters before KUNV was updated.) Sure enough, the Oregon State charter went out of Eugene OR on Thursday, they …

Just for fun, what's your favorite twin engine T-tail airliner and why? I love the Maddog, first commercial airliner I rememember flying on (Delta) and first that I worked on as a ramp agent (Delta again). Love the DC-9 but the MD-80 takes it further. I think it's a great looking jet that has some great sounding engines. I heard from a fellow pilot who flew AA MD-80s for a short while that he despised them and that it seemed like the cockpit was just a hodgepodge of different equipment thrown together. Maybe so. I guess the Fokker F-100 left a great impression on him (he only had great things to say about the F-100). What do you think?

Well, I've been all over the world and most of the U.S., but I've never been to Seattle. I've been to South Africa (20 hour flight), all over Europe, Hawaii, and most to the Continental U.S., but NEVER the beloved airport of KSEA from which I've flown in FSX so very, very much. I've enjoyed many take-offs and landings at KSEA and Boeing Field, and I've always loved looking down at where the Seattle Seahawks play! I've circled the Space Needle, and have used this great airport very often when testing FSX config setups for FPS comparison rates.Last night (the 20th), my Wife and I finally flew into Seattle on a commercial flight! We're staying here a few days at the Marri…

Just a random curiosity. On the FSX box, there's the fancy "Microsoft Flight Simulator X (Deluxe Edition)" title. What do you think FS11 will be called on the box?I personally like "Microsoft Flight Simulator 2010: Turn of a Decade." :-) Then again, it could be called Flight Simulator XI...What do you think? Thanks!

An update from AAIB has been released.http://www.aaib.dft.gov.uk/cms_resources/G...im%20Report.pdfThe main thing I got from it, is that the only thing that can really fit the data is a restriction in fuel flow in the engine prior to the engine-driven HP fuel pump which resulted in a too-low fuel flow into the engines.Causes of this fuel flow restriction are not determined, but the possibility of some blockage, possibly by ice in the fuel system, is the most suspicious. The problem in better defining this is that so far testing and data analysis have been unable to duplicate a blockage caused by ice in fuel. The report does admit a couple of things:unable to exactly recr…
