http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/x65f.htmI'm curious of the release date. I've been saving for the Saitek Proflight Yoke, but maybe I'll hold out for this one (or just get both). Does anyone know more about it?I'm currently using the X52 Pro, and I'm happy with it. This new X65 has some awesome features though-- like the stick that works in much the same way the real Airbuses or the F-16 works, by pressure as opposed to actual movement. I fly about every modern sim there is, both combat and "civil'", so I'm torn in keeping my X52 and buying the yoke, or grabbing this thing up when it's released (provided it's not $400).EDIT: After searching through the SimHQ forums, rum…

just wondering why do some airports have two types surfaces on the same runway? Noticed in satellite pics some asphault runways have about first 500m of concrete like light brown portion before the main asphault surface. Is there any advantage of such design? In the pic the end section has pcn 84/R/W/T, rest asphault section has 90/F/B/W/T. what I can figure out so far is the end is rigid and slightly weak.

Anyone got the H1/N1 virus yet? They just shut down my daughter's school for a week and some friends of ours have it, the whole family in fact.I guess it's just a matter of time before we get it, too.Even though mortality rates are extremely low and it's really just a bad flu, it's still the kind of thing that makes you go 'yikes'.

With the latest news about ACES and the future of Flight Simulator, will some other developer step up to the plate and provide a NEW Flight Simulator product? I know we have X Plane, but is there even a possibliity of a product that can compete with the Microsoft investment in this wonderful hobby of ours?Truly, I am very concerned. FSX is satisfying....but how we we ever progress past this point?Stan

I'm not sure where to post this, so redirect it if this is not the spot.I just tried to place an order, but can't seem to complete it.I put an item in the basket, proceded to check-out, get the account info screen, complete that and click to continue check-out. The next screen changes items in basket back to zero and gives me a message that there is nothing in the basket.Have tried it several times with no success.Any ideas what I am doing wrong? Thanks,Wilson

What a great little program. It's a fairly simple, basic premise - it gives your iPhone access to the entire set of LiveATC live radio feeds. When I bought it, it was $3. I balked initially at it being that price, but when you think about it, the app effectively turns your iPhone into an airband scanner with limitless range. So long as your airports of interest have LiveATC feeds, you can listen to them where ever you are! Looks like in the days following my purchase, they put it on sale for $0.99, so at least temporarily it's on par with many other programs. For that price, there's really no excuse if you're an airplane junkie. Sound quality through the iPhone speakers i…

Today was my first time ever on a small G.A plane. 30 minutes exploring the wonders of New Zealand. I got to do take off and all the rest but landing. Simply because somewhere near final approach I vomited 2 times. I felt really hot as well in the plane. BTW the plane is a robin HR200. I ate an egg and half a sausage for breakfast with water and juice. And also, i'm 12 years old. I forgot what the instructor said about how to prevent this. I'm really keen on flying so i really want to sort this problem out ;)Oh yeah I think it might of been becasue i left my warm jacket on???Any help appreciatedCheers Alexander Michael

Watching the latest "you are an idiot' / 'No, you are a liar' thread got me to thinking, which is always dangerous! What are the realistic requirements and expectations of the 'average' buyer. I know 'average' is a relative term and there is no way to actually quantify that but......Before you reach into your wallet, what do you look for? I never buy anything the day it's released and usually not for at least a few weeks, because I want to hear what issues have developed. I am a product of the "Microsoft Generation, every piece of software ever released is screwed up, wait for the first patch".For me, first and foremost, is the support history of the Developer/Producer. I …

  20. My sister in law must like me- at least she sent me these pics! Simmers may enjoy also.Alex Reid-----------The Russian K7 heavy Bomber designed by Konstantin Kalinin was built in Russia in the 1930's. It flew 11 times before crashing and killing 15 people.Later Stalin had Kalinin executed. Note the 12 engines with props front and rear. And check out the cannons in the first picture. Billy Mitchell would have been impressed!(The people, other aircraft and the truck in these pics suggest that these photos are real- not fakes. A rarity given the Stalin purges of both people and documents! On the other hand, I believe that colour film, although it did exist, was a rarity in th…

  22. IMPORTANT: For some reason my poll isn't visible. Hopefully it will appear soon. I'm awaiting help from Tom! Please be patient.I'm running this poll to establish if spending habits have been affected by the poor exchange rate which has mainly affected UK residents.Over the last year or so the British Pound has suffered more than other currencies and many FS-software titles are now quite expensive compared to a year or so ago. Most software that can be bought online in the UK is now priced in Euros and is now much more expensive than a couple of years ago. Back in November 2007 one Euro cost around 70p. Now it's 90-95p - nearly 35% more expensive. It really brought it home t…

So earlier this evening, I was watching an episode of the SyFy show, Destination Truth, where the crew is investigating reports of Yetis in Nepal. They show the crew landing in a Twotter at Lukla and... yep, you guessed it. inspiration struck. But you see, I don't do anything half-arsed. Some time back, I'd downloaded some freeware scenery for Lukla, and the surrounding area, including mesh, textures, etc. Firing up the Premier Design freeware Twotter, I did a little hop from Kathmandu to Lukla. But wait, there's more! I fired up WinAmp and did a search for Nepal in the Shoutcast thingy. Sure enough, there was one streaming channel purporting to be Nepalese in content. I …

I am not entirely sure if this is the correct forum for this topic but here goes...What careers are available in aviation WITHOUT a commercial pilots license or a license that requires anything other than a Class 3 medical certificate? The reason I exclude Class 2 & 1 is that I do not qualify for either except in Canada and I am looking for careers as a pilot in the United StatesDoes anybody know of any?
