What their plans are I guess remain to be seen, but take a peek...http://www.cascadegamefoundry.com/Not to be a shill, but unlike the Aerosoft announcements of late, this one actually made me sit up a bit... even though it's not any sort of announcement!-Greg

Folks, we have been working all morning to get details on the demise of ACES Studios beyond the rumors flying on the various game sites. That news is starting to roll in. Most of it is non-attributable because of NDA's and slight chances for some members to have continued employment with MS in other studios / home rooms. The picture that is emerging is not pretty. Of the over forty ACES members assigned to MSFS, all but six appear to be immediately impacted. Those six will be left to button up the product, burn master DVDS and then be forced to look for employment within the greater MS. TrainSim is dead. There will be no further releases of this product, according to our …

Can anyone recommend a voice recognition software that will work with Vista? Preferably freeware or open, but payware as well.I was using VAC - Voice Activated Commands, to communicate with my wingmen in IL-2, but the trial expired, so I'm looking for a replacement. I already tried Shoot, but it doesn't seem to work with Vista and the project looks abandoned so no updates can be expected.

I ordered one of UK2000's scenery CDs - I'm old-fashioned and prefer to have a hard copy.I found that my credit card had been debited but I hadn't received the CD. I contacted UK2000 which promptly accepted it must have gone astray in the post and immediatkly sent me a replacement by recorded delivery.I thought it worth flagging up this good service, because there are so many compaints about poor service.

Hello(!),Just thought I'd ask a quick question on here which has come up during my recent "experiences" with flying (in particularly my fear of flying!). Have posted on here before where I explained (and have posted on Flightsim.com too so apologies for anyone reading both) I'm a nervous flier (to say the least!) who's currently trying a few trial flights in a Cessna to try to get over my fear of flying. I realised recently that my fear mainly comes from the fact that I use the ground to judge my airspeed but the ground is so far away that it doesn't move very fast and I feel like I'm hanging in the air at maybe 20mph hence I feel like we're about to stall or already hav…

Got a flyer in email that listed Farm Simulator as the top seller among more usual aviation simulation stuff. I watched a couple of videos. You can drive realistic tractors, and plant stuff, and bale hay, and... well, do farming stuff.I think I'm going to chuck all this airplane junk so I can drive a combine back and forth all day.Seriously, to each his own, but I am having a hard time imagining the fun of TractorSim. Maybe city-dwellers see it as more entertaining, but I live in Illinois. Kind of weird to see it at the top of a list with Aerosoft's Nice and the L39 Albatross occupying 9 and 10.

Today is my birthday - I've received most of my cards from the forums I visit - even here. Thanks to you all. :( Well, I got this greeting from Tom (of Avsim), replied, and thought I'd check the file library, just for the heck of it - it had been on May something for a long time.Low and behold - THE LIBRARY IS BACK - it's all working and updated. Such a wonderful gift!! Thanks to the entire Avsim staff for this. :( :( B) We've all lost a lot this past year or so - it's great to have something of value returned.Cheers,Lou

I thought I should ask here, because the PMDG sub-forum rules clearly state: Why do we need to sign with our full real names? * To avoid piracy? If that were the case, why not sign with order numbers instead of full names?* To avoid forum trolling?Apparently that doesn't work as there's no less bad mouthing there than other Avsim sub-forums. Also, the moderators do seem to have ample time on their hands. Two topics today alone were locked because of non-compliance with the full name rule.* Participation in this forum is up to the end-users, nobody forces them to sign their full names or participate thereMaybe so, but there is no other viable community out there spesific…

Hello there,I have played FSX on a rubbish computer, only with default aircraft, bad scenery, and acheive 15FPS :( Today i went on the sim and said"wow i suck at flying!" And i was flying the beech baron 58 default aircraft. I read alot of book about aviation and hope one day ill be a pilot.. ANYWAY, i know a lot of people love flight simulator and no doubt for sure it must be a hobby, but to me, my little reckless computer is eating up my passion! Im planning to buy an i7 920, GTX 285 build.. Is it worth it? Will i enjoy it? How do you learn to fly in the sim properly?Sorry if this sounds "newbish" But i really want to enjoy the most out of flight simulatorany suggestio…

NO, I am not advocating another hack!!!I just fondly look back on the time after the hack when we had the temporary forum. We were all brought together under troubling times with a common bond. All the posts were friendly and positive. Those days appear to be gone. There is way to much bickering and insults being posted in these fora. I thought this was supposed to be a hobby (acknowledging some have commercial interests). Some of you take this (and yourselves) way to seriously, in my opinion.Anyway, this is something I have been thinking about for a while and just wanted to get it off my chest. Can't we all just get along? This is supposed to be fun and if your idea of fun is …

In your opinion, what would be a good age to initiate a child to simflight? I can't speak from my own experience, since I was first exposed at 22, so many years ago. My 6-year old boy is asking me to let him messing with daddy's cool looking planes. Of course, sharing this hobby with him would be great, but I'm afraid he's too young and I tell him so. I mean, I'd like to introduce him to simflying as seriously as possible, not as a mere game. Thanks in advance.JAMM

I received an odd email today noting that I have not been playing Rise of Flight much lately. They want to know why not.Okay, best possible spin, they are just trying to improve their product and do some market research. But for some reason, it just struck me the wrong way. If you want to know why I haven't played ROF it is because I am up to my ears in some serious mayhem at the moment and have had little time even for my primary flight sim, unfortunately. What's next, "We can't help but notice you always fly for the German side. Perhaps you could explain why." Or, "Your shooting is abysmal and you're lucky to even take off without crashing. Would you be interested …

I am planning on doing an around the world trip soon in Flight Simulator X, and plan on using a Mooney Bravo M20, mainly because it is a single engine, complex airplane, with retractable gear and a variable pitch 3 blade prop, which is pretty good. I would have gone in a 172 but the speed of it is a big let down for the distance it will take, unless I want to spend a very long time, and a 2 blade fixed pitch prop isn't going to help with power and manifold pressure. Hopefully its going to be a lot of fun, and I will be using Tileproxy so I can get real scenery, instead of generic repeating landclass tiles. Boy I can't wait till I reach Alaska! :( Now to the point :(, does…
