It's hard to think about much else when so many are on the edge of death in Haiti, stiil alive but still buried, as today, any hour now, must bring rescue or all is lost. My thoughts and prayers are with the broken and their families. Please give out of your excess for those who will carry on.Stephen

http://www.upi.com/Odd_News/2010/01/12/Com...78/?usesarctagsApparently, a company has decided to start selling a program which allows for you to place a punctuation mark for sarcasm. All I have to say is: this won't come in handy at all, I won't even bother looking in to it. /sarcasmSeriously though, this may come in handy for certain forum debates where it may boil down to sarcasm.I will say this though, 1.99 for a punctuation mark is ridiculous. I think I'm more likely to wait for it to become standard issue.

Just wondering who out there would pay to fly a 737 simulator w/ actual cockpit? Not a motion one just one with actual cockpit and overhead? What would it be worth? 35 an hour? Just wondering. I think there possibly could be a market for this with all the Sim lovers out there.

My apologize but I feel a general rant is in order, no names or specifics of course. But, in this day and age of technology, access to existing delivery venues and other related computer wizardry... why on Earth does a developer, who has the time, tools and talent to create a wonderful add on for a SIM, cannot take an extra step or two to make delivery and activation of the product that you just paid good money for easy? Why?Why must it still involve a transfer of payment, access to the download itself, then an instillation (with poorly worded instructions mind you) a SIM start up so your machine binding software can "retrieve a machine specific license #" which then must b…

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, I'm not sure if this is the right place because its for FSX, and FS9...I have always been looking for a utility that I can use to find weather, look at airpace info, look at VORs, NDBs, VFR Planning, vetc. all in one map, almost like VFR maps, but instead of it being on a big piece of paper, its on a map. The other day I saw this utility on the Tileproxy forum, posted by another member and I wanted to spread the word and introduce more people to it. The utility is called Plan-G and can be found here: http://www.tasoftware.co.uk/ and its freeware, which is AMAZING. We should have more developers like this for FS. The utility is also for FS9…

I have looked @ US weather charts, all flight @ FL370 will get an avarage of -49C to -53C. So how is the MD-11 JET A, able to fly in those temperatures? My fuel lines keep freezing, and I watch real life flight just take place, and it flew @ avarage of -53C FL370.Ideas?My PMDG MD-11 Fuel keeps freezing, because of low temperature.

OK, the controller in me HATES the idea of pilot's being able to see their own traffic, and make up their own minds, in an IFR environment. (I can feel the heat from the flames coming already. lol) HOWEVER, VFR pilots do this already anyway.BUT, I can also see how it would be good for the pilot to better understand what is going on.What do you all think?http://news.cnet.com/2300-11386_3-10001896-1.html?tag=mncol

As you may now, I love aviation a lot and am now I flight sim addict :(, learning various things when I can through the library and internet. I'm highly considering become a pilot (possibly cargo) and after high school, I want to go straight to a flight school to earn my PPL. I have heard that you can get your PPL at your own pace, for example if you are a fast learner and you have probably studied, or knew a lot about aviation before, there is a chance you can get your PPL in 20-30 days (since you need 45 hours), and some people that need to learn at their own pace (I wont call them slow :() may take 6 months. Now, do you think the best thing to do is to go to a flight s…

I have been concerned for some time that perhaps the MSFS community may be shrinking more rapidly that I first realized. I have far too much time treasure and emotion tied up in this wonderful hobby to let it dry up without a fight. However, I understand that it is fairly obvious that the shutting down of Aces was critical, as either a prime catalyst, or as a direct result, of the decline, or both. It seems to me that fewer and fewer new people are joining online communities like AVSIM while more and more members are dropping out without saying goodbye. I guess this is natural as MS has ceased to market the title to the general public. Also obvious is that FS addon develo…

With most of the flightplanners I can find, any route from europe to the caribbean takes me to a point off the American coast and then south to the Carribean, making the trip around 1000 nm longer than a straight flight. Is this really how these kind of flights operate? Are there waypoints in the mid-Atlantic to use instead of only using NAT's?thanks

I usually not a fan of toolbars, but I put this one together for my hobby...Flight Sim and the Flight Sim community. Hundreds and hundreds of useful flight sim web sites are just a click or two away. Users can customize the content that shows on the toolbar. I'm adding new links every day, so if you have a suggestion let me know. Avsim has its own menu, and can be expanded too. It's free and I guarantee no spam or anything like that, otherwise I wouldn't use it everyday. If you like it tell others and if you don't it is an easy uninstall if it is not for you. Check the screen shots on my Facebook page page (no need to be a FB member). Or check the Download preview.J…
