This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar.  Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here.  Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, climate change, COVID etc.  Topics that elicit or are deemed by staff likely to elicit heated argument, contention, or otherwise objectionable banter will be removed from view.  We allow some latitude, but please remember that, first and foremost, this is a flight-simulator oriented site frequented by people from all walks of life.

  2. Dang, there's a lot of stuff to keep on track!I think I need to add the words "reset timer" between checkpoints. Also landed after sunset... Once the daytime visuals you're used to seeing and using disappear, well.. that's a whole different thing right there. And - as a bonus - learned the 20/20 heading trick. Just sayin'.

Hey allI recently got a ppl and a taidragger endorsement. I will be starting complex engine training this weekend in a piper arrow. My ultimate goal is to become an aerobatic pilot.I have been toying with the idea of buying an aircraft, and was wondering what present plane owners think about it, is it worth it, any regrets, etc...I have always said "if it floats or flies, it's cheaper to rent than to buy." Which is true, but It's not easy to even find a SuperDecathlon(my planned purchase) to rent, I live in Tampa FL, and there are no flight schools in the area that even have one(I have to go to Orlando or Miami). The whole process seems a little daunting as there are in…

I don't normally rant regarding sports, especially soccer, but what just transpired with the call against the US and the loss of a score is outrageous! Three obvious fouls occurring simultaneously by the Slovenians against the US, and the US is denied the goal is too much. That ref is either incompetent or corrupt. The US was denied a clear victory over Slovenia and had to accept a tie. If this is not rectified, FIFA should be embarrassed and once again will show how incompetent a group it is.

This is a site I found, that has a wealth of information on procedures, and technical data for a wide variety of aircraft, including most airliners. So for those who don't already know about it , here's the link!http://www.smartcockpit.com/

I'm an engineering student at a local university, and for one of my summer classes I was assigned a project to analyze some design with bearings in it. Being an aviation fan, I decided to do the bearings in the main gear of a 757. However, I'm having trouble tracking down technical specs on that. Is there somewhere that has drawings/specs/detailed tech info on the main gear assembly of a 757?I've been looking through Boeing's site and Googling like crazy, but I've come up empty so far.

I know this isn't directly related to aviation, but since I did offer this program a while back as a way to build custom VA logos, please humor me.A couple of years ago I released a program called "Spirapaint", mostly as an educational tool but also for us nostalgia buffs who remember the days of the good old fashioned Spirograph. From time to time I google my title just to see where it's cropping up. I found it at this link:http://spira-paint.softwareandgames.com/These clowns have been charging people $1.50 per download even though my license clearly states that the product cannot be sold for profit or for non-profit.My question, since I don't have deep pockets--how do I…

I spent most of my life in Napa, I lived there from 1967 until the early 90's. The first GA flight I ever took, and the first aircraft I ever flew, were both out of its airport. It started as a military field and grew to a rather busy GA field (although it had airline service at one point). Today it handles GA of all types as well as private jets all the way up to the Boeing BBJ and MD-80.A big player at Napa was IASCO, an academy used by Japan Airlines to train its pilots. IASCO has been part of Napa since the 70's. Its pilots were housed in a complex in North Napa, and it was not unusual to run into them while shopping nearby. They were incredibly polite and curio…

EDIT: Didn't know a topic was already started on this but since I already posted/uploaded might as well get some more feedback, here's mine:I didn't like losing Northwest to an over bloated modified Delta now Continental/United are trying to merge. There's something to be said about having these too big to fail monstrosities forming. I hope this time around this doesn't go through and another way is found for the airlines to manage costs... This new proposed union wants to absorb USAirways as well after their merger deals are over. It's almost like an ego somewhere can't deal with what Delta has done... Concerning the world of FS, WOAI hasn't caught up with the last m…
