Hi all,Just thought I'd post a link to a gallery instead of trying to load up a bunch of photos here.Long story short: N14 > NAGGS > MAZIE > KABE, Warrior II. First time solo in a Warrior. About 2 hrs. remain in my training (will be my solo long x/c to OXB Ocean City, MD) before I'm technically eligible for a checkride, but I do plan on 1) practicing more in the DA-20, which is my "main" trainer, and 2) studying and possibly taking my written first. Quick note: I was stunned to see an actual quarry where one showed up in FSX + Tileproxy. I mean, holy cow. I thought it was some terrain error, but there it was! I quickly snapped a picture after the amazement wore o…

FA grabs beer from galley and exits aircraft via emergency slide.http://www.clickondetroit.com/travelgetaways/24569930/detail.htmlIt may be old news but I just read this today. Of course, I wouldn't want to encourage such behavior but you have to credit him for making a grand exit.

Quick question. Not sure if you guys would know the answer to this, but I just passed through the security checkpoint, and I was told by the TSA that they were going to run tests on my laptop. My question is, what tests were they running exactly.

This may not be the best forum to post this question in, but I can't find a more appropriate one....I'm having a problem downloading .zip files at Avsim. I just upgraded my computer and am now running Windows 7 and IE8. Everytime I download a file, instead of asking where I would like to save it, a new folder is created in my Content.IE5 folder with all of the files already extracted. This is really annoying because I now have to create a new folder where I download my temporary files and copy and past these files into it. I used to be able to simply save the .zip file to the temporary files folder. For whatever reason things still work at Flightsim.com but everyothe…

First of all I'd like say that's the new look of the forum is absolutely great! Very fresh for the eyes and also very clean and organized. Just fantastic!Well, my intention with this post is to put all the informations that all of you have about different aircrafts during the taxi phase. This subject is a very tricky thing on flight simming and most aircraft cannot reproduce fairly the real life aircraft behave as most people says. What you know about, let's say, the 737 or A320 in the taxi phase? Does it taxi in idle like people say? The pilot just need to give a little bit of thrust to take it out of inercia and the idle thrust is enough to keep the taxi speed? Anyway, …

For anyone who is familiar with central London, I thought I'd ask this question. I'm going to be stuck in a hotel there most of the coming week, but I will be working in the city centre up until about 4.30pm, so that'll be four evenings bored to death in a hotel if I can't find something more engaging to do. Any suggestions for good stuff to do in the evenings slap bang in the middle of London?Al

At the risk of reopening the worm-can, I've two technical questions for anyone who can reduce my ignorance, and particularly for DC_Ed and Chock (who know a bit about the subject) brought to mind by reading another thread here...I don't fly (except in FS9 and FU3), but work in industrial electronics and am curious about all things radio & RFI.How does a coastline distort VOR signals? How does the NDB/busy-thundercloud thing work?Cheers chaps,D

We have been pretty lax over the last 8 months or so in two areas related to image posting on the AVSIM forums. We have found hundreds of files that exceed our 200K file size limit. We have had some images posted as large as 800K - 900K in size. We have also allowed images to stay on the system much longer than our policy of 12 to 15 days. Those two things have changed as of the opening of the new forums. We will be doing periodic monitoring of image sizes. If an image posted is over 200K in size, it will be immediately erased from the system. If an image is older than 15 days, that too will be removed. Please abide by our size restriction, or you will find your post with…

Hello everyone,I've been watching a bunch of videos of Boeing 777s landing and taking off. What is the high-pitched whirring noise that starts during the takeoff roll, ceases during climbout, starts again during approach, and, most interestingly, starts up again immediately before touchdown?I thought it may have been the flaps motor, but that is a much deeper sound. It's not much different from an Airbus A32X PTU sound, in my opinion. Thanks in advance! :)

Maybe this belongs in the another place but I noticed now we have reputations on our profiles.Nobody told me that I have to be reputable! :( What next, good behaviour and reasonable and well thought out contributions to converstions? What is this place coming to? :( Regards(the neutrally reputed) Alex

However what reason's legal or otherwise would a company like Gulfstream have to demand such action......not trying to be rude just as a pre 1L law student I find it rather interesting that they have such heavy handed legal decrees with the Flight Sim Community....Thanks!! :(

1) My birthday2) The fifth anniversary of my first discovery flight from Toronto City Centre airport.3) My first RW solo flight!Yes, I just finished my first solo flight in a C-172 at CNQ3.I'm now very drunk on gin, so I'll keep this short. My wife surprised me five years ago with an introductory flight from CYTZ around the CN Tower. Honestly, it was fun, but I thought that would be the end of it--just a one-time fun experience like sky-jumping, or glow-in-the-dark bowling at midnight. However, the day after I took that that discovery flight, I picked up a copy of FS2004, just for the heck of it.I have flight simulation to thank for sustaining my interest in general aviatio…

Hello,My wife and I are getting new phones this weekend. I have a 4 year old Treo 650 and I have not had a data package on it for a few years. I intend to have one on the new phone. My wife has a 4 year old pink Razr. She wants a "big girl phone" now that she has started a job as a attorney for the Federal Government.I want to sync email and calendar with Outlook 2003 (can do 2007 but would rather stick with 2003).She will do the same but she usually uses webmail (AT&T/Yahoo and Comcast). She can't sync with her government issued laptop. I'm going to try to get her over to Outlook but my guess is that she won't use it because her calendar will be on her work laptop.App…

I like to simulate stuff in FSX as much as realistically as I possibly can, without having to quit my day job..but how would a person go about opening there own little charter service? say in the PNW area?I'm just guessing here but:I go out and buy or finance an airplane... say a C185?then I would have to find an airport to base my operation out of ?then hang my shingle and advertise? or ??I know there is FAA and red tape a mile long but other then all of that... the above sounds way to simple..thanksBrian S
