http://www.aero-news.net/index.cfm?Content...gory=/index.cfmI'm so honored to know this is all happening to close to me. What makes this story even better is next weekend, I'm going to have the chance to see the new 'rover' vehicle that will transport humans over the surface of these places once we land on them. I have to wonder, though, does anyone know how one eventually gives flight training for the first pilots who would do this? Using a 727 for basics is one thing, learning how to operate an aircraft actually flying around in that type of environment is completely another!

I watch this and a few other forums and I have to say, I don't ever remember a time when so many people complained about so many things, most of which are a result of THEM not doing their own research. I have dozens of addons installed and each and every one of them has some small thing wrong with it, but DARN, there is so much right it's a waste of time to spend my time complaining when I could be flying! Developers provide info on their websites, forums with user feedback, manuals, email support, etc, yet it seems that public whinning is now the norm. Maybe I'm just getting older and noticing it more, or maybe it's the 'me generation' just becomming more prolific. Is it …

You know, when we load up are aircraft with passengers and fuel all the loaders, even the default one has some sort of a gauge with tick marks and a balance point that moves forward and back depending on where the weight is located at.I doubt real pilots have this sort of thing available do they?I was wondering if you could get an actual W&B worksheet that has all the moments and arms (is that correct?) and then list all your weights and work them out like a real pilot does instead of looking at some gimmicky gauge that is not realistic at all...?I have a feeling this is outside the scope of a pc desktop flight simulation program, but just wondering if it could be don…

Based on the other forum polls it's been suggested we put everything in one poll and see what people use mostly in the community these days. I still would like to know the ratio of dual users versus single sim users. I believe I have my answer based on the other polls which is 20% but many believe those results were skewed..

You have probably noticed David's absence from our forums. A month ago, his eldest son passed away from a rare form of leukemia at the age of only 21.Here is an excerpt of the email he has just sent me : "I'll try to come back to Avsim soon to take my mind off things. Virtual or not, I'm very fond of our little community"Let us hope it will be soon.

Copied from the FS- FREEflow's website:------Ian Thatcher, (Thatch), died on Saturday 28/08/2010. Ian was the founder of FS-Shipyards, and a former supporter of both The ODG Project and FREEflow. Ian Thatcher was an extremely prolific developer of flight-sim content, across nearly all aspects of the platform. To such an extent that most simmers who download, possibly have at least one of his products installed, yet are unaware, as he'd published them under a series of assumed identities. e.g. As Gerrish Gray - Various tree enhancement packages As Andy Weir - Various terrain-meshes and landclass packages. Over the years Ian has supplied hosting to many developers and group…

I just saw that Martin Schweiger has released a 2010 version of the Orbiter Space Simulator. I had used this several years ago to learn quite a bit about astrophysics etc. and was hoping a new version would be released some day. If you havent heard of it before check it out. It's not an easy thing to figure out and takes a few days just to get everything installed that you want (there are a lot of add ons) and to learn what to do. http://orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/home.php

http://www.aero-news.net/index.cfm?ContentBlockID=0a4d5044-012b-4766-8e3f-29b21f7bd093&I knew about Montana a lil earlier than this article when ASB was talking about them losing their new F-15s. Kinda sucks, but nice to know the state is getting some relatively new aircraft in some way.

Just read Southwest Airlines is to acquired Airtran. Another merge offering less competition in the air. Some may think this is a good idea (I actually like Southwest) but creating companies that are too big to fail is never a good thing. Southwest even with this merger may not qualify as 'Too Big to Fail' but just the same Airtran going away like Midwest Airlines offers less options. Speaking of Midwest it was one of the US's highest rated airlines.I was proposing with iFly and Feelthere the proposition of possibly doing a 717 for FSX/FS9. Now that Airtran is going away it's unlikely Southwest will keep those birds around. With only Hawaiian Airlines still flying the…

Hello everyone. I will keep this short and sweet. I have been continuously working on preperations for the most ultimate realistic Coast Guard Virtual Organization for some time. All the pieces are coming together. I have not brought this public at all. This is the post I have been looking forward to for a long time now. I am ready to bring this idea public for the sole purpose of finding two right hand men or women proficient with the HH-60 Jayhawk and a desire for the most ultimate realistic Virtual Coast Guard operations (Organization) Ever. As any good leader knows, he (I) cannot and will not be able to reach my mission, vision and goals by myself. As of right…

This did not get too much publicity, I read that the VSS Enterprise, the space faring portion of the commercial space project by Richard Branson, had its first free flight from the mothership on October 10th. I feel commercial manned flight is going to really "take off" (pardon the pun) over the next ten years and I suspect will bring about safer travel into space.Regards,John

Hey guys,Thanks to LatinVFR's Sucre scenery, I became interested in Bolivia. Not only do they have this fantastic little airport with a reeally fun approach (or so it seems), they also have one of the few airlines that still use the Boeing 737-200 and Boeing 727-200 for hauling passengers. So, happy with this finding, I installed the Tinmouse II and did a panel merge with the Aerosim 737-200 (If anybody would want to have it, I can provide, although you ought to know it's not perfect). I even did a quick repaint of the airline in question, Aerosur, for the Aerosim 737-200 which is almost finished. Anyway, to come to the point now.I have a problem with the Tinmouse panel. …
