I was wanting to take a walk down memory lane tonight (it's Christmas after all!) and install FS98 if only for a feeling of nostalgia. FS98 is, after all, the simulator that got me hooked on aviation! So is there any way to get FS98 working with W7 and my hardware or will I have to find a dinosaur to install to? I know there are others in this forum that understand the reasons to my query! :(

The captain of Ryanair flight FR1397, Stephen McNamara, has submitted a report to the aviation authorities of a unidentified flying object that was spotted on 22/12/2010.A shocking photo has been released that was taken by a passenger on the flight 200km south of Oslo. The official news bulletin can be found here: http://www.ryanair.com/en/news/ryanair-reports-ufo-to-aviation-autoritiesDoes this finally answer the big question?Merry Christmas everyone!

I think any real pilots on this board, or potential pilots, should be aware of what's going on in the aviation community regarding Flight Prep. It's causing quite a stir on many pilot forums around the internet, so I figured I'd also spread the word here...Basically, Flight Prep was awarded a patent claiming they invented online flight planning. They have filed a lawsuit against one site (RunwayFinder), and have approached others such as AOPA, FlightAware, flplan.com, etc. Several free sites have already shut down over this. Some of these tools like RunwayFinder were probably very useful to sim pilots as well, as you could see real IFR and VFR charts online for free. …

Well it seems the -8 is only around the corner now. Boeing have published a great video showing some aspects of the flight testing procedures that it adheres to:http://www.boeing.com/Features/2010/12/bca_748-8_test_12_15_10.html

  9. I think we flightsimmers bang our planes in way to hard in the sim.We have no way of really knowing of how hard the landing really is/was.I had a real world flight one time from KATL to KDEN and I mean we hit hard with a bang! now, what I'm curious is, what was fpm at that moment? 300 or -500? or more?what is conisdered an average landing rate (in fpm) that would be somewhat "normal" in the real world, where you can def. feel it but but not where it bangs?I can bring in my GA stuff in usually at under -100 fpm, but sometimes I get sloppy and drop it at -350 or more... thanksBrian S

Bloomberg News reports this morning-"Boeing Co. said it will boost the production rate of its 777s for the second time this year as the planemaker struggles with delays on the 787 Dreamliner. Production for the 777s will increase to 8.3 aircraft per month in the first quarter of 2013, the Chicago-based company said today in a statement. In March, Boeing announced it would increase production to seven planes from five per month starting in mid-2011. Boeing is increasing production for the twin-aisle aircraft as carriers seek to expand and refresh their fleets. Production increases for the 777 and the single-aisle 737 contrast with Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner, which has been de…

Hi Folks,I found this real nice topic: http://www.bild.de/BILD/news/2010/12/10/winter-chaos-schnee-deutschland/warum-kriegen-wir-es-nicht-in-den-griff.htmlWhat you see is a cabin crew member, who clears part of the outer cockpit off snow in Dresden, Germany. What may have happen first when she opend the window? Snow is falling inward the cockpit, wetting the floor and more. So, what happens if this melted snow faults any gauges or fuses or alike?I realy wonder if she was allowed to do such snow cleaning ... the airport may have been closed or a ice-cleaning truck or shower portal may be active for preparing aircrafts...Is it allowed for cabin crew to do so? What may happen…

  14. Hi, I love watching the docu clips of "National Geographic mayday Alarm within the Cockpit".Right now I am watching the Egypt Air 990 crash docu. What I see is a different cockpit than any B767-300 has! I see a engineers panel with gauges a B767 does not have! Why does NG produce such video documetations with wrong cockpits?

Today on the way home from work I was reflecting on one of the things I like about living in a big city. Lots of things I don't like--traffic, smog, noise, etc.... But living in a big city is an opportunity to see aviation up close. I saw my first Eclipse jet the other day. I was quite curious about the VLJ concept when it came into focus, and I was quite amazed to see how quiet an Eclipse is when in the pattern. I heard somewhat of a "whoosh", looked overhead, and there it was on its downwind leg. I could not even hear it as it turned base....Today I saw a Gulfstream turning to final while I was driving home from the office, and was quite surprised at how tight the…

Can anyone tell me why the quest kodiac aircraft I purchased from simmarket does not work properly on windows 7. When I start fsx and load the newly installed kodiac ,although The initial screen showing the 2d & 3d cockpit looks fine if I open up an external view or look out the window fron the cockpit vioews, the aircraft is missing 80-90% of the planes looks ( the paint textures. It looks weird with just a moving prop and seats and wheels , with no wings tail etc. My machine is quite high spec so dont think thats the problem, as all the other a/c work fine. Have chose this plane for its g1000 capabilities. Would love to know what I can do to make it right. Jk

More and more, employers are looking to the Internet to profile candidates for open positions as well as looking at the behavior of existing employees. Social networking sites are a good example--no employer wants to keep an employee around that is loose with what they say or do. Our forums are another example--in the past, we used to get into some pretty strong battles here in these forums and "get away with it". Now it seems the world is changing fast and there's consequences for what we do and say online. Not only does this apply to adults, it also applies to children as well. I've never been the victim of that, but I know the day is coming for the next generation…
