Hi everyone,Even though we are all battlening with our own problems they are overshadowed by the big one. In my modest 25 years of life I've never been as speechless as when I saw pictures from Japan. It is trully horrific. I have no words for it. Let's all have a moments of silence for the country who is in the deepest hour and to those who have laid their lives and to those who are helping the victims. And lets not forget those who are trying their best to stop the nuclear powerplant from meltdown. I didn't know where to put this, but I just felt like it needed to come out....ThanksMartin from Copenhagen

A few moments ago while peeking at ESPN.com in order to read a bit on the basketball tournaments, on multiple monitors I suddenly got a display from "System Tool 2011" telling me I had all kinds of trojans, viruses, and other stuff that smells bad was on my computer and the only way to get rid of them was to purchase their program. It took complete control of my computer and nothing I could do let me regain access of other programs, or have control of the computer any longer. Internet access through my browser was also blocked as well as Windows Task Mgr. I also could find no way to close System Tool. Thanks to a google search on another computer, I found multiple posts re…

Don't know if this is the right forum to make this post, but my problem really is not hardware (I think), and I do not see a specific forum for software or the like.I am running two computers (specs. below) implementing FSC80, PFE/Proflight2000, FSM, ASE, and FDC on the secondary computer through either wideclient for FS9, and/or SimConnect for FSX.No problem on my primary computer (Win XP Pro 64bit).Ignoring FlightSim (not having run related programs) for all other programs like MSOffice, and several resource programs there is no problem on the secondary computer and bootup time is less than a minute for a restart, and only a few seconds after the welcome screen displays…

I know there are many fans of the Quest Kodiak, and just wanted to show you guys what I saw on the ramp (KMHT - Hemet, CA) as I was getting ready for a flight lesson yesterday. This Kodiak is literally brand new. Not a mark on her. Not a single insect mark or any sign of use. A gorgeous plane up close. This one is set up as a seven seat executive, as I was told. Serial #25. When I was preflighting my C162, there was also a Cessna Mustang spooling up, taxi and took off. I have to tell you all, that Mustang was just fantastic. The sound was just incredible. Just hearing those engines, and seeing that Mustang in action so close was a bit of an emotional experience. :( Cr…

Am i the only one that just loves this show and ready to move to Alaska???StorylineFollows the unconventional Tweto family that rules Alaska's most dangerous skies. Operating their family-run airline, Era Alaska, they battle unforgiving Alaska weather and terrain to transport life's necessities to one of the most remote and extreme regions of America. With no freeway system for hundreds of miles, Era Alaska is the lifeline for the isolated rural inhabitants of the Bering Sea coastline. From champion snow dogs bound for the Iditarod to medicine for sick children to groceries for miners working on an operation on the North Slope, the goods that the intrepid pilots ship on a…

Hi guys,As you know, a few days ago we were able to use the new Avsim website. For some reason, the new website was turned in to the old website. When I first saw the new website, I wasn't really dissapointed of what I saw, it looked good and simple. When I finally went to the library, I was dissapointed. It looked good, but I had a lot of trouble finding what I was searching for. When I started to use the new website, I noticed that many things were changed. Some of the things had become better, but a lot of other things were not prefered by the users. The old, dynamic Avsim was gone, the headlines were not the same and the traditional 'Actions on the Apron' were changed…

  14. Does anyone happen to know if the real world CJ1+ utilizes an auto-throttle? I frequently fly the Eaglesoft CJ1+ in FSX and I use the auto-throttle function (IAS) on my Saitek multi-panel to control the speed of the aircraft during cruise mode. But in the interest of being as realistic as possible, I've been researching if the actual CJ1+ has an auto-throttle in order to fly the simulated version accordingly.I believe the real world Citation X does have an auto-throttle (although the version by Eaglesoft does not) but I haven't been able to find anything re: this particular issue with the CJ1+, even at the Cessna Aircraft Co. website. Thanks for any information.

Hi!I just had a quick question regarding engine cooling. As you know, the intakes on each side of the propellor (for reciprocating-engine aircraft) are for the engine air intakes. Case in point: Cessna 152 nose and cowling http://www.airplanemart.com/aircraft-history-and-specification/photo/lg/Cessna-152-Single-Engine-High-Wing-Airplane-N49419.jpgI was just wondering: once the cold, clean outside air enters the intakes and cools the cylinders, where does the now-hot, dirty air go? As you can see, the aircraft has no visible outlet for the air to go. Does it go to the oil cooler? Does the air exit through the cowl flaps (in aircraft that are equipped with cowl flaps)? Is …

Hi Folks, I am new to Flight Simulators other than MSFS and thought I would try some demo versions before diving in. So - I downloaded Wings of War Demo Version. But every time I try to install it it says I need DirectX 9b. I have 9c and am told NEVER to install an earlier version to what you have. I have turned off all virus protection and switched off all non-vital programs but nothing changes. Can anyone help? Thank you. IPW

Hey guys,Seems like DCS: A-10C has been released. I was wondering if anybody bought it and can share opinions. I have been a long time fan of the A-10A, mainly thanks to combat flight sims like A-10 Cuba and A-10 Attack which I played when I was a kid (and would have still played if I could run it on my computer, but new OS means old software doesn't run anymore. Virtualization isn't much of an option either...). For all I know, DCS A-10C looks like a terrific sim. The detail of the systems is enormous, a good training module is available and the graphics look great; looks like it can't lose! Still, the price is 60 dollars. For 60 dollars, I do not wish to take a gamble. …

Okay. I was teaching a ground class the other day at the flight school, and was amazed at the ignorance to a well known (I thought) aerodynamic/weight & balance related phenomenon. The fact basically that as you move CG aft the datum, cruise speed increases and "mileage" increases. The opposite is true when CG is moved forward the datum.Got me to thinking about TESTING this observable occurrence in the sim(s). As of now I'm with out an FS system while waiting on the parts to my new one, so I can't test (this laptop isn't going to cut it). Next week I plan on doing some long cross countries in smaller aircraft with varying CGs and constant weather. I doubt that M…

hello, I am pleased to announce the opening of avialogs.com. This is a non commercial project aimed to build a repository of flight manuals/pilot's notes/operating manuals/aviation related documents. All documents are pdf (without restrictions) and free. This is the first version of the site, so a lot of things will evolve during the next weeks (interface will be reviewed). There are right now 232 documents for 174 types of aircrafts from ultra lights to Boeing, Airbus, Antonov ... additions are made each day. Benoit

Hey all!I just had one quick question: why does the U-2 Dragon Lady have a yoke? From what I've read, to keep the plane level at FL700 you only need small, light control inputs. The SR-71 flew higher and faster, and it had a stick! is there a particular reason they chose a yoke? Aesthetics? Ease of maintenance? Is it because yokes provide a large control surface travel for fine control inputs?
