Just for your info,Boeing's new 747-8F will be visiting Boston on Saturday for some flight test work. Times are uncertain but if all goes well, we should see some action between noon and 4pm. Indications are that we may see approaches with go-arounds on several runways and then a landing. No guarantees but should be a nice catch for anyone inclined to go spotting that day if it happens.

Hi everyone.Just thought it would be really interesting to see what setups you guys are using for simming on. Whether you have a full scale replica of a real cockpit with multiple monitors and force feedback controls or an ancient PC with 15" CRT screen it'll be fun to see where you do your simming.I'll start the ball rolling with my PC and hopefully others will join in and post some more photos of their computers. (Sorry about the fuzzy pictures btw but I had to use a phone camera)

Look at this ILS chart please:http://aeronav.faa.gov/d-tpp/1011/00330IL10L.PDFIs it possible to fly this approach own navigation or full procedure? I don't see any IAF's, so I figured one has to be vectored for it.But, could you fly the BTG R234 and then join the localizer? Is that valid?

From my calculations, 1920x1080 on a 40'' LCD equals (in terms of dot pitch) to a measly 640x480 on a 17'' CRT. So I was wondering, how's the perceived resolution and image quality of FS on a 40''+ full HD screen?Marco

So, I had my first flight today. Diamond Katana DV20. I traveled with jets before of course, many times actually, but being in the aircraft in the cockpit beats everything by a long shot!I have never been in a small aircraft, and this was my first time that I actually did the same thing as at home but this time the cockpit moved :Big Grin:One thing I must say:A W E S O M E!!!!!!!!!!!!This was by far the best experience I ever had! I flew with a friend of mine, who is Lufthansa/Eurowings FO flying on BAE 146. Sadly, my stomach didn't want to play along for the 2 hour flight, but apart from that, I enjoyed like never in my life!If some of you know Vienna airspace, we did a…

Hi all,Well after being an addict of Flight Simulator since FS98, I have taken the plunge to obtain my wings (PPL).I've got about 3 possible airfields where I can learn to fly so I'm testing each one at the moment.I decided to take an introductory flight at the closest airfield to me.The instructor was in his 50's and was ex RAF... he asked me if I had ever flown before and I told him "No, but I have used Flight Simulators for quite a while so I know what some of the instruments mean, certain parts of the plane" ..... he then quickly responded with "oh you won't learn anything on those....." .... I then told him "just because I've used Flight Simulator for quite a while …

I'm sure this thread is as old as the sim itself, but here I go anyway.I made the leap back in June to fly an aircraft for real at my local airport, Leeds Bradford, flying a Robin 200. I couldn't be happier.Since then I've had my first full lesson on the 2nd October this year, and I can feel an addiction kicking in. Honestly.I'll say the 4 years experience I've had in the sim definitely pays off. I picked up the basics of flight pretty much instantly. It was almost a case of moving a real world joystick instead of a desktop one. Of course, the experience in a real aircraft cannot e compared to the sim. However, one of my big questions has been answered : "Can sim experienc…

Hello guys. I've noticed that when it comes to VATSIM, helicopters are in few numbers. I'd like to change that by getting together an organized community of helicopter enthusiasts who actively use VATSIM (A VA in other words, and yes I'm aware that there is already one), but first it was suggested that I see the interest levels. So I have just a couple questions for you FS enthusiasts:#1. Would you join a helicopter-based Virtual Airline? If you wouldn't, why? Would a new approach to a heli VA change your mind?#2. What kind of helicopter opperation would you like to see in a newly started VA? Transportation of cargo? Military? Scenic or taxi flugs?#3. What leve…
