Hey all,There is the possibility of me going off to flight school next year, with the aim of recieving either an A319 type raiting to work for Easyjet. My question is, will the type rating be valid for all types (A318, A319, A320, A321) or will it be specifically for the A319.I understand that pilots go through "Difference training" between the types, but I want to know what the actual type rating is valid for. Many thanks!

This was posted on the Project Opensky website by Andrew J McKeown: I had my beginnings on the POSKY forums. They were, and still are, the best freeware flight sim group around. I will continue to support whoever/whatever comes out of this!

Recently the community has had the fortune to get a number of TOTALLY FREE utilities either just released, or receiving major upgrades. No doubt there are more out there, but these are ones I've found very useful. I would like to thank the developers of these utilities for the time and effort that goes into them. I'm amazed at some of the obvious work that has gone into the UI and documentation for these, as well as their utility. This has just been in the past couple of weeks!fsx.cfg tweaking tool -- ******* AltuveStatic Aircraft Model Maker, AI Flight Planner v2 -- Don GrovestinePlan-G v2 -- Tim ArnotThanks again for these utilities.scott s..

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20101118/ap_on_bi_ge/superjumbo_woes_22I thought I'd post the link instead of paraphrasing. It is rather scary what those pilots went through, but at the same time, it just goes to show that for such a massive and advanced aircraft, when things go wrong, only the cream of the crop can safely bring her back home.Jim

"Airline CEOs would want nothing more than to take their airlines, "flag" them in a 2nd or 3rd world nation, and hire foreign nationals from those countries (and others) to fly, operate, and maintain their airplanes. Certainly an Indonesian pilot could live on $20,000 a year......and probably less! Why pay a U.S. flight attendant $30,000/year when a Lithuanian flight attendant will work for $10,000/year? Why pay a U.S. A&P mechanic $60,000 a year when a Chinese one will work for $25,000 a year! See where I'm going with this?"http://thetruthabouttheprofession.weebly.com/

On Youtube there is a video of a father letting his 6 year old at the controls of a Beaver DHC2 flying up in Alaska (He say's for most of the flight!)! I know it's ok for a Non-pilot to be at the controls of an aircraft, provided another licensed pilot is in a position to take the controls if needed. The thing is this Beaver only had a single Yoke, that could be moved between the pilot, and co-pilot seat. The kid was in the co-pilot seat with the yoke. So my question is, does this satisfy the FAA requirement, since he doesn't have dual control?BTW, it looked like the kid was doing pretty good at it!

Another unfortunate setback...http://www.cnn.com/2010/TRAVEL/11/10/boeing.dreamliner.test/index.html?hpt=T2I may be wrong in thinking this but maybe if all the parts were built in one place things may be faring better now for the 787. Having so many different pieces/parts spread out among so many different nations (and safety standards) seems to be the overriding achilles heel for this project. Once it's finally put together there's been more setbacks than other Boeing efforts in recent memory (please correct me if I'm wrong as I've seen many cancellations for orders of the 787 because of deadlines missed).

Those of you with an Android powered smartphone might be interested in knowing that FSWidgets has released an Android version of GMap to compliment there iPhone and iPad mobile device versions. I wrote a fun little review of it HERE for those of you that can manage to navigate your way through my poor writing skills. Or you can visit the FSWidgets website for more info. As someone who definitely knows his smartphones, and not much else, I was excited to see FSWidgets expand their line of GMap apps to Android and look forward to what's next.

Hey guys, I'm working on a project and I've been trying to figure out where to find the voice warning unit system sounds for various fighter and attack aircraft (primairly the F-16). Does anyone know of a good place to find these, the results whenever I Google this usually turn up black box recordings from crashes, which aren't very helpful. I did find one result for the F-16 from f16.net, however because it was a sample from Falcon 4.0, I'd rather avoid legal issues. Thanks,Peter

Hello to everyone. We have developed an Aviation application for the Android Market. We are looking for beta testers for some new changes we are implementing. The application does de flight planning, weight and balance, fuel calculation and moving map using the telephone GPS. We have been using it for 2 months in the RW and works great for general aviation and ULM. There is VFR and IFR sectionals than can be downloaded for US and other aeronautical charts can be scanned for other countries. The database included with the program has more de 120.000 points of airports, VOR, NDB, IFR and VFR notification points, etc. We are using it in flight simulator too and we wou…

I just wanted to see if anyone knows of any sites that report "prices" for used planes.Basically, I am researching "prices" for md-90's, and am not looking for exact numbers, only ball park figures.I am not in the leasing business, or (sadly) aviation business, but am an enthusiast, and want to make sure I responded correctly to some questions someone had in regards to purchasing md-90's.Thanks for any help.

all my flight requirements today...Next will be the written test, then check ride and will be all done...However,for some perverted reason,I really liked the "unusual attitude recovery" maneuvers under the hood,so I told the instructor we could do 2-3 more hours of those just for fun...(I must be sick) LOL....Lou N1472Q

Leaving aside the Australian medias' current Qantas bashing bias, the list of damage resulting from the Qantas A380's uncontained turbine failure a week or so ago is quite sobering. I wonder if this will give the 748I the push it needs? From the News.com website :A QANTAS superjumbo was a flying wreck after an engine exploded shooting chunks of metal through fuel tanks and flight control systems. Last week's mid-air emergency off Singapore also badly damaged a wing, which may have to be replaced. The Herald Sun can reveal the full list of damage as Airbus A380 was nursed back to Singapore on three engines. When it touched down the fuel systems were failing, the forward spar …
