Hangar Chat

This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar.  Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here.  Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, climate change, COVID etc.  Topics that elicit or are deemed by staff likely to elicit heated argument, contention, or otherwise objectionable banter will be removed from view.  We allow some latitude, but please remember that, first and foremost, this is a flight-simulator oriented site frequented by people from all walks of life.

So summer boredem has set in and the same old FS flights just aren't doing it for me anymore. So i was wondering, are there any other fun aviation games that ya'll love? Games like airport tycoons, tower sims, etc. What could you recomend?

  5. "Manifest" an SGU Ancient Star Gate seed ship. The Manifest is a ship inspired by the Destiny as seen on the TV series Star Gate Universe. It is not the Destiny but rather a ship of Ancient design that was part of the Star Gate distribution flotilla. According to the TV series the Destiny is following a Star Gate seed ship which is placing Star Gates throughout the galaxies. The Manifest is my representation of such a ship.It features an FTL drive as seen in the series as well as Sun diving for refueling and can acomadate 3 of my SGU Shuttles. The cargo capacity is 40 of the standard 1.3x1.3x1.3 meter cargo containers used by Dan's UCGO add-on. In addition to the UCGO…

This is just a random question which porbably has a simple answer. Why, right at the start of the takeoff procedures, is the engine put at a certain percent n1 and then increased after two seconds or so? You can hear it as onlooker too. I suppose that I am asking this as opposed to just increasing it to full throttle at the start.thanks,airindia16

I have a 16.4 inch screen laptop which does a remarkable job at keeping the machine cool. While playing FSX, I still get temperatures of about 55 degrees C, at the processor level with RealTemp. I recently used Bojote's bufferpools mod, though, and after around 20 or so minutes of gameplay, the laptop is getting around to 60-61 C. Does anyone know a laptop cooler which will keep cool my laptop while playing FSX (and is the right size for it, of course)? I know my processor's Tjmax is at around 105 Celsius, but the cooler the system the less strain on the hardware.

Well actually not funny but rather misleading. Allot of work seems to have went into this section of Delta's website and it's a glaring example of what was promised before Delta fully took over (it can be explained at cargo flying in the bellies of passenger planes but that was not NWA Cargo but yet Delta is selling it as the same thing). Here we have a site promising so much yet all the birds are sitting in the Arizona desert and Delta as of December 2009 has shut down all cargo operations. http://www.delta.com/business_programs_ser...cargo/index.jspThis is what bothers me with major merges of big airlines. They promise so much and once they get what they want the si…

So I am printing out some plates and diagrams for SFO and find that they have an update with compare .pdfs for approaches and the airport diagram. Seems as if there will be a lighting change to at least one runway along with a magnetic deviation change effective Jan 2010. Other US airports may have similar changes.

I have a theory about Colton and his ability to use a "Video Game" to learn to fly. First, they claim he is an intelligent guy but I conclude he is not because if he calls MSF a video game, then he is not intelligent. Second, If he used MSF then he probably used a version other than FSX since he never learned how to land properly. Even after stealing and landing numerous planes he still came down hard on his landing (according to news interviews from police interrogators). FSX is the real Flight Simulator to use for a VC cockpit since 2D Panels aren't very good for simulating realistic landing situations.I sit comfortably in my flame proof bunker awaiting further comment…

Hi guys, check this out. Those of you fly in fs to VIDP must be knowing from updated afcads in library that a new runay 11/29 was commissioned in 2008. The airport location is very close to the main city and all three runway paths are over populated urban area. the LDAs are: rwy27=2660, rwy28-3810, rwy29=2970. The private airport operator had a Develope and Operate pact which means it gets higher revenue operating 11/29. The issue is, inspite of having three options (currently 2 as 28 is closed upto sept) only 29 is being preferd for night landings. The communities and a full scale hospital (3nm from threshold) have tried various legal methods but have been unsuccessful i…

  18. It's all about the Aeroworx Super King Air B200. When the original support forum wasn't available any more some of us decided to start from scratch to give the community a chance and a place to discuss anything about this fabulous piece of software. We had to start from scratch because unfortunately the Aeroworx Forum completely ceased to exist, thus killing the entire database. So we had no way to recover all the posts that have accumulated during the past time. Now this is a private project, not an official support forum. But I'm sure within short time we'll have an impressive knowledgebase if you all help the community with your input, your comments and…

Ladies and Gents,I'm sure we're all aware of Aerosoft's bold plan to create a new simulator, dubbed Aerosoft Flight Simulator 2012 (AFS2012), however, we were all left guessing after the monthly updates stopped at the end of last year. In response to all of the negative comments, Mathijs Kok has posted this: Now honestly and without any derogatory idea behind it, I got no idea what you mean. Could be we got a language issue here, "stuffing around" is not something I am familiar with. If you mean that we tell people that we are seriously thinking about a new simulator and like to discus that with our customer? Well sure, that's how like it. I mean if you don't like it, s…

Hi, just curious about the prezzurisation of the 727. The staircase under the tail section, is it the door on top of the stairs that holds the prezzure or is it the staircase itself? In my CS 727 the door opens inside, so i would think that would be most likely if the Captain sim model is right, but not sure, and cant find info about it either. Thanks

  23. I've always seen a lot of repaints of freeware exterior models from developers such as POSKY, and some of them have been created for FSX (not to mention the Jet2 752WL repaint by Ben Thomson), but on those repaints, all the panels were default, even on models such as those created by Aerodesigns, who usually make custom panels for their A319 models. What's up with these? Are the default panels that good? Is the default Beech King Air panel better than the ones by Pierre Fasseux/Marcos Gama?

  24. I was looking around the Apple app store tonight and ran across a program that just came out called Igmap ($9.99).It is a moving map program for the iphone and works with xplane, fs9, and fsx! After reading that I had to get it and try it out.It has custom maps for worldwide, and US,Alaska,Cuba/PR US Wac's and US Tac's.Skycharts which I had heads upped a few years ago is great also but as far as I know still only does xplane. This also was extremely easy to set up-very happy with it! With my ihome keyboard (the iphone plugs into it) things are very nice!A few shots:

Jane's Advanced Strike Fighters announcedMy god, they turned one of the best franchises of Combat Flight Simulation in to HAWX or Ace Combat! Here's to all of us who remember the good old Jane's games, like USAF, F/A-18, and Longbow. Don't let the memories fade, because the old games are the only thing we have left of the old Jane's, as now it's just some HAWX rip off. I personally am going to avoid this one.
