Hangar Chat
This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar. Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here. This is a copy of the letter that I sent to the Virginia Senate/Representatives: Dear Representative/Senator: You do not know me personally. I am an honorable veteran (US Navy 2003-2007). I am a registered voter. I may or may not have voted for you in the last election, but I do vote every election. For the most part, I am not involved in politics or the day to day laws that are brought before you for review. I am not here to do your job. I am simply requesting that you take the time to hear me out. I will let you know that I swore the same oath as you - “I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and…

1 Jan marked the 30th anniversary of the Boeing 757-200 being placed in service with launch customer Eastern Airlines. MSN 22191 reg no N501EA. British CAA certified the aircraft for flight in UK by British Airways (2d launch customer) on 18 Jan 83. 22191 was transferred to NASA but its current where-abouts is a bit murky. Other than being transferred to L-3 Capital as N144DC that's about it. L-3 apparently operates a couple of B752s for US DoD as "COMCO" but that's about all I could find (or maybe want to know?) scott s. .

Guys, I just wanted to point out the prizes on offer for the Tony Radmilovich special flight on AVSIM. For those of you interested in the Boeing 777 from PMDG (and who isn't interested!), Robert Randazzo has announced that one will be given away during the course of this weekends Tony Radmilovich Special Flight on VATSIM and even hinting that the lucky winner (who donates to the cause) may also get an early copy before everyone else. For added good measure, Robert is also offering prizes of the full PMDG 737NGX package to four lucky winners. (yes this includes the 600/700 expansion pack). You can also hear Robert online discussing the 777 and new releases during t…

I have noticed that it is the largely uninformed (those who are clueless about meterology, aviation and physics) who are the most gullible at believing the stupid chemtrail conspiracy theory that is going around. I don't see many airline pilots or those people with knowledge of aviation espousing that junk. Am I right? Am I wrong? Does anyone here believe in it?

I fly pretty often and it doesn't matter which airline, day of week, time of day, or the season-- I always have to deal with these same people. Like just the other day. a. Squirrel-like people who just can't sit still in the row behind or in front of you. Its like the person is taking stuff out of the seat pocket or putting the tray up and down every ten seconds, all while wiggling in their seats. I mean what the heck?? b. Twitchy people who have spastic legs or clubbed feet that keep kicking the seat supports every few minutes. Unless you are 7 and under you have no excuse to kick anything. If you have feet, keep them firmly planted on the floor. …

it's always a good sign when a company is hiring, now release P3D 2.0  MONTREAL -- A Canadian subsidiary of U.S. defence giant Lockheed Martin Corp. expects to hire up to 100 former Aveos Fleet Performance employees after purchasing a number of the Montreal-areas assets of the insolvent company. The first of the employees are expected to be on the job when Lockheed Martin Canada reopens the shuttered engine maintenance, repair and overhaul operation in April. The rest of the hiring is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Lockheed Martin Canada purchased tools and equipment at auction for two lines of aircraft…

She says, Twas the week after Christmas, and all through the house, Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse. The cookies I'd nibbled, the chocolate I'd taste At the holiday parties had gone to my waist. When I got on the scales there arose such a number! When I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber), I'd remember the marvelous meals I'd prepared; The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared, The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese And the way I'd never said, "No thank you, please." As I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt And prepared once again to do battle with dirt... I said to myself, as I only can, "Yo…

Has anybody noticed that at a time when civilian sims are (still) kind of scarce on the ground. War Sims, and most especially war sims/games (whateveh) focused on WW2 are so popular? Just in the last year we had Microsoft Flight (not technically a Warsim) focusing heavily on WW2 fighters. This theme was continued with War Thunder, and continues further with Air conflicts, Pacific Carriers, Dogfight 1942 and Damage Inc. Added to that is the recently cancelled Cliffs of Dover which has now transmogrified to Battle of Stalingrad which is (you guessed it) yet another WW2 game....... And I probably missed some. So, uhm, whats up with WW2?

Letter from an airline pilot: He writes: My lead flight attendant came to me and said, "We have an H.R. On this flight." (H.R. Stands for human remains.) "Are they military?" I asked. 'Yes', she said. 'Is there an escort?' I asked. 'Yes, I've already assigned him a seat'. 'Would you please tell him to come to the flight deck. You can board him early," I said.. A short while later, a young army sergeant entered the flight deck. He was the image of the perfectly dressed soldier. He introduced himself and I asked him about his soldier. The escorts of these fallen soldiers talk about them as if they are still alive and still with us. 'My soldier is…
