  2. We are pleased to provide the community an update on the AVSIM sponsored Richard Harvey Endowed Scholarship. First, some background. At the passing of Richard Harvey, team lead for the FLY! series of flight simulators, in early 2003, AVSIM opened a scholarship fund in Richard's name at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU). Hundreds of community members and commercial organizations contributed to the Scholarship fund. The Scholarship reached over $10,000, at which point it could fund itself from year-to-year. In other words, it became self-endowed. Every year AVSIM receives an update from ERAU on the status and funding level of the scholarship. We are pleased to rep…

Hi, I'm a regular follower of PC Aviator's "Flight sim deal of the day". Or at least I was. In December, they announced that it would be on hiatus. However, here we are, approaching the end of January and nothing has changed. Does anyone know what happened or when it will be back? Have a look for yourself: flightsimdealoftheday.com

Hi guys I'd like to get more involved in air traffic control, and especially I'd like to know which is the best software in the market, in your opinion. The only ATC Simulators I know are: 1) ATC Simulator 2 HD - http://www.atcsimulator.com/ This one seems to be comprehensive and sophisticated, but a bot outdated in the UI. Here on AVSIM there is a deep review. 2) Tracon!2012 (ATC Suite) - http://www.atcsuite....dex_tracon.html This is new, but I have no red anything about. Anyone tried them out? any suggestion about others software? I know there are IVAO and VATSIM but I'd like to try something offline before going on-line :-) Many thanks

This video shows the scary crash by the RedWings Airlines Tu-204 today from a camera on a automobile near Vukono. Thankfully the traffic seemed light there...sad the crew perished but it could have been much worse From the rate of impact in the video, it looks like they were trying to go around and couldn't get off? Can't see them "sliding" that fast.

For anyone with 30 mins to spare, I've come across an interesting investigative documentary about the fear culture and fuel policy in Ryanair that lead up to the 3 consecutive Mayday calls back in the summer of this year. In Dutch with English subtitles. http://reporter.kro.nl/seizoenen/2012/afleveringen/28-12-2012/extras/mayday_mayday_-_international_version Regards, Ró.

In my previous life I worked in TV and on a particular day back sometime in the early eighties a colleague of mine was filming for a news item with one of our news reporters. The idea was for the cameraman to pan with the aeroplane and end up on the reporter while he delivered a piece to camera. Needless to say the reporter (Richard Wyatt) never finished his news item. But I am happy to report that he made a full recovery...

  15. A couple of weeks ago, when we attempted to upgrade the underlying system software to its latest revision, we discovered that the 43 tables associated with the LINKS system were corrupted. This was one of the major reasons that the upgrade failed. We have since replaced the links system, but were unable to recover the data that had been stored in the database. We apologize to everyone who helped populate the LINKS system; there was a tremendous amount of information stored there. Please visit the new LINK system and resubmit your site, your favorite sites, and other information as you can. You can find the new system here: http://forum.avsim.net/links/ Or by click…

  16. Gang, As many of you will remember the team at PC Pilot have been working towards creating a sponsored event in aid of Tony Radmilovich, to help repair his spine so he can walk again. The link to the intial thread at AVSIM is here. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/387354-tony-radmilovich-an-appeal-for-help/ I am delighted to say that in association with PC Pilot Magazine and our official sponsors PMDG, ORBX, Addictive Simulations, Buffalo Virtual Airways and United Virtual, the very kind (and appreciated!) support of the AVSIM team and many others we can now announce that a special series of flights will now be flown on VATSIM, starting 23.59GMT 18.59EST on the 18…

  17. To me this just sounds like a bunch of Corporate Hoopla to a piano but here is a behind the scenes on the controversial new look. I just think the tail should have retained the A/A logo and eagle or that new 'Flight Symbol' on the tail instead of the fuselage.....but the fuselage is OK. I will still fly American anyway.

I know I can be very rough around the edges when it come to forum etiquette but I have met a bunch of great people here and really enjoy my time spent with you guys here. After every pissing match, e-penis battles and everything else that commonly occurs in these forums, we are all in this hobby together and I bet if we were to all meet up in person, we would have a blast. /soapbox LOL Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

Not so much for the big money in modern times but for those consoles and modules cartridges. The idea of Pong was epic and surely has been adapted to some more games. Today, I think they would release it with an optional DLC. I guess. ^_^ Find a video of some hardcore gamers here. For the rw pilots. Should run well on any FMC screen. Just ask the FMC guy to unlock it for you. B) And the more modern titles. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfouuznWOUA Those were the times where the concept of the game had to run the business since…
